The Knipex TwinGrip 82 01 200 slip joint pliers is amazing. No way around that one. This tool is amazing. The slim profile, the aggressive jaws, the no-pinch design, the five position jaw spread, the box joint design. Everything about this new tool is great.

I'm still on the fence not super excited about these not sure what benefits they really will offer me...looking forward to hearing more on your thoughts I think.i will pass on them for now. Great video doc best one I've saw!!

I think the trick here to reviewing them will be to find what they do that regular slip joints can't. If I do all the usual stuff, the regular slip joint will preform just fine. It's the edges of the use curve I'm interested in. What am I not doing right now because my slip joints don't do it well. I know there are many things, but what are they?

The trick to reviewing tools is to be a worker, that way you actually encounter a use for them.

I feel like knipex is doing so much with rethinking and improving tried and true tools and they also have incredible steel quality, improved grip strength, speed, adjustability and most importantly sleekness. When im in a weird position in a greasy stamping press the difference between channellocks and cobras is getting upset and sweaty vs just getting er done. I'm a zoomer electrician so snap on isn't the gold standard to me, it's brands like knipex and wera that are always improving their designs.

Yep, they're engineering their tools more (material choices, methodical application of mechanical concepts, etc.) while other companies simply 'design' them and have them cheaply produced. You're right about the wishbone design (also present on their Cobras & Pliers Wrench models) - all part of how they get such an even and strong grip.

The nice thing about Knipex is, in my experience anwway, they are never stiff opening and closing. Unlike others cough, cough Snap cough On.

I think one reason why the cobra style pliers work so efficiently is because of the double wishbone frame, if you think about it... it seems to center the force evenly into the center position rather than being cantilevered out to the side like others. It's hard to explain in text, but I think you'll understand it quite easily.

Hi from the UK 🇬🇧 I finally found a tool company with stock of the 82 01 200 twin grip from Knipex and ordered a pair hopefully for delivery tomorrow. I prefer the 82 01 200 over the 82 02 200 because I think the thicker handle covers spoil the slim profile of the pliers. I can't wait to get my hands my 82 01 200. Thanks for sharing 👍

I just picked up the set with the comfort grips... what an excellent set of pliers. Been looking for a nice plier that can grab screws, especially straight on.

If they used the needle nose on the twin grips. That would be the best tool for clamps and grabbing stakon connectors. They have it as the cobras but having it straight to get into tight spaces is huge. Awesome video ty doc

I called my independent dealer yesterday and he said he had one pair. Told him they better be mine lol. They look so useful and I’ve been wanting some screw extractor pliers. I’ve kicked around the Engineer/Vampliers, but when I saw these, I thought, “That’s it.” You’re right about SnapOn, they’ll eventually do something. I like SnapOn a lot, but they take their time to innovate and improve sometimes. They just came out with brushless tools when Milwaukee has had them for years. I’m expecting pocket pry bars from them within a year or so.
@lastbesttool
@lastbesttool 3 года назад
I'm thinking the screw extraction might be the Goldilocks size. I have several Vamplier and move between them. This Knipex size may be the most useful.

@@lastbesttool I was thinking the same thing, they look just right for most applications. My guy should have mine when I get back to work week after next, but I’ll be on the lookout for your review.

Gotta love German engineering. Always been a fan of Knipex. I love that they're improving on the cobra style pliers. I've actually destroyed a pair of channel locks while trying to turn a pipe that a pair of cobras was locked on to... Never buying channel locks again; it literally snapped at the pivot point... channel locks ain't what they used to be.

@madsmix

@@LawAbidingCitizen117 The Cobra is a different tool entirely. It wouldn't be fair to compare them, although there are features such as the screw extraction feature on the TwinGrip that is missing on all Cobras.

Amazon is not the site to go to for authenticity. Most of the sellers are third party, and I don't believe amazon actually checks if stuff is real or not. You're taking as much risk buying from amazon, as you are on ebay at least for collector items like knives and stuff. You're usually fine on cheaper brands, but a lot of the more expensive knives like benchmade/spyderco possibly cold steel can be fake, or they are factory defect knives where the third party dealer buys them off the factory in bulk for a cheaper price, and sells them on amazon for the same price, and a lot of times for a higher price than what they sell them for on "certified"? knife stores. That being said I'm not sure if they do the same for tools, but tools aren't collectors items unless its something like snap-on I haven't had an issue buying tools from amazon. KC tool is another good tool site to get stuff from.
@lastbesttool
@lastbesttool 3 года назад
I knew the risk of counterfeit tools on Amazon, but wasn't quite as worried about that since this plier is so new and the knock-offs usually require the item in the wild so it can be copied. My concern was to be able to return it, and I've never had a problem returning an item for full refund. Knives are a different story. And as a fellow knife guy, I am keenly aware of all the seconds, defectives, and fakes out there. Luckily I am usually able to work directly with the companies to get the genuine articles.

The thought keeps crossing my mind that you buy tools to make a video then ship them back. We have yet to see you actually use a tool. Show us how you use all these items you claim to know how to use. Not hating on you, just show us.
@lastbesttool
@lastbesttool 3 года назад
That's actually a really good idea. But where's the fun in that. I like tools and as a DIYer I use tools all the time, just no for a living anymore. The reason I don't do more fix-it videos, it two fold. First, when I have in the past, the number of views is low. I show off a pair of Knipex TwinGrips and get a thousand views in a day. I do a repair video and get 200 views in a week. The second reason is editing. I release a new video every day. If I had too edit the videos, it would slow to a crawl and likely stop being as fun as it is now. But I do take requests, so if you've got any, let me know. And thanks for watching.
