You fool, I have reaped many souls using the seal of Orichalcos with the Monarch strategy. However, my opponent's extra deck monsters are a problem, and sometimes I'm 300 attack too short even with the seal to destroy some monsters If only there was some way to deal with this problem. Hmm

I remember a hilarious game I had once. It was a very casual game when I ran a funny traps deck that ran seal just for the lols. When I dropped Orichalcos, I had two creatures with the same atk points on the board. They were weak but I just left them there because Orichalcos's lightning rod effect prevented both from being attacked. And since my opponent didn't have enough removal get over my protection traps and destroy the seal twice in the same turn, and his only win-con was attacking with creatures, he eventually decked himself out. He was like "I can't believe I'd lose my soul to this shit if this were in the anime." This traps deck is the same I once won a game with by magical cylindering a blue-eyes something something with 4500 atk twice in a row. It's a horrible deck, but a hilarious one. Just a disclaimer: I'm not saying the deck/card is good or that this strategy is reliable (because oh boy, it's not), this is just a funny case from two joke decks playing each other.

Im now putting one Gift of Greed in my Trickstar deck To style on people.

I remember when I was making a Crystal Beast deck, and Malefic Rainbow Dragon was a major boss monster in it, and I was unsatisfied with the amount of field spells I had, so I added a Seal on top of the 3 Terraforming and 3 Rainbow Ruins. The deck also made use of the Claw of Hermos, so I could convert extra Rainbow and Malefic Rainbow dragons into Red Eyes Black Dragon Swords that would provide a major power boost; naturally, the extra deck had nothing else in it, and the main deck had 52 cards in it.

As a fan of the anime, I liked running it in Monarchs and in Fire Kings just because it was satisfying to use. I'm not really a competitive player yet, but I'm working toward getting better! This video has been a huge help, thanks!

I play orichalcos in my pure guardians deck and it works like a charm. I've even beaten the best duelist ever with it.

This card helped me win with my ojama deck. But true, it should not be played with my toon deck.

I used one of these in a malefic deck because to me it seemed like a good idea to have a field spell card that is a bit harder to destroy than normal. The 500 point boost to Malefic Stardust Dragon was a nice bonus.

I myself thought about adding the Seal to Monarchs but that was because I never knew about their own Field Spell, and at the time I thought about how many of the monarchs have the two same ATK values of 2400 and 2800, so you’d get an attack lock if you only had 2 or more of them with the same ATK. Since then, however, I’ve come to learn that that doesn’t matter a whole ton in many situations. So thanks for the intel.

I'm not good at seeing beyond the 1st level synergy of cards so I put them in my deck to test them and try and figure out thier strengths and weaknesses through trail and error.

I tried it with the 2 upgrades in Dev-Pro, even that was fun at best and a waste of everyone's time even more often.

Funnily, Monarchs with Orichalcos was among the last decks I built before I left the game. Only March of the Monarch and a couple other Monarch/Tributed monsters was out yet so the Monarch field spell didn't exist yet. Only thing I remember of having used that is once having my opponent surrender after not being able to get past my Fiendish Engine Omega (pre-errata) that was protected by March and its tokens that were protected by Seal.

I remember back in my days I played seal of orichalcos in my Undefeated Jerry Beans Man Meta deck in a YCS and the population of players diminished because I’ve collected soo many souls.

I didn't have Domain when I first thought to put Seal in, so I didn't understand what you were getting at at first. Also, I don't have Dragonic Diagram either; so that might be why others were talking about using those cards.

id only pay orichalcos for set rotation

I only consider the Seal due to the built in Double Marauding Captain aspect but that's about it

random question. would this card work in the thunder seahorse decks? i dont play the deck, but i know its a normal summon swarm deck, no idea about an extra tho.

Orichalcos in Fire kings. You rarely go into the extra deck and the activation nuke of special summons can kick start effects on board. Also immune to the nepthys tech.

I usually play it with set rotation. To block out someone from playing their field card , and if I happen to draw it it’s effective in increase attack.

Used to use it with relinquished set up.... Back when there was not even synchros. Pretty good lost the card awhile ago my friend Jimmy's soul is trapped in it somewhere. Poor guy.

I jokingly, JOKINGLY, thought about playing Seal of Orichalcos in Monarch's.

The weird part is that if set rotation activated the field spells, instead of setting them, seal would be nuts as a way to Seal your opponent out of extra decks summoning. It's just funny how close Seal was to being decent as a floodgate.

