Hi! I bought a PS4 that has a blue light of death. Very occasionally I can get it to boot into safe mode and when I'm able to get it into safe mode it will stay there for a while but when I try to do anything in the menu, it fails and shuts off. I know it's not the hard drive, power cord or power supply out of process of elimination. Please help.

Hello friend, great video. I have a ps4 pro which I have tested the wire hdmi and it is fine, I have tested the connector HDMI putting a connector at one end of the wire and checking coninuity and values, I have measured the filter with voltaje drop and they are fine, I have also checked the readings on the chip and I think it is also fine, however after all this my ps4 remains white light and without being able to enter safe mode or anythibng and no signal. What I can do? Is there a scheme to test more components or what shoud I test now? The board is nva001, could you tell me what other values I can measure or compare the readings of the chip?

Nice vid mate, I have question: My ps4 goes on into a white light, so no image. When i go into safe mode, it gives a screen for 1 second and after that the screen goes black again. I have replaced the hdmi port, but no succes. Do you think it might be the Retimer on this board? Thanks in advance

Hey Dennis. It is very likely you'll have an issue with the encoder if replacing the port didn't fix the issue. You should go through the relevant checks first such as making absolutely sure you have no issues with the port itself (solder bridges, dry joints, loose pins etc) and also check the hdmi protection fuse (resettable fuse just below the port slightly to the left), check the diodes and also check the filters before replacing the chip itself. I've changed out my ic chip twice with two brand new chips and I still have a solid white light of death. My hdmi port tests correct on my hdmi tester... There are no bridges and all points are secure.

The hy510 thermal paste is used only on led lights or something so I don't recommend this thermal the 1 I use for ps4s HY 880 OR H880 good thermal paste and the same price by the way when replacing the ic it must have same number

Hello, First of all thanks for the awesome and very detailed video. Is it normal for some of the IC pins (the ones above the letter PANAS from PANASONIC) to have continuity between them? I've bought a few of these ICs and all have continuity, and after I installed one of them and turned on the PS4, the fan goes really fast, the PS4 beeps and then turns off. Not sure if I have a bad batch of ICs or I'm missing something else. Thanks

Hi, thanks for the kind words :) Some pins will have continuity depending on the pins you're referring to but I couldn't tell you off the top of my head which ones they will be. In terms of the fan going loud and turning off that would be down to overheating. Either the console has been reassembled incorrectly or the thermal paste either needs changing or the paste hasn't been reapplied after disassembly. If the console is 100% reassembled correctly and there has been fresh thermal paste applied, and the console is completely clean you may have another issue but I'd say to check the thermal paste, fans, heatsink (making sure to clean dust as you go) and then try again

@@TheCod3r thanks for your detailed reply. The PS4 turns off after 3 seconds of pressing the ON button. So I would think that it doesn’t even have time to over heat, and that’s why I assume the problem is somewhere else. Can’t find shorts to ground anywhere, and all the diodes are reading the correct values. This one is being a real challenge. Cheers

@@trajanonerd no problem. The ps4 will almost definitely overheat within a couple of seconds if it isn't assembled properly. The apu will reach 100⁰C within 2-3 seconds so I would definitely focus on thermals (fan, heatsink, thermal paste) and also making sure the apu clamp is the correct way round because that would make a difference too

I'm sorry I only speak English, but by the look of it you're asking about temperature right? I use 480⁰C for removal and 440⁰C for reinstalling the chips
