I tried playing Seal of Orichalcos in my Dark Magician/Magnet Warrior deck. Absolute Garbage card. I lost the duel, and ever since then I haven't felt like myself. 0/10

I used the anime version of Seal. I never lost! That soul taking ability comes in clutch a lot

And we shouldn't forget that Set Rotation is limited, meaning you're just as likely to draw a brick Seal of Orichalcos as you are to draw Set Rotation.

I have a perfect otk strategy! Orichalcos, smile world, mega morph, twin swords, and shooting star bow. The way it works is you do the combo and then your opponent asks if you're ok and then that's when you strike

The real reason why you shouldn't play The Seal of Orichalcos is because *if you lose the duel you lose your SOUL*

Just give them the Seal with Set Rotation in a Tier 0 Orichalcos Meta, when they already activated their own Seal. They can‘t activate it twice the same duel. One day, this will be relevant, mark my words.

Valkyries don’t use an extra deck and don’t really have a special field spell that’s standout. Could use luminous spark over seal I guess. But seal has some armor to it that other field spells don’t Valkyries also need some attack help so 500 attack actually helps them a lot

This is probably a dumb observation, but it's just an odd thought I had. Set Rotation is a quick play, which means when set it has a spell speed of two. If your opponent has their feild spell out, and go to use its effect and they also have monsters on the feild since the stack would go first in last out could it be possible to set rotate a feild spell card onto their current feild spell to negate the effect. Then if the spell card is the seal, it would create a time bomb situation. There is some cards that can flip opponents cards face up. Now granted this is a lot of theorizing but it's just an observation

Because the only way to prove you're evil is to force you to use a card that lets you be evil Doug. Unless of course you're afraid of losing even when there's no stakes.

I really loved that conclusion. Thank you dzeeff. I always saw your videos as focused for competitive yu gi oh but i think a lot of casual player might feel "forced" by yugitubers saying "don't play that" or "this card is bad". So for once, seeing a yugituber say "if you want to, as long as you oblige to the rules, you can play this card" is a really good thing !

Small Brain: Using set rotation to give your opponent the Seal of Orichalos. Me, an intellectual: Activating Exchange,m with only the Seal or Orichalos, in my hand to give to the opponent and then forcing them into a situation where they have no choice but to activate it.

Fun fact: not only does Seal not protect itself from destruction via game mechanics, it would be utterly irrelevant if it did so. When MR3 gave us the two Field Zones, it also changed the rules so that activating a field over a field doesn't _destroy_ the previous field, but just straight-up sends it to the grave. Consequently, there's no way to "protect" a field from being replaced - the only way to prevent a field from being replaced is to prevent the player from being able to activate or set further fields, period.

That set rotation to gateway of chaos sounds like a pretty spicy side deck tech

I gotta say I really appreciated the part about not having to follow the meta if you dont want to, don't go to locals expecting to stomp them with your seal deck, but if you want to play it more power to you. Last locals I went to this guy was playing a generic fairy deck just because he enjoyed the cards, he lost every game but after each people would ask if they'd like to play against one of their more casual decks then they'd have some fun together.

Anyway @Dzeeff it could be funny side deck combo if you know that they play field spell and use their effect after placing monster. Some Yubels or Tenpais. You can flip Set Rotation in response to their field spell effect activation, replace their field and they need to make a choice - activate seal (probably won't do that) or lock their field. There are better option to lock zone (as you said), but looking into fear in your opponents eyes is priceless :D

Hey dzeeff, I find yugioh fun by taking underrated decks and experimenting with them to make them as competitively viable as possible. Surprisingly back in 2013 I had the god card deck doing pretty well. Winning 70% of matches against meta decks. I also had a guardian deck (eatos and dreadscyrhe) combo deck going off. I couldn’t win over 50% but it was still cool getting a guardian deck to win against meta 50% of the time. The only other deck I made somewhat viable in 2013 was an earthbound immortal deck as that was insanely consistent. It would only lose to 2 meta decks. Can’t remember which ones anymore but it’s pretty fun to try to make bad decks viable.

