Deadpool for PS4 (also on PS3), Maid of Sker, The 25th Ward: The Silver Case, Yuppie Psycho: Executive Edition (only physical for the PS4 and Switch and Europe/PAL version only). If you love horror games + witch hunting, you will love this game :).
Physical: Destiny Connect (Beautiful, easy RPG) Rage 2 (Yes its hidden. Bad reviews steered too many people wrong on this one. Amazingly fun game.) Sakura Wars (Exclusive to PS4 anime Mech Battle with superb graphics.) Starlink (AAA Ubisoft game. Don't need the toys to life. Space adventure.) The Legend of Nayuta (PSP remaster. Amazing artistic design action RPG with fun gameplay.) Toukiden Kiwami (Defend village fighting demons. A vibe. Better than Toukiden 2.) PSN games that are worth a look: After Wave Downfall (Starfox 64 on water) Kingdom Two Crowns (Amazing local coop 2D strategy kingdom builder/defender) PictoQuest (PictoCross puzzle adventure/RPG. Neat game.) Samurai Bringer (Amazing simple/deep 3D pixel brawler.) Super Box Delivery (Tiny beautiful game. Collect boxes. Score big.)
Since you picked up the Paper Beast physical edition, keep an eye out for everything else Perp Games releases! They take care of many PSVR 1&2 physical/limited editions of digital releases. For PS4(PSVR) there are physical versions of Moss, Sairento, Ultrawings, Downward Spiral, Apex Construct and lots more. For PS5(PSVR 2) there's already a bunch of games and they just released Crossfire Sierra Squad and Vertigo 2. Hubris, Wanderer, Madison VR and others are coming soon. Great stuff for everyone who wants to build a physical PSVR(2) collection!🤘🔥
@@dantess2693yeah, it’s a shame because they also worked on some god of war games at one point as well I thought the graphics we’re mind blowing quite like ryse son of rome they still hold up now
Sony owns the IP, much like they own Bloodborne... and Alundra... and Wild Arms... and Legend of Dragoon... and Legaia... and Arc the Lad... and Folklore... Dark Cloud... and do you see where I'm going with this?
Paper Beast was made by Eric Chahi, an original legend. Made Another World, Heart of Darkness. When you said "Alien Planet Adventure Puzzle Game" that's basically explaining Another World and Heart of Darkness haha.
I loved Heart of Darkness when i first played in 99 - never heard about it again in any youtube "best of" lists! It's like everybody forgot about it :(
Question for you (not a criticism): If it’s a PS4 hidden gem video, why show them on PS5? Are a lot of these games enhanced for PS5 or do they run and look exactly the same (except for the VR game you specified)? I know newer games like Cyberpunk run a lot differently between platforms, but maybe that’s not true for older games. I’ve never played a ps5. Please educate me! And thanks for all the great content over the years!
I thought about that…but then you also have to include the original PS4 and the PS4 Pro into all of this, and compare all three…which would be a pain. In general the PS4 Pro fixed most frame rate and performance issues that I ever ran into…
I was so happy that you showed Gravity Rush 2 as the first game. I love the Gravity Rush series. It helped me during a hard low mental period of my life.
Loving the OG on the Vita left me wanting more. Until I played GR2... Despite a fantastic playable open credits scene, the devs bizarrely tool so much pleasure in boring fetches and depositing Kat on terrible timed missions just killed it for me. Luckily, I can always go back to both Vita/Ps4 versions
All great recommendations! I would also recommend Fist Of The North Star: Lost Paradise, it’s made by the same studio that makes the Yakuza games and it’s a really fun beat em up!
I was really disappointed by that game playing it after Ken's Rage 1&2, for me personally it felt like they focused too much on RPG elements and the beat-em-up mechanics were more of an afterthought. But I can see why people who are really into RPGs or the FOTNS story would enjoy it
@@fightaman7 tf are you talking about? fotns is peak yakuza combat. as far as yakuza games go, it has the deepest combat system that allows for combo cancelling and crazy air juggles thats a bit lacking in games of the same studio like judgment and yakuza. the only downside to fotns is how it completely rewrote the story.
I thought that game was quite good. I was definitely pleasantly surprised, because so many game critics trashed the game. Another game that I thought was exceptionally good, that many game critics hated was Evil West. Have you played that one? I wonder what Metal Jesus thinks about that game?
The point of the pun with Deathtiny is that in japanese, Death, the english word specifically, is transliterated as Desu. And when the English word Destiny is transliterated it is Desutinii. Deathtiny is absolutely the right pronunciation to get that pun across in English.
