Plein Air Painting: Montana Creek in Summer - Turner Vinson 

Something interesting I just discovered: I normally watch Turner’s painting videos on a 65” tv. I started watching this particular video last night on the big screen but just finished watching it on my iphone 8 where the viewing area (when held vertically) is about 2.5”x 1”, so, tiny. Suddenly, the painting became far more an accurate representation of the scene. If you normally watch painting videos on a huge screen, I suggest you try watching them again on the smallest screen you have. It’s an interesting phenomenon that all painters talk about, “Stand way back and look at your painting from afar…” It’s true.

You forgot to include the garter snake...had that been on my creek here along side my home that snake could have been a garter, but we have too many water moccasins and copperheads in our woods and creek down here in South Alabama, so we must be very cautious here...usually though they are non poisonous varieties. One day my cat followed me to the creek and ran up a tree, shook his head vigorously and followed me back to the house, but fell dead half way to me. I never saw the snake or know when it happened. He was up the tree when he shook his head. Must have been then. All within 3-5 minutes. I think he was struck on the head in the tree. I had to watch him die. It was quick. He might have kept me from the bite. But your paintings are some of my faves from any contemporary American artist( of which I was once a painter), but as my health worsened as I got older I am now mostly confined to watching others create. You have a bold approach and courage to leave your strokes alone a lot of times whereas other times you have a million strokes on top of the first creating great impasto and texture. All of them are amazing and I thank God for your art and your generosity in sharing with us all.❤❤❤your art,your kiddos are beauties.God has blessed you, sir.

Что бы я сделал по-другому: 1) не стал бы показывать, как роняю холст; 2) повернул мольберт так, чтобы меньше вертеть головой. В целом, творчество на любителя. В отличие от художника, делающего акцент на буйстве, хаотичности красок на холсте, мне не хватает реалистичности.

Half expecting to see Mexican Cartel jump out of the bushes because this scene is something I only expect from some bygone era of people taking their family out in nature and creating art. Nobody does this anymore.
