Me and my cousins talk about our memories of going there as children with our Parents all the time. The Fun House was my favorite. It is some of my favorite memories of our childhood when we all lived in the Bay Area- so many years ago.😀

Born in San Francisco in the early 50’s. Great memories of spending time at Playland at the Beach. I remember my brother and me would spend time every week at our grandparents apt in the Marina Dist, and after dinner my grandfather would drive us back home in the Sunset Dist. Sometimes on our trip back home we would stop at Playland and ride a few rides, or just sit on the benches in the merry go round building and listen to the music that was playing on the 4 band organs on the Looff Carousel. Also had many eats at the Hot House. Great Mexican food served with SF sourdough bread!!!!!! Wonderful memories growing up in the City by the Bay

My wife and I are going to SF this weekend, I was born and raised in SF 1957 and of course this place was the coolest, that and the ice rink under the museum by the Cliff House. Your video brought back a lot of memories. Now if I can only find some on the Saturday night drag racing we used to do on the Great Hwy in front of where the Fun House was. And don't forget racing on Brotherhood way and heading to A&W after. Those were the days of glory. Thank you for this video. Duncan Finlayson

Those were the most wonderful days and nights in the late 50s on. My DAD took us there every friday night we would go on the rides then get an its it ice cream. We would go roller skating across the street at the Rink. Had so much fun even as we grew up we always went there with the kids we grew up with then later our boyfriends. Kids today have no idea of the good clean fun we had. Loved watching the video. I know we have movie pictures some place, no ive got to find them and convert them to DVDs for sure.. Thank You for sharing!

Lived in the Richmond district in SF and Pacifica in the 60s and 70s and spent many weekends at playland until it shut down in 1972. Thanks for the memories

I lived in the Richmond and Pacifica, too. I still can't drive by those condos where Playland used to be without cursing.

They should have never replaced Playland with condos or apt's. I have great memories there, especially Laughing freckled Sally, and the Fun House. My parents let me wander and play while they played for groceries . Does anyone recall the Cupid Doll making machines❓👍

We lived up in Miraloma Park near Mt. Davidson, and I can remember my buddies and I skateboarding all the way down to Playland (down Laguna Honda to 7th Ave, through GG park, and then down Fulton all the way to the beach)---we used to have a blast back then in the mid-60's---no cellphones or GPS for your folks to track you--just be back by dinnertime! We used to love the FunHouse, and unfortunately, by this time...most of the rides had ceased to exist vs. their full glory of earlier decades.

My mom and / or dad would take my brother and I to this fun park.. The 1960's and early 1970's were really diffrent of todays San Francisco, CA. The city is ever growing and changing. Still love my city by the bay. Just wish I could afford to live there. To think my mother only paid $ 200.00 a month for a two bedroom Apt near Crissy Field.

I'm from South City in the early 60's our family would be regulars at Playland. Laughing Sally use to scare me and make me cry. I was only 4 at the time.

In the 1950's I lived in Oakland. Playland was just a two block walk to the Key System train, over the bridge to San Francisco. Grab a street car to the beach. After that it was fun, fun, fun for the day and then back over the Bay Bridge to home in what I now consider (having moved to The City in 1964) the Far East. We also went up the hill to the Cliff House and watched the seals on the rocks beyond the shore. :>}

THe July 4 Marin Country Fair is pretty cool. Big layout.Lotta rides. Three days at least, maybe more. A lot of stuff....all around the Lake, and good fireworks every night... I hit Playland in the late fifties. early 60's. The slide was my favorite, but you had to climb those stairs each time. There a ride (sp?) where it turned in a circle, and then a cowling came down over the the thing, and freaked you out..You really had to hang on sometimes, or felt you were going to fly out.

My favorite place as a kid of the 50's ! We went there at least once every couple of months. Been on almost every ride and won my first "Hawaiian Hula Girl" with just a grass skirt and a lei there at about 11 years old. The home made pies and apple turnovers at the bakery on the pier were great ! The colored popcorn was always a must too. What great memories. Thanks Mom and Dad. 💙

Television is what destroyed these sort of places, people just started sitting on the couch and watching the set for their entertainment.

In sanfrancisco I wish this play land amusment park still existed here but with more fun with newer modern rides it would make sanfrancisco a lot more fun and family place to go to , if they were to build a newer more fun safer version of play lands at the candle stick park indoors I would definitely go !

Hit the Marin County July 4th thing at Marin CIvic Center. Not bad. FIreworks every night, (3-4 nights of this, with a lot of big rides.) All around the Lake.

We have the original 1962 MOLD-A-RAMA machine that for a quarter makes a hot blow molded FUN-TIER LAND cowboy souvenir in just 33 seconds. In a few days I'll be posting photos of it at the MOLDVILLE website - check it out!

Who does this song and where can I get it? Someone should put the whole thing on RU-vid. You can see the whole documentary on Amazon Prime.
