Early versions of the Getaway have a mission with an unlicensed British Telecommunications vehicle that was removed from later versions of the game 👍worth looking out for a copy.

When I played The Getaway, I turned a corner to escape a pursuit and got stuck in a traffic jam. They replicated London perfectly in that game.

Dude on the very last level I figured out if you are badly wounded just lean against any wall and you will recover your health.... That knowledge would have made the game much easier.

I see the PS2 as the culmination of the lessons learned during an entire decade of gaming. Nintendo quality (SNES) + SEGA attitude (MEGA-DRIVE) + Playstation 1 maturity + Arcade fun = PLAYSTATION 2 Best console ever!!!!

I'd love to see a part 2. The PS2 was such a fantastic system. Also, I'm pretty sure all Katamari games are actually exclusive to one console. Beautiful Katamari was exclusive to 360, Katamari Forever was exclusive to PS3, etc.

This game is so great! It's usually pretty cheap, and you can play through the whole thing in an hour or two. So it's a great pickup for a quick, cheap action packed gaming session!

damn, how do you got to like that game?, its really frustrating for me, changed the whole 2d platforming to top down bullethell shooting where you can't see where the bullets are coming from, dodge buttons on the sticks that make it totally unpractical, weird bosses desing where some of them have different phases and others just don't, has the most weak and forgetable final boss from the series (even if its as hilarious as a colonel talking dog) and you can end it in half-hour or two, and therer is just normal, hard and time attack/speedrun modes, no replay value for me whatsoever. will pick up the other one on the system better

I love the ps2 metal jebus I still play mine every week because games now a days do not hold up it’s all about online and rarely story driven back in the ps2 days online wasn’t common yes we did have online games on the ps2 but most people didn’t have access to the internet we all had to depend on the story to keep us addicted

I went and picked up a few of these on eBay. I needed Xenosaga III to close out my Xenosaga collection but also picked up Mister Mosquito, The Getaway and it's sequel, Airblade, SSX, and The Mark of Kri. Thanks for jogging my memory on these great games!

My favourite PS2 exclusive is hands-down Klonoa 2: Lunatea's Veil, the sequel to the original Klonoa: Door to Phantomile on the PS1. It's a mid-length platformer, clocking in at between 4 and 6 hours if you don't go for 100% collectables and it has some really fun and emotional story moments, a very well balanced level of difficulty, and just amazing graphics every step of the way! :3

There actually was a rumor recently that the Saga trilogy series might be getting an HD remake for current consoles. We will see BN is announcing some games December 15th.

I only recently went back to play them, but I'd buy and play them again on Switch. Especially since Xenoblade 2 is really heavily drawing from Xenosaga in design and feel. All the Xeno games are easily in my top 30 games of all time; Monolithsoft is just legendary.

For PS2 Exclusivity, I would have to go with Gradius V and R-Type Final. These games look like they were in the arcade straight-up. I love schmups all over the place, but always go back to these, like Axelay and UN Squadron for the SNES. Great video!!!

Honestly I came into the PS2 scene very late in the game, infact I was finally able to purchase one right after PS3 slim came out (sad I know), but since then it has been one of my favorite consoles and holds some of the most memories for me. To see games I have yet to play or even heard of is always fun to learn about so please keep doing your console exclusive videos, keep up the awesome content MJR!

It's not sad, tbh we have all been able to purchase a lot of the consoles that has been released very "late". I have been purchasing and selling PS2 for over 5 years now and only right now I can say, I get to finally keep the console and start my so dreamed collection !! So, don't worry. Jesus Perez they just added the rest of the mainline jak games and Jax x, but yeah it really need better support. My guess is it probably takes more work, then typically emulated ports, since they have to add trophies

Did “Xenogears” ever tie into the XenoSaga storyline?

It's sad that Gran Turismo 3 and 4 weren't quoted on this video, but, of course, it can be mentioned in an eventual part 2 of this topic, because GT is the best racing franchise in the PS2.

You're forgetting Tourist Trophy, arguably the best motorcycle racing game in the PS2.

Same here. How come there never was a Tourist Trophy for PS3? Let's hope Polyphony Digital deliver when the PS4 is still active.

Indeed. Nowadays we are living the crap out of the nickel and diming generation, where all the video game industry cares about is empty dry the customer's pockets and not getting their good will.

The soundtrack to Gungrave was also by the composer for Triguns soundtrack. Tsuneo Imahori. The creator/character designer, and composer also worked together on the Gungrave anime, which is one of my favorites of all time. Such an intensely character driven story amidst all the weird cyber-necromancy and gunplay.

Gran Turismo 2 is for the PS1 Edit: you can play it on a PS2, but technically it wasn't developed for the PS2

The ‘PS4 version’ is a digital emulation of a PS2 build though. So technically he was still right 😛
