One thing I have learnt in 22 years of my life is... Stop taking permissions for everything... After a certain age we have brains enough to think and analyse stuff through our own heads... Think something out well... Make a list of pros and cons and just do... Maybe it doesn't go well and things turn upside down... But thats what experience is... You will learn!

@@cam0987 my technique for dealing with shouting is giving logical replies in a composed manner... You need to have a strong gut and take the shouting... If it becomes unbearable leave the room and stay inside your room for a few hours. Trust me first they'll say, " badtameez hai" later they'll accept it and understand when their heads cool down. Absolutely spot on Varun. Moving out of home for a few years has changed my life. No pampering, listening to different perspectives from people at hostel, growing as a person, breaking boundaries (in a positive way), taking decisions yourself. Your video aptly sums up my experience of moving out of home.

From what I learner in the Upanishads, the Father would give sole responsibility of their child to the guru. More importantly in this case the guru would act like a father, so the kids were supervised very strictly, much more than the University and Colleges. Even more important point is that the studies of Vedas under a guru include knowledge of proper conduct, moral, social etc. while the study system in colleges do not consider that, unless you are studying social science or similar topic. So you trying to use Vedas to back up your point is not correct. Coming back to the current scenario, a good number of children in the age of 17+ who leave home do get derailed and some in a pretty bad way. One of my friend died in a train accident, during college, some were saying he was under influence of Alcohol, some were saying other things. Talking about the kids who lived in college hostel, I have seen few of my own batch mates who got derailed, some wasted a good part of their college life just chasing girls; as they were very much influences by the movies, very few went into alcohol, most of them are now doing sub par jobs and just making by in life. The others who showed restrain are doing better. This does not mean that people who live at home with parents can not get into such habits, but in general the chances are a bit low. Anyways I do believe that being on your own is important but what is more important is that you learn the skills to be on your own, so that when the need arises you can handle things. In a way what I'm saying is that you can learn the skills that are required to pursue a certain job or business using the free time you have, as a result of staying with family by doing many online courses and have a bigger headstart in life. For everything you gain, you loose something. Everyone's situation in life is different, just coming down here and making a bold statement is good for views but not practical. I would advice readers to analyse thier own situation in life rather then simply get influenced by someone else's views, also since the target audience of this video is 15-20 from what I understand, presenting only a strong one sided bias is not a good thing. Listen everyone's views guys and girls, but decide your path on your own, based on what you think is right. The universe is big and there is no 1 path to success but infinite

I wonder why people get influenced under such people. Everybody has their own life and have to deal with something. Instead of just labeling your opinion right he should have atleast tried to understand the 19 years age old generation. And i feel no regret that i left my home under influence of somebody. Very true, during my college years I did see a lot of CA students, they would literally stay in the library all day, for someone doing that intense work even saving those 2-3 hours counts a lot. But there are not many people acknowledging these facts of life, I see most commentors are reminising nostalgically. Other are thinking he is some kind of authority on the subject and being all yes sir, yes sir. People should learn the fact that making a video on YT is mostly a matter of views, if a certain topic is trending or some other bigtime youtuber makes videos on a topic, everyone else just follows, they make videos around the same topic as soon as they can to capitalise on the views. And hence their videos are a result of less to no research. In most cases the video are like reading an article you will find on Google's first page, just add in an incorrect fact from ancient India and there is your receipe for new video. What a waste of humanity's time.

It is unfortunate that my father passed away when I was very young, but my grandparents have sort of used it as an excuse to do everything for me. I am extremely grateful and a tad bit pissed that they did it. I am not joking when I say that my comfort zone was so damn great that I did not have the intellect to fill a cheque for some folks when I was 21. I feel the pain now. I tried explaining it and they understood like 20%. The rest just went over their head. They use emotional blackmail. Like Seriously! Now, I'm 27 and planning for my Master's and now, they're like how will you take care of things when you move to the States. Well, geez, I wouldn't be doing this if only you'd let me try stuff on my own for at least 2 years. Surely, I will make some mistakes, but isn't that how you learn and grow up? If you shield a person from experiences then, you're just paving way for a hard downfall at a later point in life. At that point, getting back up or knowing how to do so will also be very difficult.

