@RileyJane2022 I took my 6y/o to journeys kids to get shoes, and she picked out a pair of DCs that even my husbands brother Remembers me having in high school. I've been out of high school for a longgg time
Lmao I have some hot-ass pink knee high Chucks somewhere in the back of my closet. 😂 I got them for a cosplay, and now I can’t wear them cause where tf am I gonna go wearing hot-ass pink Chuck Taylors when I dress casual goth? 😂 The wears-all-black kind. I appreciate the pastel goths and the emos, rock on, but bright colors are painful to me. 😂 If I ever dress in color, it’s gotta be a cool color. But my daughter (6) is a walking rainbow, so maybe I’ll hold onto them and bequeath them to her once her feet grow. I think she might be my shoe size in the end, her feet are quite long for her age (I wear a size 10; long toes).
I literally used to judge how hot a guy was by the skate shoes he wore. The Etnies guys were okay, the DC guys were better, but the Osiris guys were always the hottest 😂 🤷♀️
Concerts are a sad sad loss.. ticket prices are super high and they charge service and delivery fees on top of it. I hate that it's out of reach for most young people.
I wanted a pair of those soooo badly growing up, but we couldn’t afford them, same with converse which I was dying for a pair of when I was 12. There were 23 girls in my class at school and I was the only one without at least 1 pair, on our week long year 7 school camp to Canberra (the capital of Australia which is about 4.5 total hours between the connecting buss rides as well as a 2.5hour flight from my town) I was so upset to be the only girl not wearing Connies all week, but the popular rich girl who I was sharing a dorm with had a different pair for each day. This girl was stunningly beautiful super popular, school captain and super loaded as well, but to boot she was also genuinely super sweet and kind too, so you couldn’t even hate her even if you were jealous of her haha, anyway, she noticed I was the only one without and so she looked at my shoes after I’d taken them off the first night and saw we were the same size and quietly took me aside and said she was happy to share her shoes and let me wear a pair of her converses every day that week. That was 16 years ago now and to this day I can’t tell you just how much it meant or what an impact it had on my self esteem that whole week and for a good while afterwards. I was lucky and my grandparents went in with my mum for Christmas (I think they paid 2/3 and mum paid 1/3) and got me a cool a clue length paint that were pastel blue and yellow with a cool double tongue. I probably still have them somewhere.
I had those!! I begged and begged! We found them on sale long after the “trend” passed, same with the L.A. Gear flares, got a boys pair because that’s what we could afford. My parents always tried, I know we were poor- my dad sold his plasma for hot dogs and Mac and cheese. I appreciate them for doing all they did to make sure I had a well rounded childhood. It wasn’t perfect or great, but neither was anyone else’s. Love my parents & I promised I’d always take care of them, and I’m now old enough to do that.❤
@@dogzentraining for sure! She was well aware she had a lot more than most but never purposely ‘snobby’ or ‘not in touch’ with it (sure there were a couple moments where she just genuinely was unaware about someone’s specific struggle that was not that uncommon to most, but she was always embarrassed she didn’t know and made the effort to educate herself and not repeat the mistake and was always apologetic if she unintentionally upset someone which is 100% fair, we were 9-12 when we went to school together and she was just a kid learning about the world with everyone else and was humble about that fact too). She and her family always tried to share their privilege with the rest of us at school when possible (her parents paid for and the installation of air conditioning throughout the entire school with their tax returns one year. They were really big and fancy split systems too so we even had heating in winter which is very uncommon in Australia, especially in Queensland) and she always had really cool fancy parties every year for her birthday and the whole class was always invited and she would give party bags with CD’s and full bags of lollies and chocolates and stuff, she also would give nice gifts at everyone’s parties. I had a party at the local blue light disco when I was 12 and and since the entry was $5 for each kid and we couldn’t afford that for 40 kids we just asked on the invite to pay their entry instead of a gift as we thought it was a win win as that was the absolute minimum anyone would have spent on a gift (normally we spent about $15-$20 on everyone’s birthday presents) but she turned up with one of those fancy $10 card and a $45 billabong wallet as my present I remember being so happy and thanking her about a million times, it was the first ‘brand name’ anything I ever owned. She really was just a genuinely good person who was well aware of her privilege and did her best do share it with others whenever the opportunity arose. Her whole family is super sweet and the same way, they do a lot of charity work in our town and sponsor a lot of things as well.