You can use seal of orichalcos in token beatdown since they’re all 0 attack your opponent can’t attack any monsters you control. Then you just draw until you get United we stand and OTK them with a god damn sheep token

There are multiple good cards to use with Set Rotation (Gateway to Chaos, Closed Forest, Oracle of Zefra), but the Seal just isn't one of them. How is that so hard to understand?

If they would remove the restrictions it would still not be very good i think, but removing all of the restrictions would make it into a card you could include in some rogue strategies i think. Also play it with Esper Star Sparrow D.D. Deck, will beat everything in 2 turns ofc. :))

You can play both gateway and seal with set rotation in a stun deck which doesn't special summon or use the extra deck at all because you can lock your opponent from their field zone and get an attack boost for your floodgate monsters with no down sides other than gateway being a garnet

Guys, it’s so simple 1. Run seal of orichalcos in any deck 2. Also run any card that let’s you show your hand to your opponent 3. Play said card to show your opponent you have the seal of orichalcos 4. Your opponent surrenders, knowing that if they don’t, they risk losing their soul

theres really only one exception but the pay off is dead draw potential. play 3 orichalcos chances are OK that 2 will remain in deck when you use set rotation. one on your side one on theres; you activate yours and since its once per duel the game mechanics prevent them from using their copy you gave them. If I missed a different name clause in set rotation forget I mention this I do not use the card as I do not want to give the opponent cards.

I ran it with Monarchs and had success with it in locals i used it with Demise of the Land (you know something that should be actively used nowadays)

There's one other ability that most people don't realize that the Seal of Orichalcos possesses that can make the card viable. Apparently, the Seal of Orichalcos also makes a 5-year-old photoshop your eyes closed.

There is also the fact that the opponent can literally pop the Seal before they flip it up with cards like MST, Twin Twisters, or Cosmic Cyclone, thus making the “lockdown” very useless as well.

8:44 that is true, my friends tell me to not mix Spellbook supports with monarch supports in a deck to use Jowgen+Majesty fiend+Secret vilage of Spellcasters+Royal decree, i like those cards and did it now i dont have friends

I feel the same way about not always playing the most optimal cards in my own decks. Example I love morphtronics ive never really experienced another archetype that let's me create combos on the fly because of how well the monsters synergize with each other but they aren't always the most optimal archetype because alot of the more modern archetypes can outplay them easily but I still play them because I've never had more fun with any other archetype.

Time to make a deck that’s called “ooops all orichalcos” and full it with cards you say not to play it with

There is always a bigger fish, aka there is always a card that does the same thing but better from another card. If you can’t find one, you either aren’t looking hard enough, or it hasn’t been printed yet

Let's play a multiple card Raigeki that they get to decide if/when to activate in a format with Raigeki and 3 Dark Hole, which no one plays anyway. This isn't even the biggest point but it stuck out to me lol

Don't worry I only play seal of orculous in my guardian deck.

But SOMETIMES you might want the 500 ATK boost or non-targeting effects... Whereas you might have no use for Gateway to Chaos... So Seal is less of a brick than Gateway if you draw it with no other field spells...

I'll be honest, I had considered playing Seal of Orichalcos with set rotation and for many of the reasons listed. It makes sense now not to play this card, not that I dispute this video, my logic prior to this card, was use set rotation when my opponent would activate their field spell, specifically I thought it would work better against Salamangreats, but after thinking over Gateway to Chaos just seemed far more practical

I'm still going to play this in my Petit Angel Deck.

as long as you haven’t already summoned eater of millions, this card would work well in an eater/gren maju deck. definitely not a GREAT pick, but it definitely would work considering you’ll just be banishing the extra deck anyway

what are your thoughts on the field spell extra net? ,ive been play testing it at locals and usually get 3 or 4 draws of it ,but i guess its only good going first .