@@anilarora4143 First thing, take some time to settle into your new environment. Enjoy it. Try to develop monetizable skills. Programming in any language, graphic design, photography, content creation, etc. It will be hard initially, but you will get there. One key suggestion is to spend at least a 4-6 months in areas that you have an interest in. Learn as much as you can about each of your interest in those 6 months and then see what you like the most. If you enjoy it, find a way to monetize it. Once you start making money, don't buy Apple products or any fancy stuff. Learn to invest in the stock markets, ETFs, mutual funds, etc. Diversify it. Start a SIP, if that works. Now, you may not have heard about some or most of these, but fret not, start learning from resources online and in college you will meet at least one person who is interested in each of the things mentioned above. Learn from friends and remember, "You are always the average of the 5 people that you surround yourself with". So, choose wisely.

As an atheist individualist who comes from a traditional Japanese and religious household, I completely agree with the importance of independence. I moved out at 16 and I'm currently in my early 30s. I simply don't subscribe to any traditional or religious doctrines, nor do I agree with most of their perception of right and wrong. It was a difficult life, juggling work and highschool, but it was well worth it. The reason why alot of young adults today are reluctant to pursue independence is because they have been psychologically conditioned to be afraid of doing anything that's challenging.

Most of our bad lifestyle choices and habits take root during our hostel years-enabled and fostered by watching our peers and freedom without answerability. If one can be wise enough to keep good habits, well and good-otherwise it is very difficult to break out of negative lifestyle patterns later.

I am almost 26 now, still dependent on my parents. Collected degrees and diplomas from my hometown. My Parents just didn’t want me to leave even when I was able to get some good colleges and voila, I regret that decision. Currently, Living a decent life but consumption is anyways surpassing production. Unable to visualise my mission. Although, I feed myself well bodily, mentally, emotionally but still just don’t feel satiated. I am an introvert but can talk to anyone and quickly make some good connections but unable to keep as I live a rhythmic life. I want to go out now, but I don’t know what will I be doing by going out, secondly I am a single child and parents are at their sensitive age. The only time I feel like going out is when sometimes homely quarrels makes me feel shit about not being independent but on the counter side wisdom keeps my haste in check. Anyone’s opinion/perspective is welcome. How should I view my life ahead ?

Bro as you told, if your parents are in critical age and if you don't want to leave then you can do something remotely. I have seen enough opportunities by doing this. And if you feel that you can go out then don't think about the time you wasted in past. Just go out, it's never too late.

Unfortunately this video by Varun Mayya is fuckall. He's assuming stuff. He's speaking from his own experiences that his parents shut the lights at 10 o clock. Even my parents did. But one who wants to stay awake will do it anyway. He can't take it that some of us actually haven't had major arguments, that we're friends first. He's GUARANTEEING that I boast about my house chores and I bluff about them to look cool. Balls. Apart from my work, I cook dinner for two nights and help my mother during lunches. Whatever they say, for a period of time I'm fully available for house chores. Why? Because it's on my priority list. Simple. I don't work while cooking and dont cook while I'm working. One just needs will. I go out and return back around 3-4 am. Drink and party with buddies on weekends. When my sister is working I even do her share of the house chores. There's mutual respect here and my parents take my opinion before making 90% of the house decisions and listen to me as I listen to them. Every house is different but point is.. Agar parents ko dikhe ki baccha mature hai toh they will include you and let you do whatever you want. But as a kid you also gotta have an attitude and not crush under their scoldings and give it back when needed which most of Indian kids lack. They're all basically wimps and that's why they all try to run from their own parents. Take care of yourself and parents. Chill out.

Him: When you move out you will become independent. Also him: I learnt how to hire a maid and a cook to keep myself functioning :P
@gxoxgirl
@gxoxgirl 2 года назад
Bruh hiring a cook and maid is very common in metropolitan cities where one has to work their asses off for what they desire. Due to time constraints and physical toll, it’s impossible for anyone to cook and clean your house every day. Having house help doesn’t mean he’s not independent. Being independent doesn’t mean t do every work on your own. Simply delegating that task will do too. But living alone made him realise the importance of trust and how he couldn’t blindly put his faith into people he doesn’t know. To hire a house help, you need to be very vigilant with them as some of them can con you or steal from you. All these are a part of life experiences that he’s sharing which doesn’t contravene his point!

@@gxoxgirl Bhai main bhi metro mein rehta hu. It's just that I don't consider this as being truly independent (in the literal sense). Just making an observation. It's my personal opinion. You may or may not concur with me and I understand it. Have a great day!

Learning to cook 10 minutes meals and "keeping" the house clean is enough. There's a thing among chefs in the kitchen , if you don't wanna clean your pan and make sure you grill your steak properly .. please don't listen to privileged useless people like him 😂. He might be earning a lot of money now and giving jobs to kids who are already well to do and would rather go out of his company and try to sell the same Pani puri he's selling instead of doing something useful for the society ..

