Bought one ( big lane shark), no hose kit for John deere 4720 cab. So made the plumbing, 5/8" hoses, intercepted power beyond circuit, #12 sae/ORB valve, return to case. Flat face disconnects. Just finished, not a pipe thread anywhere, very happy. Went big, need to get all the power I can from 12 gym. #$% John deere uses a M18x1.5 for the sump return on this 55$ for a m18x1.5 by # 10 ORFS elbow!!

It has been a few months since I purchased my Lane Shark 2 . For some of the strangest reasons, along with some quite frustrating reasons, the Lane Shark is still not plumbed. That's right, I spent the $$$ and still have a "brand new" Lane Shark sitting on the front end of my 2004 New Holland TC40DA. The first two reasons it's not working? 1) The first folks who were going to help out had some sort of serious "family" issues come up and could no longer do the work. 2) The shop manager/owner of the hydraulic shop I took it to next passed away and the shop has since closed. I had to literally go and piece the tractor back enough to get it loaded and away from the "being locked down" business. I then inquired at two other hydraulic shops. Both said it would take weeks (or months!) to get to it... IF they could figure out what to do. Neither shop seemed interested in taking on the project, at all. In the interim, there have been numerous other (non-related) delays and side-tracks, such as weather and other obligations. So, I inquired at two New Holland Dealers/repair shops. I was informed that New Holland wouldn't do the work at all. They simply didn't think it was something that should (could?) be installed on my particular tractor; even though I was reassured on three different occasions by Lane Shark folks that my tractor would be just fine with the Lane Shark. I was told that my best bet, if I insist on trying to use the Lane Shark on this tractor, was to purchase an auxiliary hydraulic unit to power the Lane Shark independently. New Holland recommended this for two major reasons: 1) Since everything operates on the hydraulic system on this tractor (to include the hydra-static transmission), a separate hydraulic unit would protect against "starving" other components AND prevent ("the inevitable") overheating of the hydraulic fluid, pump and components. 2) If ("and when") the motor on the Lane Shark fails, being on a separate hydraulic system would keep it from ruining pretty much everything else in the tractor's hydraulic systems. Of course, an auxiliary hydraulic system runs in the thousands of dollars. Not exactly the king of thing I want to hear this deep into this endeavor. Long story short, since I'm already completely over my head into this Lane Shark deal, I am going to have to take the plumbing job on strictly on a DIY basis; even though I know absolutely Jack about hydraulic systems. So, give me the crash course, if you will guys, because I have already lost the summer I needed to clear lanes and property lines over some 150 acres and this show has got to go on.

I've been watching y'all's product for about a year and really like the design and concept. Unfortunately, the price tag is hard for me to justify. A more economical approach for me would be to rent, once a year. I have about 12 acres and would be able to initially address the areas that need a laneshark in probably less than 15 tractor hrs. And then less than 5 hrs from year to year. Have any dealers discussed the idea of renting? I was also thinking that if one was to be rented out it would ideal to have a 3 point hitch reservoir with a PTO driven pump to power the land shark. That way it's universal and it would keep the Landshark fluids isolated from the tractor. I know this is a long comment...but I really do like your product and want to use it.

Yea, that is common for niche items that are mainly sold for commercial use. Already spending $15,000+ on a tractor can be rough! :(

But I still can't find a video of how to hook up my lane shark to my tractor. After a MC crash I'm just getting my lane shark out after having it installed by the dealership. One line will only hook up to one, the other one I have a choice between the black cap and the green cap. I chose the green one, but won't run it until I am sure it is hooked up right. I keep searching for variations of how to hook a Lane Shark up to the tractor. I keep finding third function installation, but not what I'm looking for, it will be an easy answer, either the black cap or the green 🤷🏻‍♂️

Lane Shark, I called several months back regarding purchase of your Lane Shark and you provided guidance as to separate remotes, proper hydraulic plumbing, and prices for your product. I had gotten with my dealer and he really is not too enthused about running the Lane shark off the tractor's hydraulic system and lightly talked my tractor's warranty issues that may put me at risk. Do all of you have a separate hydraulic pump system to run the Lane Shark? In advance, I appreciate your response.

Houndsman One sorry for the delayed response, we do not offer a rear tank, we built one last year and honestly hated fooling with it every time we wanted to use the Lane Shark. We are very adamant about how these units have to be plumbed as we state in the video above. A lot of people like you say running the Lane Shark off the tractor hydraulics will burn it up or ruin your warranty, this is based off a lack of knowledge of the product and that is something that only time can change. We put a lot of information out there regarding the heating issue because so many people bring it up, but we have 2 thousand units in use and over the last 3 years we have had ZERO hydraulic issues. We totally understand that people are leery about new things, but when the Lane Shark is matched to the proper tractor and plumbed correctly, there is no problem. As far as the warranty, that is completely at the dealers discretion, we are in about 160 dealerships, mostly Kubota and John Deere, none of them have any issues with it. We hope this helps clear things up a bit for you! If not, feel free to give us a call.

I am not sure what this video is warning against? You cant use your third function to power the cutter yet that is the exact plumbing you need to power the cutter. I understand there is a special control box that is installed. Are you referring to using other than your control box and if so that would be better if it were clearer information. THanks!

No matter where you get the power (pressure) side from, you have to return to sump to coast down and not stop faster than it should. That causes issues with things breaking or even heating issues is what he was talking about

Does an RK55 tractor hydrostatic transmission tractor with third function have all the hoses up front needed to power Lane Shark? Any additional auxiliary pumps or lines necessary? Thx!

Can the average Joe put the plumbing on? One y connector at the reservoir is really all it needs? Any concern about bleeding out air?
@LaneSharkUSA
@LaneSharkUSA 4 года назад
4nursebee it really depends on the tractor make and model. Some have easily accessible ports to tie in the return and some are just shy of impossible. What is your tractor make and model? When it's all hooked up you just power it and it will bleed the air out of the system when it runs, it's not like having to bleed air out of your brakes since it's a looped system.

4nursebee that's an easy one, the return is under the seat, we can provide you with the house kit for that one and it would take less than an hour and you could be cutting.

@@LaneSharkUSA I just went and looked under tractor, the FEL hoses come in and connect to metal tubing that is not flexible, all goes in near the same point, seems tough.
