I would love to see more of these types of videos. Seeing specific ones based on other comparative consoles would be interesting, such as a one for Dreamcast or any other Sega console, etc.
Always like to suggest an Rts for this era too, esp for the PlayStation, which I think has a great selection, Command and Conquer is the easier game to get into that all three of the systems that spring to mind (SegaSaturn being the third) for this to gen have it also has 2 other games to play if you like the first and all three games aren't too expensive either. 👍 Worth going for the Red Alert titles because they added mouse controller support with controller [shapes] buttons and mouse-click combo shortcuts when both controllers are plugged into the PlayStation. Beyond that lies the rarely used systemlink option which for only the Red Alert titles of C&C. Once one has a mouse controller, Dune 2000 for its interspersing of good cutscenes with well-known actors and actresses (also supporting PS1 system link that has a mission where players join forces against an AI enemy) and Warzone 2100 for trading a narrower angle view for a drop-angle of view over the landscape with what I might consider more interesting graphics. More that I have to dig into for RTS titles on PS1 but I'm astounded how there weren't more point-and-click RTSs and was astounded how the genre took a hard stop on the the PS2.

Welcome back Jason. Excellent choice of starter games the way., I've owned every single Playstation system to date. The only thing I don't like about PlayStations these days is compatibility issue for previous systems. Just another way for them to make money off digital. Spyro 2 is without a doubt the "Banjo Kazooie" of the PS1. Additionally, Crash Team Racing is hands down the greatest Kart Racer of all time (followed by Mario Kart 7)
Absolutely, I always play CTR because I didnt have Nintendo other than NES back then. I finally try Mario Kart and surprise surprise it felt just OK ish. then I try mario kart 8 and its felt a bit too easy... The fine Mario kart experience is Double Dash and DS version. CTR is trully perfect, balanced, challenging experience, trying the latest CTR remake and its just solidified it
Ape Escape is also a worthy contender for transitional platformer. It plays like Mario 64 more than Spyro and Crash. The Mega Man Legends games while not exactly the same type of game as OoT, they definitely took some inspiration from it. Anyone who is a fan of Goldeneye should also enjoy games like The World is Not Enough or Medal of Honor. I can think of a lot more games for a Playstation Starter Guide for SNES Fans.
@@Alianger It was released first but OoT had been in development since 1995. It's possible the devs saw some early footage as inspiration. Or maybe it was just a coincidence. Legends 2 definitely took some ideas from OoT.