You have some incorrect information here. Japanese doesn't have the sound for 'ti'. The closest sound equivalent for 'ti' is 'chi' which in hiragana is ち. So, destiny transcribed into Japanese is デスチニ which transliterated is 'desuchini'. However, you may see people transliterate 'ti' as 'ティ' but those letters are actually 'Te' and 'i' and pronounced like 'Tay-ee' . 'Te' and 'i' approximate 'ti' more, but that writing isn't native in Japanese. Source: I studied Japanese for three semesters.
@@troletrain the katakana ティ is absolutely not "te" and then "i". It is "ti". If it was "te" then "i", the イwould have to be of regular size. By your logic, ちょ isn't "cho", and instead is "chiyo". And I'm aware it's not native, but media these days is likely to use these "new wave" kana
I played both games and Gravity Rush 2 is possibly the best glow up for a sequel compared to the previous outing that it's criminal it didn't do well, largely because of the less than great marketing done for it, it was there, but not enough to make people care. I really hope that upcoming movie project ends up being really good as a means of bringing back the franchise.
I maintain that a Sony console should have phyiscal backwards compatability back to PS1, but at least the PS4 library combined with PS5 still makes for a huge pool of games. I know that PS3 would be hard to emulate, but these days it's been possible for quite a while, even on a rinky dink Steamdeck.
I kinda regret getting rid of my PS4 so many years ago, but at the time I really wanted a premium PC gaming rig and selling it along with the few games I had for it was fast and easy money.
I've thought about doing just that, thing is I have yet to get myself a TV that benefits from the PS5, still going with a 10+ year old 32" Sony HD TV, so none of those nice game enhancing featured on never TV sets, och and new furniture to actually fit a bigger TV let alone a PS5, so I have some savings to be made to afford all that hehe. @@MetalJesusRocks
I sold my PS4 Pro for $400 a couple years ago. Kind of regret doing it as well. That being said I need the money and space more than I need the console. Do miss playing some of those exclusives though.
I have enjoyed a lot order 1886 when came out .. gameplay was alright, 3rd person shooting and story was great and it’s PlayStation exclusive 🤷🏻♂️ but I guess that’s me also one of my favourite games is Rage which received bad reviews 😪
I've been watching...MJR now since 2015 and I think alot of fans would agree he's still hot, still relevant still entertaining to watch amd no one on gaming youtube has me more hyped to pick up physical copies of games
Great video! Completely agree about Gravity Rush series, The Order: 1886, and MediEvil! Great to know Hot Shot Racing was by the same as Outrun devs! I'll have to check that one out! Cheers
I would recommend "The Nonary Games" which is a double pack of both Zero Escape games. If you're into visual novels and complex storylines, it'll be a great time. One of my favorites
More Hidden Gems imo: - Golf Club Wasteland - Grim Fandango Remastered - Rock of Ages 3 - Xuan Yuan Sword 7 - Alchemic Jousts - Ovivo - Nexomon Extinction - Yonder the Cloud Catcher Chronicles - For the King - Fat Princess Adventures All came out physical :)
The games that stick out to me as " hidden gems" are Middle Earth Shadow of War and Sleeping Dogs. I bought both years ago and they were dirt cheap sleeping dogs I think was 2.99 and shadow of war might have been around the same. Both of these games are great, the sound, combat, movement are fluid. Highly recommend to anyone who hasn't played either.
I was so happy to see Gravity Rush 2 as the first game. That game series does not get talked about enough and GR 2 is an absolute gem. Kat is one of my favourite protagonists as well
Some PS4 games I enjoyed that I don't see mentioned often/in this video: -TMNT Cowabunga Collection -Sinking City -Immortals Fenyx Rising -Vampyr -Mafia Trilogy -Jurassic World Evolution 1 & 2 -Rayman Legends -Greed Fall -Mad Max -The Quarry -Ghost Recon Wildlands - Ghost Recon Breakpoint -The Outer Worlds --Call of Cthulhu -Psychonauts 2
I own TMNT cowabunga collection, Rayman Legends, the quarry, and mafia Definitive edition (not the trilogy, I couldn't get into the second and third game). Out of all these I would say TMNT cowabunga collection doesn't really get mention, but then again it is mainly just a remaster/port of old games + it came out the same yr when TMNT shredders revenge came out so I guess it got overshadowed 🤷♀️
@@TISUAL I never played Shredders Revenge but it looks alright. I was talking about this video in particular since it didn't mention any of the games I listed. 🙂 I know TMNT is a collection/port of older games but I thought I'd throw it out there for fans of the old games. They also have collections on PS4 for Street Fighter, Megaman, Castlevania, Disney, etc... I love all 3 Mafia games. They're all a little different but all have good story telling. Mafia 3 felt like GTA light and I had a blast with it. I know I put more time in to 3 than the other 2 combined but of course everyone is going to have different opinions. ✌️
@@MusicWizard85 I still have to play shredders revenge...maybe it'll be my next game played. I'm glad they made the TMNT collection though. I only played the first two games on the NES before. Also, I like the quality of life features they have especially the rewind feature. I could not get pass the prologue in mafia 2 & 3. I either lost interest too quickly or I was confused.
