i would try that but unfortunetly i have to scrap the board and make a new one with a better protected circuit. my setup randomly blows my mosfets and its getting quite expensive ^^ haha
corbonzo1 yes, 40 fets on the way for soon to come mayhem! have you had issues with fet "A" burning up everytime? rest of the bridge runs cool. its just that one fet every single time. before I added the zener/resistor combo it was annihilating the gate resistor too.
ohhh what about zener plus resistor? i run just zener, and yeah on my full bridge, one side allways blows, two of the four, have no clue why, could it be cuz i dont have a variac? and i just turn it on all the way instantly? thats what i figured the issue was
corbonzo1 Aye tis just a PLL H Bridge now. You'll be able to increase performance even more if you add antiparallel diodes across the DS junctions on the fets. The MUR860 series diodes work very well for this. Also, are you using a DC blocking capacitor on the primary (both of the GDT and the resonator)? It helps greatly to reduce heating and shoot through. Also, I didn't see any gate resistors, if you're using them, what value are you using? They dampen the Q of the tuned circuit formed by the gate capacitance and the GDT inductance. Not using any resistance here allows for tremendous ringing on the fet gates, which causes massive heating. Adding 5 ohms non-inductive in series with the gates solves this.
pretty much everything you mentioned are thing i dint do, so this tesla coil constantly blew my mosfets, so i pre much scrapped it, ill be making a new one soon and ill add in the diode protection
@@corbonzo1 yes one resistor to charge mosfets gate and diode to discharge it creates delay betveen opening diagonal mosfets so just 2 mosfets are on at the same time
