I'd say they're in the same broad umbrella group, going from prog metal to djent to fusion to funk. Basically music for god tier drummers lol Back when Prog Snob hadn't gone to shit a lot of people would talk about other certain artists a lot, like chon, vulfpeck, snarky, etc. There's a surprising amount of overlap

well ... in the 70s it was quite common to melt ... a lot of things .... King Crimson, Genesis and Rush are still ahead of our time with some songs and their complexity and eclectic style! The electronic and metal genre teared everything apart.... No single band these days comes close to this eclectic epic rock fusion (prog) style of the 70s! The progressive genre these days is split into 3 parts. The pseudo-classic prog ... with mostly guys above the 50s. The modern prog ... which is mostly called instrumental post-rock/math and indie. And the eclectic prog ... where everything is included, even progressive country. Most of the listeners are cat 1 and 2. I guess cat 1 and 2 will never find each other. The only hope is, that cat 2 is becmoing more and more cat 3 .... For that, we would need a mix like Plini meets Amon Tobin, Hanne Hukkelberg, Snarky Puppy, Broken Social Scene, Annuals, Eyvind Kang, Christian McBride, Pat Metheny .... that would be .... lol