It may be helpful for the people who are always kept beneath the hands of their parents but not everyone is privileged enough to do so. For example, I'm a college student and i am not able to leave home and go for a hostel just because my parents can't afford it but it just because my parents are not that educated, i take almost all the decision of my life on my own. Everyone's life is different, we should develop these qualities that is the point, no matter at home or by leave home.

The universe is big and there is no 1 path to success but infinite.

The only thing my parents had in mind was to get me married as soon as possible. And it turned out to be a disaster. Now i am a single mom at 25 who left her home to become independent. In past 6 months i learned alot how the world is but i really like out there doing things on my own. I still don't know what my goal is to be in the future. Still exploring things. Honestly, people who say being independent (or just anything else) is against culture have no idea what culture they are talking about. One tends to think that anything out of the ordinary is against our culture. Nobody really has time to skim through old historical works, analyse and prove it. I plan to go abroad for studies and come back by 30. My father, in fact, believes that leaving home is a must for a young man, so no issues in the family regarding that.

What parents must realize is that, no matter how much they try to keep you on the right path, if the kid has a mind of their own they will not listen (which is a good thing). Having a mind of your own, you are able to carry out your own actions, but you must also hold yourself 100% accountable. If you want to be independent and free, do it without the help of your parents. And it is your responsibility, if you go back home, at least comeback as someone who has made a good use of their time and energy.

Well, if you are the only child leaving home for independent living, it's like throwing a weakling into a war, learn from the mistakes your parents already made when they were young instead of making them on your own, this way you save time and also because at the end family is all you truly got(Vin D). So have the guts to take responsibility of a family. That will make you tougher and stronger than independent living.Peace!

Its is such a blessing but also saddening that the most balanced and nuanced perspective on the dynamic of family comes from a non western channel. I was straight up furious watching western creators delight in forsaking family FOREVER; it just really bothered me because while I want to experience outside life, I want to use these collective experiences to make my familial bonds stronger. What a sad state in the west that traditional family values have eroded to the point of people actively rejoicing in fully rejecting the tribe that raised them with love. I understand that each situation has complex dynamics in which people cannot fully feel loved, but it really just seemed like many people wanted to move away from family for reasons rooted entirely in selfishness and resentment, not taking the time to understand why certain family struggle to show love. Its ok, everyones karma is different. Those annoyances brought me to this channel, and now im centered again. I may also have a natural bias since I am a man of faith, that is comfortable unconditionally surrendering, loving, and serving others like Hanuman. I will pray that my family understand the difficult path ahead of me; and I will trust in my faith to be a guiding force that will heal. Shri Ram, Jai Ram, Jai Jai Ram🤚

Yes there are always prons and cons living alone .I have also lived alone but for like several months but living alone like that is exactly not necessary .There is always a different culture other than solely english in our country .See after and during covid ,many have changed ,started and got many got remote jobs that is also a point.(Leaving out any business or studies here..)They did not need to move out. See always a change is not necessary to bring your success that's my point. See you can always be independent but ,what I feel if you dont have clarity in your head ,nothing works just being independent !! I have seen many people in late 40's and 50's staying bachelor in PG and hostel and life did not work for them. But I would recommend live healthy,stay fit and dont get succumbed to too many unnecessary things going on. Many dont know how to earn money ,so tha has nothing to do with living alone and having some friends. I have also seen many people not from village delivery foods at night coming from different city.That could be done on our own city also.This just makes you a freedom wanderer with some money and making your financial way out ,but wont serve you good for a long term purpose living outside.

I smash hit button for you. And subscribed to your channel. You answered lots of my questions. I'm 29, working professional, running the household, imagine your parents stopping you from doing whatever you want, asking you not to move in a different city, not traveling with your friends, not letting to cook your favourite food coz you might make the kitchen dirty which might not be true, imagine a bullshit father coming to abuse you and slap you after eating on your money...All the behaviour which parents do to a class 7 kid, they are doing to 29 year old lady. My mother still interrupts and stops me doing things which are very normal in other households. I have no good emotion left for my parents. I just do my basic duty to them. I want to leave them, I want to see and explore the world, I want to cook myself n burn my hands, I want to learn the shitty world outside n get lost - but alas they still treat me like a kid. It boils my blood. I hate my parents. They did waste a lot of my time, they have no intention of my better future, and used my money. I lost my health due to them. And at the end of the day what will they do ? They will put all the blames on me, make me feel guilty and at the end of the conversation to show themselves clean they will 'we want your good, but everything is your fault '. I mean which parent does that to their adult daughter. You said it right about putting a hand cuff. I'm that Rich Siddhartha who is supposed to work late at night and give money to my parents, but not allowed to leave the castle and see the world myself as I am a woman.

