I dig it. For the price, it's a great nostalgic pickup. That said, I recall that the toys and the model I built back in the 90's also never matched the on-screen colors.

Love Star Trek but that Enterprise D needs more paint and you are correct the base of the stand has the wrong comm badge design. Great review as always George 🖖🏻

This looks pretty nice considering the price. I had the OG Playmates Gold USS Enterprise D which was limited, the Klingon Vorch'a Attack Cruiser, and I think I still have the Romulan Warbird, and Borg Sphere (Boxed up somewhere). I still have the OG Playmates USS Enterprise TOS on display, and over the years it has kept in't color pretty well, with just some light yellowing. Yesterday I had to take some epoxy super glue to permanently cement the Nacelle Pylons onto the ship at its base since they've become wobbly over time. Now they're on the Fuselage pretty solidly, and the sounds still work, and lights up too. Not sure what it is worth these days, but it's mine lol.. Next to this Enterprise I also have the Enterprise D Ship by Diamond Select on it's cool glossy black stand. The Diamond Select version is so much more detailed, bigger at 17", and better painted. It looks as close to the series/Movie version as you can get for what I paid for at the time (been just over 20 years I believe). It lights up but like yours, not the Impulse engines either.. Has more sound samples, and fx and just overall looks very good. Don't get me wrong, I still will get these new Playmates one just on principal. On my Diamond Select, I only recently just opened the package and found that the batteries that were pre-installed had badly corroded and destroyed most the connection points. I'm dumb this way, but I didn't know, nor expect that to happen, and I am glad i didn't sell it because the buyer would have wanted a refund lol.. Anyways, I did a quick DIY using aluminium foil, some cleaning up around the connector points, and it works just fine now. Though a more proper repair by someone who can is prolly in the future. Great video! Now I feel like I want to looks for my other two playmates ships lol..

I think it's supposed to be the Star Trek Generations version of the Enterprise D that's why some are saying its the wrong stand.. It's actually not.

Great updated version of the 1701-D (even more popular now after Picard's S3 finale), but its missing the most crucial sound clip.... engaging Warp Drive!!! how could Playmates miss this crucial sound effect? At least its better than the lame "bridge control beeps"... a huge opportunity missed... they could "not make it so" :(

I had the original 90’s version and while yes the color may be wrong the impulse engines might not light up and it might lack critical paint apps but I have a feeling it’s superior to the one I had (a bid reasons being the ability to separate the Saucer Section from the Star Drive. Live Long and Prosper George.

The glaring omission for me is the secondary hull impulse engines, how did they miss those? Otherwise looks pretty good, nice detail.

I dont understand why save money playmates on painting. I think lot people will pay more for a better detailed, lighted 1701-D. Bandai maked few good star trek modell kit, just 1701-D missing, lookslike this is a doomed starship, there is no perfect version what have reasonable price tag ;D Diamond select a big junk plastic, eaglemoss, corgi ships have bad window paint, johnny lighting have warped saucer...Maybe corgi new re release in december...

Compared to the enterprise toys from the 90s this is kinda a disappointment. The mold is really well done and it is beautiful. But the biggest gripe is the speaker for all the effects is so quiet. My collectors edition ships from the 90s playmates are loud as all get out. The stand it comes with is absolute crap but for $40 bucks it's not too bad. Paint job is kinda jank

$26.49 is a much more worthy price. That has to be THE worst looking D model on the market. It comes looking like and oxidized older version that needs some TLC and it sounds cheep.

More screw holes this looks so bad for 2023/24 Diamond select done a much better toy for its time and it was so much bigger