Absolutely loved The Order 1886. Super underrated. Total blast of a platinum; shame it will never get a sequel. And holy hell! I bought Gravity Rush 2 a few years ago to play after I finished the first game on Vita and it was like $10. Just looked on eBay and they are going for well over $50 now, even opened! My copy is still sealed, but I've got no problem cracking it open when I decide to go finally play it.
I actually REALLY liked “The Order 1886’s” story & characters. The visuals were incredible for the time. I was hoping it would get the sequel it needed. So much was promised & could have been done with gameplay. A great IP just laying stagnant. (Just like the “Legaia” IP! They could do sooooo much with that IP!)
I really hope we get a port of the arcade-only Gundam Extreme Vs 2 OverBoost on the PS5. I also think Gundam fans are long overdue for a new Dynasty Warriors Gundam game. The last one was Dynasty Warriors Gundam Reborn that was released on PS3 back in 2013. The Order 1886 is one I played and finished. It was okay but it's a bit on the short side with little collectibles. I heard there was a sequel planned but apparently it got canceled.
Two games I've recently played and enjoyed. Concrete genie. Enjoyable putting artwork on as many buildings as possible. Can also be played with a PlayStation headset. Arise a simple story. I like the graphics and the time rewind feature.👍
The MediEvil remake is amazing, the perfect halloween vibes game! It keeps its challenge from the ps1 version too if you're going for 100%. Also Sumo Digital rocks, ill have to check out that racer.
Grip is also a pretty awesome game to play. It's a PS4 game that handles just fine on PS5 and is a spiritual successor to the old Rollcage games which means you drive around on gravity defying race courses in a car that keeps moving forward even when it's flipped upside down. It also has my favourite titlecard which is designed so that it looks the same even when you turn it upside down.
1886 still looks surprisingly good. If you were to tell me it is a PS5 launch title, I wouldn't doubt it. The art direction works really well within the hardware spec of the PS4. Digital Foundry did a deep dive into the tech used in the game and it's a fascinating watch.
The ps5 is literally just a more powerful ps4. And the ps4 wasn't much of a jump from the ps3 either. Consoles have become as cut and paste as cod games
Awesome video. The PS4 library is amazing. I have had a ton of fun collecting for it and don't see an end in sight 😂 Ketsui is top tier. PS4 is a shmup beast!
Dude The Order was one of the few games where i literally sat in awe of the graphics and beautiful architecture. Explored every little square inch of this gem. Wish they made a sequel.
I remember maybe a year or two before the release of the PS5, I looked at many reviews of "The Order 1886" and many people online called this game trash. I played this game for myself and quickly came to discover the game isn't as bad as many think it is. There are a couple of reasons why so many people, I think, disliked this game: (1) Old English terms in the game that many people cannot relate to, these days (2) Plus, this game is maybe beatable in 4 hours. I'm pretty glad I spent my time playing and beating The Order 1886 because it is indeed an enjoyable game once you spend enough time paying attention to the context of the story and the characters involved.
18:45 What? The length wasn't THE issue, nor it being SP only. The game is just garbage. Have you actually played it or just talking as a collector? This is a non-hidden, well known turd. Maybe it becomes coprolite, then we can talk.
Great video, I actually quite enjoy The Order 1886. One criminally underrated game on the PS4 has to be Girls Und Panzer: Dream Tank Match. It may not be everyones taste but the gameplay is really fun
I think part of the reason The Order 1886 failed was unlucky timing. The gaming trend at the time was tacked on multiplayer modes to extend single player games, even if it was heavy-handedly inserted (e.g. Assassin’s Creed, Metal Gear, Arkham Origins). Now we’re seeing the pendulum swing away heavily from live service and even a bit away from multiplayer in general. I wonder if the reception to a big budget, graphically impressive, narratively tight, action game would be different today.
A lot of great games in this video, if there’s a PS4 game that’s a hidden gem I would love for you to talk about one day is concrete genie it’s a really cool adventure game with a lot of creativity & imagination
Kind of a silly title, but I really enjoy the Shenmue I + II collection. It is definitely a relic of its time, but the terrible voice acting is actually funny to hear and the game itself is relaxing.
Maybe you can create separate hidden gems Genre videos. Top 10 Rpg Top ten Shooters Top Ten indies Etc on the PS4 that plays on the ps5? Just a thought?