Isabel!!!! Happy 13 years sober !!!! Your video motivated me to start my own sober journey. It's time it really is. Congratulations lovely ! And thank you
How are you going attempting to live alcohol-free? I don't drink, so I have some advice, take a small handful of pumpkin seeds every day, and get 20 minutes of sunshine. Take your shoes off and touch the ground for 20 minutes during a time of crisis, that sort of time when whiskey drinkers say, ' I need a drink!' You can stick your head in cold cold water, just for however long you can hold your breath for. That will shock you out of thinking about the, 'crisis'. Now plan your crawl, then steps out of this situation. Eating whole foods and getting enough exercise really does help a lot.
Arch support is actually bad for your feet. The muscles in your feet are supposed to support you, all that extra cushioning is just ensuring they'll stay weak by not needing to do any work.
@@bratatouillewe didn’t evolve to walk on concrete, heel to toe, in stiff modern shoes preventing our feet from bending and flexing as they were designed to. So we need arch support to compensate for the unnatural way we walk. I can walk barefoot just fine on the beach all day, but if I’m wearing shoes with no arch support, my knees hurt so bad.
@@hotjanuary yes, that's why barefoot shoes exist. They're flexible and have enough room for your feet to move as they should. Sadly they can be quite expensive, but imo worth it if you can afford it. As your feet get stronger you also develop better shock absorption, but if walking on hard surfaces is an issue you can put in a pair of soft, flat insoles.
My friend’s first boyfriend was obsessed with Etnies😂. So many skater boys who didn’t skate but hey we live in Orange County and Laguna Beach was big on tv and Stephen Coletti skated so if you were a preteen or teen boy in 2004 you wore Etnies even if you didn’t skate😂
My mom saw them and bought them for me last month as a surprise. I now own a pair again 😂😂 and I tell you what. I have NEVER gotten more compliments on my shoes
They were one of the most uncomfortable shoes ever! I wore them 3 times in 3 years… once a year was enough not wanting them on my feet for another year until was purge time and I tried again. Blisters and pain, super stiff and heavy. I do only groundies or vivo now.
Omg... I distinctly remember the white Etnies with the neon green laces. I was in love and desperately wanted them, even though I knew I had no business owning or caring for white shoes. 😭😭
I begged my mom for some. Finally got a pair and wore them on vacation in Hawaii. Fell out of my kayak and they filled up with water. Have no idea why those shoes were so absorbent but they never got completely dry and I had to throw them away.
Don't mind me as I rush to the nearest shoe store!! I had one pair of those (white and pink with little silver skulls on them) I wore for years. Never knew how to skateboard but wore them all the time in hopes of catching me a skaterboi 😂
I remember when it was popular to put an extra sock folded up under the tongue of your shoes to essentially volumize them/make them bigger(for me it was my etnies). One day I had my extra sock rolled up to to 'puff' the tongue of my shoe up and I was playing basketball with my crush/new boyfriend. I ran up a ramp to jump off and make a hoop, and the sock fell out of my shoe.. I don't think he knew about the trend because he looked at me super awkwardly and said "uhhhhhh your sock fell off". I was so embarrassed. It wasn't my sock falling off. It was the EXTRA sock used for volume in my shoes and it was THE TREND 😭
I had a gray and yellow pair. They were fuckin sweet. Circa 00'. My wide leg jeans, t shirt and etnies. Still know people who wear em. They're out there...
NO WAY. I was just longing for a pair of these a few days ago cuz they were the most comfortable shoes ever and lasted forever! They'll probably charge and arm and a leg for em though 😂
I still have my pair from 2007 that I paid $80 for cuz you was allowed to customize them on their website pink and black and my name stitched into both sides. i really hope they let us customize them again i can't wear mine they are done i wore them almost everyday til 2019 cuz I always would get compliments on them because of my name..
My brother wore these and when he couldn’t find them anymore he wouldn’t wear anything else the souls of the shoe were tapped together because he refused to get new shoes I’m pretty sure my dad threw them out to give him no choice but to get new shoes
Yeah but their quality in 2024 is absolutely garbage. Rock hard and super uncomfortable inside :( just like those people wearing vans just because they're popular but they are not even comfortable or supportive
Unless you have some kind of medical condition, you shouldn't really be wearing supportive shoes. All that's doing is inhibiting the muscles in your feet from moving like they're supposed to, which leads them to weaken, which in turn means your feet will hurt more and your posture will be worse.
@@bratatouillerock hard shoes like that, that are rock hard both on the bottom as well as the entire surrounding structure aren't comfortable for anyone
@@sourgummiez I didn't say anything about rock hard shoes did I. All I said was that supportive shoes often prolong the problem instead of actually treating it. If your shoes are too stiff they obviously won't allow your feet to move in their full range of motion which isn't good either.
