even though it was a launch title, and didn't have as much courses, they were all fun to drive, and each one gave it their own uniqueness to the races, and the game felt a lot better to play than most other arcade games, and sound design and the ost itself is amazing to boot, and what i've liked the most is the cars, for starters, each car has their own gauge clusters, which is cool even by today's standards, an each car handles and drives differently, and every car neeed to be mastered and be driven differently if you wanted to always win first.
Yeah, doesn't Ridge racer sell more than those games anyway? The thing is, I want Ridge Racer to feel like it did in R4 and RV...Ridge Racer 7 felt like the cars were hovering over the road. Too silky smooth like they were flying. Felt almost like a WipEout game. Ridge racer V had the best driving feel.
Ridge Racer V was one of the best racing games i've ever played. It was Smooth, fast and challenging. I would play it again, if i found the Disc for the Game xD
Namco confirmed Ridge Racer 8 a while ago, and rumors circulated in 2018 that it would be a Nintendo Switch exclusive. Let’s hope they follow up with that at E3 this year, because I’m currently having fun with Ridge Racer 7 despite some bumps in the road (no pun intended), and I need to see if they go back to the series' roots instead of trying to be like Burnout (i.e. Unbounded).
@@E24KLawson Ridge Racer 7 is a damn fun game but the "feel" is much different than RRV's. I prefer RRV for gameplay but man, I LOVE the course variety in RR7 - there are just so many tracks! A perfect Ridge Racer game would combine the gameplay of RRV and have the endless modes of play of RR7.. To me, RR7 felt less like driving and more like flying....it's weird, feels good, but a little to "automatic" and "flowy." Hard to explain. RRV and RR4 both just felt better to play.
@@CJTranceAddiction My honest feelings. Ridge Racer 1 and Revo were wonky as heck, but they were the first games so it was excusable. Rage Racer. Replayed it recently and I hate it. The controls are so finicky that end up taking tight hairpins facing the outside and t-boning the wall. Type 4 improved it, V refined it and then the PSP games practically defined the handling model for the rest of the series. (Until the Vita game killed the series. Most people blame Unbounded, but no.)
@@richardsavings6690 I love the PSP game, but I still think RRV is the best damn Ridge Racer game. The only downside to it is I feel they rushed it out for the launch. If it had more course variety it would have been perfect. But at the same time, the difficulty of the game almost made up for lack of courses. RRV is a very challenging game and to this day still only beat the black duel car.
Well, Ridge Racer V is basically a remake of the first Ridge Racer, so I don't see how it was rushed. The only thing I felt was missing from the game was a simple Arcade mode where you go up against thirteen other racers. Other than that, Ridge Racer V was an awesome game all around.
I've actually never played this before this playthrough, good fun! I know I didn't try to unlock angel and devil but might try to do that another time.
RacingGameArchive Well it’s good to hear you’ll still try to unlock the four duel cars. Good luck if you also plan to unlock the PAC-MAN GP and special cars from said GP. In order to unlock the PAC-MAN GP and Pac-Man himself, you need to reach 3,000 km/1,500 mi. Once that’s done, you’ll be able to unlock Blinky, Inky, Pinky, and Clyde by beating the PAC-MAN GP. Just a heads up, the ghosts you have to watch out for the most are Inky and Pinky, especially Pinky. Good luck once again, and I’ll be waiting patiently until then!
Type 4 I would believe. If you count finishing a single team’s campaign as beating the game then it’s entirely possible. Any game after that the only was is to get high on caffeine, forget you exist, and sacrifice your mental health
Having only played the PSP games and R4, I'm surprised that there is a lot more to seaside route 765 (sunny beach) /ridge city highway than I thought. I was incredibly stunned there was an alternate route from sunny beach (outer pass I think?) or turn right from that tunnel (above the city)
It was many years ago, I remember that my brother surprised me when he came with the PS2 and ridge racer v (I don't remember if it was the first game released for ps2) It was spectacular, a complete addiction, great game, beautiful nostalgia.
Legendary game and still love it till this day. I was a pro on the game, took me some time to master but its super fun to play and it was a full game and I still have it 😍😍😍
Not much footage on this game is there just found a copy in the wild for 2 pounds had to get it but I'm going to see if it supports 1080i threw gsm and gameplay of course
Put Lightning McQueen no. 95, Strip Weathers no. 43, Chick Hicks no. 86, Doc (The Fabulous Hudson Hornet no. 51) from Cars Xbox 360 video game and Cruz Ramirez, Jackson Storm, Junior Moon, Louise Nash and River Scott from Cars 3: Driven To Win in a video game series of Ridge Racer right away please? I want to see it on a 100% longplay video.
No, just RIP well made ones. Indie devs will take cracks at it occasionally but nothing of note yet. I blame synthwave and people trying to have low poly visuals on hardware intentionally built to handle high poly models with ease

I just started playing ridge racer 5 and this game is hard! feels like my car is slipping like crazy everytime im near those sharp turns and I can never reach above 4 even in the first race! Anyone got some advice
Best is start over with the easier handling car and learn the track, the game has a bit of a steep learning curve. When I played first I barely made it in the top 8 I eventually completed it and unlocked everything.
This game is more arcade than it is simulation. When I had my fastest lap in 56 seconds I was way back in 7th place. That’s when I gave up on it. Not enough courses either.
Well, it's Ridge Racer. The whole point of the franchise is being extremely arcadey. I'm not sure what you were expecting If you're talking about the difficulty, yeah, it's way harder than simulaterish games like GT3 because the game leaves very little room for error. In GT3, GT4, etc, the AI was slow and the game didn't have any catch-up mechanics, so races were pretty easy as long as you knew how to drive As for the lack of courses... It's the first game ever released on the PS2, and it fits on a CD-rom, so cut it some slack XD
Man, I just did something stupid. Recently I re-connected my PS2 and re purchased Ridge racer V (for $4) as I missed that game. Really felt like playing it again. But yeah, I have just finished the Normal Grand Prix and I got like no new cars. I was like, is this it for the game? How do I get those super cars that Ridge Racer was known for? So I figured maybe I gotta go into Hard mode now. Once I did, I saved and it DID NOT continue. I over wrote my normal game with the hard mode and it didn't save all my normal Grand Prix trophies. AAAArghhh, I gotta do all of that all over again?? How do you save all the difficulty wins under one save file? Is it even possible??? Anyway, I got pretty good at this so it should be now easier to get through those races a second time.
Are you on about the spectra, crinale, angeleus and the rumeur. Well there should be " R " lap records that you have to beat in time attack to unlock them
And about the whole save file thing. I think it just overwrites whatever was previously saved. Tbh for hard mode if you beat all the extra gp stuff there's still the ultimate gp too.
@@sheikheren1312 Yeah, I currently just collected my 1500 miles for pac man GP. I have that, the 99 trial and beating Spirit left to do in this game. I already have a save file ready for "Hard" mode. I think I'm ready. Gives me some more Ridge Racer game time.
@@sheikheren1312 Thanks but yeah, everything has been resolved since I posted this lol. I realized you need separate save files for each difficulty. I will max out my normal game and then start a hard game. I gotta master the Baseline Bay course with the Himmel. I beat the times with my Kamata but it isn't strong enough to beat the duel cars. The Himmel is great but I'm more used to Kamata.
@@CJTranceAddiction I'll be honest I'm a solare type guy. Like I just unlock the standard and extra class solare and just beat every gp and lap record with it. And the duels too.
