Cool little nook :) Got something similiar going here but with mostly panaqolus which are plecos I can recommend if you still look for options to consider for the empty tank.
@@tropicalfishhub Iv'e bred L397 and L162. Would say they are, relatively, easy to breed yes. Problem after awhile is getting them to stop because they are abit like ancistrus once they get going(had to separate my L397 since I got rather overrun). Positives would be that they are small as you said and very easy to feed(I just feed yams, potatoes, beans etc and something meaty once every other week). Also surprisngly outgoing, I see my L397 way more than any hypancistrus ive had for example. Have L204 aswell but they didn't breed for me yet so maybe they are more fussy or it's cause I only have 3 of them and 5+ of the other two types or they are simply not mature enough trying to work it out.
I bred the L066 (likely the same species as L333) by accident and I think it's really just a matter of maturity before they spawn, sometimes it's a matter of months. A great Hypancistrus to breed and always popular. I've got my L309 I think trapping at the moment, first fish I've bred in a while as most my fish are too young.
Indeed Hypancistrus breeding often comes down to right timing and good luck! I had similar experiences with H.zebra. Good luck with L309, are they from Pier?