Hotshot Racing is not mentioned enough I feel, it's a great racing game IMO. I've always loved the flat shaded poly look since Virtua Racing, but the driving experience here is much better. I picked it up on Switch.
Medievil isn't obscure, but it definitely gets overlooked and it isn't as popular as Crash, Metal Gear, Spyro Tomb Raider, so I love to see this game getting the attention it deserves.
I got the order 1886 day one, what a great looking game, it can still hold up with todays standards and that's not a small accomplishment. Those games with that "wow factor" are becoming less and less as time goes by.
I have been looking for Gundam Breaker physical but can’t seem to find a reasonable price. No luck on the ps store either so I just assume it’s not available on there?
Something metal Jesus and a lot of us have in common is obviously we just love gaming but not just that we love variety. We're not about any console wars, we don't just play 1 live service game. We branch out from generation to generation and I love that. I like how I can turn on a metal Jesus video and he's talking about some dope ps2 games I never heard of and then in another he's playing all sorts of new games that just came out on all sorts of different platforms. Also just want to add the hidden gem videos have always been my favorite. That's actually how I discovered metal Jesus years ago.
It's tough to remember games you've mentioned in previous videos, but I would call these hidden gems for people that overlooked them because they don't enjoy competitive shooters. Titanfall 2 and Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare both have top tier single player campaigns. In fact, Titanfall 2's campaign might be my favorite FPS campaign, ever. Outer Wilds (not Outer Worlds, different game) is really neat. I'd compare it to something like No Man's Sky meets The Witness. Perhaps The Witness is a hidden gem? Jamestown+ is an excellent shoot'em up that started on Steam, but eventually made it to PS4. Bridge Constructor Portal is a puzzle game where you build bridges for Lemmings, basically. It's got the Portal humor/theme and there are portals that make the bridge building more interesting. Battle Chasers: Nightwar, I think you've mentioned this one before, but I'll never pass an opportunity to bring it up. It's an RPG with World of Warcraft style graphics and Final Fantasy X combat. Battle Princess Madelyn is a pretty neat Ghosts and Goblins style game with nice pixel art. Geometry Wars 3: Dimensions is almost as good as Geometry Wars 2. Need for Speed Rivals was a launch game, iirc. It's locked at 30fps, but I remember it being a really fun NFS game.
I have over a thousand Ps4 games, so as I make my way through the backlog, this list is sure to change, but these are my favorite Ps4 games thus far: ▪︎It Takes Two ▪︎Ary and the Secret of Seasons ▪︎The Last Tinker: City of Colors ▪︎Sackboy: A Big Adventure ▪︎Moving Out ▪︎Hogwarts Legacy ▪︎Immortals Fenyx Rising ▪︎Stray ▪︎A Hat in Time ▪︎Yestermorrow
YES! The Order 1886. Fantastic game with a deep deep lore that was sadly never explored 😢 HotShotsRacing is fantastic, the drifting can be tricky, but when you get it, it is bliss. Huge fan of VR, buf Paper Beast never really clicked with me. A really really underrated VR game is DownTheRabbitHole 😍 Great vid, bring us more PS4 goodness 💙
According to the Playstation blog, ps5 version of Paper Beasts is playable without VR!: "With the release of the PS VR2, and thanks largely to the power of the PS5, the opportunity to renew Paper Beast was an opportunity we didn’t want to miss. This new VR platform brings fresh new features and unrivaled rendering that we wanted to explore. Better yet, this edition of Paper Beast can also be played without VR."
The Order was a game with potential and graphics. That's it. When a game gives you multiple copy paste qte boss fights you know it's below average. Not worth wasting 5 hours of your life on it. Specially because the story isn't even complete.
Crazy that this video came out today for me :O I literally just ordered a PS4, Bloodborne & Ghost of Tsushima and a SSD to upgrade it lol and it arrived today. Convenient timing :D
Medievil will always hold a special place in my heart. Growing up in a poor household, I came across Medievil back when I use to get games because of garage sales. I bought a Jampack demo disc that contained the trial version of Medievil. Given that you could only progress so much on the demo, I told myself that one day when I could afford to splurge on games, I would buy this game in a full version. Skip a few years and finally bought not only this game but unintentionally waiting for a remastered version, making it all that more special to me. I purchased this game along with a ps5. Good times!
Yes, Medievil! I don't know how hidden it actually is, but not enough people have played this game. Especially if you're into Tim Burton movies this is the perfect third person action adventure game, with some of the best voice acting on the PS1. Also a great game for playing during Halloween due to its cartoony horror vibe with lots of undead and evil pumpkins.
