Beefslap Totally agree, I've played with drummers who have followed the clapping of the crowd and by the time we got to the guitar solo we were almost at double speed I'm pretty sure haha
Thanks a lot for posting this video, it's the first Plini live perfomance after all, the video quality is also really good (though the bass distorts the audio a bit but it's still pretty clear and totally listenable, unlike many other live videos captured by the audience).
It's great to see all the little improvised differences, and even the extremely rare and slight mistakes here and there. Proves that Plini is actually a human, not some space robot from the future haha. Thanks for recording this, can't wait to see these guys live!
Anyone know what Plini used for amplification? He normally uses an Axe FX 2 and their are some in the rack behind him, but according to Atomic Amplifire's facebook he was using the Studio Devil Atomic AmpliFire for all of his tones.
I'm glad to see him going out and playing shows. I understand the live playing but the drummer needs more control. Less sloshy. I feel as though he can't hear the rest of the band.
Very very cool! sounded like the guitars needed to be mixed a bit higher though?, drums were overpowering a bit (could be a result the camera mic though).
why is the other guitarist playing all the lines that plini suposodley had played.. the band should be called the other guitarist name.. hes the one killing it...and he probly recorded all the music that we think is plinis.. i dont no it just isnt a good look..
+Brandon Jefferson Part of me is convinced you're trolling? If so, this is surprisingly successful. If you're genuinely asking: When recording the albums, Plini layered the guitar parts. One person could not play all the layers simultaneously, so in a live setting Jake has been recruited. And Jake is playing most of the rhythm guitar parts, which certainly are difficult as well, but leaves Plini to play most of the melodies and lead parts.
Speculating a trolling are two different things... Let's not throw labels...but it was a true statement what I said.. All the dope stuff should b played by him not the riffs...
+Brandon Jefferson Sure, I was just checking if your speculation was a deliberate attempt to misconvey how the album version of the songs translated to a live setting, no problem! I think firstly, a performer with the mindset of "I should play ALL the dope stuff" would be pretty egotistical of a stance, although common for sure! Plenty of Axel Roses in this world. I for one (and what ventor11225 was getting at) am quite happy that Plini doesn't seem to suffer from that sort of complex. Secondly, beyond that as I mentioned before, Plini IS playing MOST of the lead lines, while Jake is playing MOST of the rhythm guitar parts (e.g. - the riffs, or the chordal harmonic layers). When this is NOT the case, it actually makes for some really cool arranging. I'll go through the first couple minutes until the quiet break, how's that? First 10 seconds: Jake and Plini are playing the same thing 10-20 seconds: Plini takes over the lead line on the repeat. 20-35 seconds: This is a great part of the arrangement, Plini and Jake are alternating phrases on who plays this finger-twisting bit. So sure, Plini isn't playing this ENTIRE dope section, but the alternating method is a really cool way to cover the section, each guitarist jumping in and out. 35-1:11 - Plini takes over the lead lines again, continuing through and putting that solo over the return of the first idea. 1:11 - Here Jake does play a cool bit, and sure, Plini could have taken that, but instead he lets Jake do it, that way when the cool bit repeats at 1:20, Jake can just play the same thing again while Plini puts that melody over the top. 1:30 - Here Simon plays a bass solo. I'm assuming you didn't want Plini to grab the bass to take that solo, did you? ;) 1:40 - Here the opening theme returns yet again, which Jake covers the rhythm parts while Plini plays the lead line over it. That'll get you through the first 2 minutes or so. As you can see, Plini frequently is playing the melodic passages, while Jake and frequently playing the rhythm parts.
Dear plini, I love you (no homo, my wife is sitting next to me). Come to America and play Newark, DE. You can sleep in my basement. I have a nice stereo, some drums, and a guitar, and a beagle. Whaddya say?