I mean, I have a monarch varient that used Seal, but, thats because Im using the comboes that my extra deck to zero for value and effects from card send from my extra deck. The Megazaborg combo specifically. So, it is very similar, while I will say Domain is usually better, I perfer the disruption of the Megazaborg, while, I also do run domain in it, sometimes it is actually dead if Mega does not go off. So, you didnt go deep enough dzeeff, but, good video as always.

7:24 I put Number 7: Lucky Straight in every deck that has 3+ level 7 monsters..... it’s primarily for the memez and I like to gamble. Plus when I do get to roll that seven it does have a nice effect

That's why the seal of orichalcos is the one of the most dangerous field spell that can cause trouble.

I played ygo pro before,and for true dracos i used to fill the extra deck with random end game fire,earth,water and wind monsters to float from Metaltron(that guy that can get immune to everything)

I love playing Seals in my heart of the underdog/ ultimate offering vanilla deck, so many 2400+ beaters summoned, a true meta deck imo cant change my mind.

doug i really like your videos and agree with almost everything. this is not a criticisim of this video just something that i have wanted to see from you for a while. instead of telling us what not to do ONLY. i would love to see you ALSO tell us a deck or decks that can actually use this strategy and that will actually improve that strategy. again really love the content just would love to see some more positives from your videos

Any advice on building a deck around the seal? My primary strategies revolve around the seals ability to protect weaker monsters, and using monsters that can attack directly such as Servant of Catabolism. Perhaps I’ll pair it with 1 or 2 Bowganian for an extra 1200 damage per turn. Having monsters with equal attack lock out my opponents monsters. What my deck needs is good support cards that can protect the seal and more importantly, protect my weaker monsters from spell/trap/monster effects. I may run several Crush Card Virus and combo it with Dimensional Fissure, banishing weaker monsters. Not particularly amazing strategies, but any advice helps!

Play Extra Net in Monarchs so you get some draw power when your opponent Special Summons from the Extra Deck. It can easily be replaced when you draw the Monarch field spell.

Speaking of Monarchs, Kuraz the Light Monarch is a good card in 'Trickstars' because while it gives your opponent 1-2 draws when it destroys 1 of there cards (Also you can destroy your own cards to get 1-2 draws)

I actually played Seal in Monarchs during DUEA format (it was actually pretty good against Shadolls) when Stormforth came out. When you got 2 Monarchs on field our opponent couldn't attack and then March of the Monarchs protected your Monarchs it created a lock and it was fun but yeah play Domain instead of Seal.

It's your channel so it's down to you what you do or don't do but I'd love to see you do a vid based on say the top casual or low budget decks. I know you mostly look more at the competitive side of things in yugioh but then I think this would help your subscribers who have a much smaller budget or don't want to do the competitive

9:49 True... I didn't know about the Monarch Field Spell I don't know about a LOT of cards though. Only recently discovered Nine-Tailed Fox and that card is probably ancient as far as Yugioh goes. Lol.

Kinda off topic, but a lot of these issues is a similar one I’m having when trying to find a way to use bastion in duel links, cause his whole thing is elemental field spells that are in theory nice, but its hard to find a mono or near mono attribute deck thats consistent enough to be worth using and doesn’t use field spells itself to make running that ability worth it

Another funny interaction could be Fire Kings/Nephthys. Given that they wanna be destroyed, and that they are usually special summoned out, it could be an interesting tech. I get Fire King Island is a card, but it could as a 4th Island in a sense, that doesn't have to be destroyed in order to get the field wipe effect.

So I tested it out on true dracos. It's not bad if you draw into it and have no other field spell. The 500 attack boost is actually not bad the other down sides don't apply because you don't use the extra deck and you'd only put 1 SoO in your deck anyway. Just add it in to make a 41 card deck

Seal of Orichalcos can be used with Inspector Boarder and Gren Maju stun deck, most builds won't touch the extra deck.

Back when the Seal came out, I thought that it would potentially work for Malefics whose field wasn't the best or Earthbound Immortals as they didn't have a native field. Regardless, Mausoleum of the Emperor worked better for EI and Necrovalley for both.

I did this, but only because I lost my domain of the true monarchs for a bit. It’s back now, and orichalcos is out of the deck. The seal has now found a home in my graveyard recursion prototype deck. I’m still working out the kinks.

As a player who's always been into monarch decks I can tell you that seal of orichalcos was sort of a staple BEFORE the structure deck with its New support was announced. If you look At 2015 mega-monarch builds you Will find cards that had somewhat mimics what would be the '' domain'' monarch deck. Duallity, carcard d, battle fader, jackfrost. Majesty' sand vanity's and the seal of orichalcos are cards is their respective proportions cards bonded to the monarch strategy.