If they are making you guilty to leave, best thing would be to tell them you are getting married and move out. If they stop you, you can in turn tell them what sort of parents are they to not let a 30 year old daughter get married. Tell them society will later laugh at them if you are left unmarried at such a late age, use their trick on them only. Good Luck.

@@pritech8302 You are kinda right but kinda wrong. About the influence of alcohol and stuff, it particularly depends on the individual. While in scenario of being out of home there is more chances of pertaking such bad habits. But for those who don't want to do such things, they don't. Some of my friends haven't gone out of their hometown for college, yet they drink alcohol at parties, while i just prefer not to. So no, it doesn't depend on if you are at home or outside. Yet the point stands you can do everything you want in your life and be successful even if you choose to stay at home.

You don't have to listen to any xyz chadda who had a laptop in his basement and now claiming himself to be a "startup owner" and running behind money like all those rats do .. I'm 25 now , i left my home when I was 20 , I worked as a chef... For chefs the pay is like shit .. got paid 12k to live in Mumbai and got some pocket money from my parents to survive there, then went to Bangalore and after that went to Hyderabad .. learnt a few languages .. seen a lot and now I'm already fed up with the greedy ass society . Do things your way , stay home if you have to .... One way or the other you gotta leave home sometime and if you don't have to consider yourselves lucky and juz explore whole india and even around the world if could as a part of a vacation . Go live somewhere for a month for a finite amount of money and come back ... This comfort zone bullshit and hustle culture has to go!.

Im 26 and recently started feeling the same like I'm stuck in here with my parent in really bad way, and the things you said are 100% relatable to me, like even when i am the primary earning member of my house (in fact making 10x than my parents making even today and they also agree on this) there is zero value to my decisions and opinions, recently i started blaming them for being overprotective, and bcz of that i missed so many things in my life. For many mistakes to do, my age is gone now, but i really hope to fix my life. I tried moving out recently but they started the emotional drama and all (you know Indian parents) if you are reading my comment please give me a solution i am really stuck with them. (In terms of freedom and personal development)

I loved how you positively presented all the issues that generally suffocate most young adults. I stayed at Uni till 2020 and have been home since then, graduated, and have started working from home. It is very suffocating and I feel like I'm going to get left behind, or am being indirectly restrained from unlocking my full potential. I find it difficult to articulate it in words without offending my parents. This video very beautifully encapsulates what I feel, and what I was confused about and wasn't able to articulate. You have my sub, Varun! Great Stuff!

Not everyone can move out just because they want to, specifically in India when the parents are extremely controlling and dominating for most part of life. If somebody is moving out at 20, for most cases the parents are supporting. Not every family will do that and you may not want to burden them as well. Very few people do part time jobs to earn money in India because the culture is so different. I moved out at 25 when I got my job outside of my hometown. So don't think if you're 27, it's too late for you just because he mentions 18-20 in his videos, that's not practical for most middle class people.

Life of a person depends on various factors its quite complex than just staying away from parents. Either way u stay with parents or without , u will still know the reality of this world after u graduate from ur university. Life is hard. Take independent and wise decisions don't buy into these kind of videos. Everyone has different privilege levels.

This video looks to be focused more towards counting views, poor to no research, no in-depth coverage of the topic and a fact picked from Vedas which is taken without clarifying the full context of time and situation. If his only argument is that staying away from home will make you responsible then his own actions of putting out such garbage content disproves that he is anything but responsible. But sadly he has already misguided the youth, who in their young age of 17 or so are very impressionable. It is pathetic how these people don't think of the consequences such misinformation will create in the society.

agreed, making video and saying move out is easy while in the other hand more than 60% people are middle class and if you are men! you have no option but to take responsibility of your self and your parents as well, not to mention siblings .

If your parents are cool and understand your lifestyle, there is not even need to move out. You get to stay rent free. Utilities cost are shared between family members. You get home cooked meals. No bullshit about flatmates creating nuisance. Limited parties because 18-19 yo kids tend to get along without supervision from parents. You save many expenses. If and only your parents understand and don't get indulged.
