@@hourbreak That's Tim Follin for ya. Basically anything he and his brother Geoff worked on were fucking amazing. Pictionary had a banger OST, Silver Surfer. Hell Tim started his career at like 15 making stuff for the ZX Spectrum for a single audio channel and still managed to make tracks with depth on that. It's crazy.
@@fiftyskoopaklub2982 Maybe because not much space left? I mean, just listen to music in "Plok!" and game doesn't look half bad(I never played the game, I came from gobou's "PNIK!" really). I'm not really a professional when it comes to that things, I'm just making some pity excuses because I have absolutely no problem with the lack of FB track and the track was already lit.
One of the creators of Courage the Cowardly Dog loved this game in the 90s, so it makes sense. Side note: Miyamoto saw this game and was amazed and it is what gave him the idea for the graphics and enemies etc in Yoshi's Island on Snes.
@@nick56677 this reminded me of yoshis island but i didnt know that plok came first? kinda sad that yoshis island became way more popular than plok just because it was a nintendo game
My problem with Plok was that I would keep freaking out at his limbs returning to him, forgetting that they are indeed his limbs and not a projectile or enemy I missed.
@@DerpDerp3001 i would put a time limit after starting the battle and then i would make them use tactics to make Plok Waste Time and then they would escape with the Flag if the Player fell for all those tactics for reasons relating to the Third Brother and Plok's Grandfather
One of the things I like about the bosses in this game is the variety of difficulty. For example, you can inadvertantly make the Penkinos extremely difficult (which I like to do for a challenge when I play) by hitting them all 3 times so that they're all spitting out lines of stars.
No, games like those are nostalgic to me, and I played lots of those flash games in the past and this looks like something I would see in a game like those.
I have to agree here. It's a cool mechanic, having to manipulate a stage elements into weakening the boss in order to deal damage to it. However, there's very little reason as to why the 2nd boss, need to be complicated even further, by having an already multi-bodied boss; one with an sped-up path, barely within reach of aforementioned stage element. It's cool, but that part just seems unnecessary. Even the spider looked annoying, needing a very specific height, on a seemingly randomized path.
@@SQUIDWORD15 Mate, just because *you* find something to be easy, doesn't mean it's supposed to be easy for everyone else. Let alone meaning somebody sucks at a game.
RangrisGaming I just wish that Womack Spider, Rockyfella and Flea Queen were just a little bit more difficult. I do love the whackamole aspect of the Rockyfella battle though, I just wish that the battles had a little more variety, it isn't like the earlier bosses where they can be unpredictable or you can oops and make them hard (All 4 Penkinos after 3 hits) I just hate that by that point the game really makes you earn it and then gives you such easy bosses
Penkinos Tips: If you shoot a limb at the left target almost immediately after the battle starts, you can hit the blue Penkino, allowing an easy first hit. When you knock down a Penkino, when they fly back up, wait until they come back down (run after them.) They'll fly low enough so that you can hit them again. You can even do this a second time, given you have an arm as well as luck and some good timing. As for Cotton, you can literally just spam limbs on the bros and run under them as they jump above you. Just hope the pattern doesn't get screwed up or you'll more than likely take damage. Nothing else for now. When I fight Rockyfella and Flea Queen I'll update... probably.
@@Busshhu Oh heck I forgot about this comment, thank you for reminding me! For Rockyfella, you can proactively fire limbs as Rockyfella's arms are rising out of the ground. With good timing, they'll hit the arms just as they start returning to you. You can do the same as Rockyfella pops out and starts firing out projectiles (just be quick to start getting away)... or you can wait out the pattern, which is slower, but safer. As for Flea Queen, well, uh... it's been a while, I'll need to replay the fight.
@@sleepyfox0316 oh damn, i didn't expect a reply so quickly ^^" i'm not actually a player of Plok, i just saw this video in my recommended and then this comment, and i like replying to old comments lol
This game is so great. The graphics are beautiful, the character is unique, the music is amazing, the gameplay is fun and the difficulty progression is well balanced, the bonus stages are fun. The only fatal flaw is there's no save option whatsoever. Which is crazy for such a long game. So I suggest playing it on emulator.
Damn. This remembers me of the time where i'd borrow games from a videogame store back in the 90's and had to return them a couple of days later. Still have one of 'em because they closed the shop the day after i borrowed it. It's called Terranigma.
Did you know you Penkinus won't reach their full flying height immediately? You can hit them a second time when they are still at their first cycle after taking off again.
what to play when fighting your kid games boss: ❌ A theme that sounds really innocent and still threating enough to make your target audience want to fight the boss ✅ *_"I'm not locked in here with you, you're locked here with me" compressed into sound_*
could you imagine if you took a hit from the last star the last penko dropped before you would have beaten him? would hate to have to slog through that again for this video's sake
i played this when i was like 6-10 it was sooo hard i only made it to grandpas time and after it. but never got to boss 3 :c but fuck wasnt the boss music the best music u ever heard?! oof
Not really at all. There's more than one run n' gun game in existence, you know. That's like saying cuphead is the new megaman because they're in the same genre.
someone gotta make a Terraria mod outta this cause the OST do be sounding like some Terraria shit, and the bosses look like they would be fun to fight in Tmodloader
hey, can someone plz explain to me why the first boss had a black and white version and why was plok wearing a mustash during that version of the fight?
I don’t know if people are just blinded by nostalgia and can’t talk about anything else good about the game other than the soundtrack. Okay, the soundtrack and sound quality have been exceptional and has been praised by Miyamoto himself, and the graphics and art style are amazing but besides that and subpar gameplay, the entire game is a mixed bag. I loved the level design of the first and second third of the game. The last third however, the infuriating flea pit is by far the worst levels I have ever played in any video game. Especially the level where you use the helicopter and the one with the spaceship and the final boss herself, the flea queen. The first two thirds, you are playing Kirby’s dream land, the final third it is Dark Souls’ hard mode, it’s that hard. I can’t think of any kid being able to beat a game this hard. Many times I wanted to break my controller and I almost came close to beating it. And do not even get me started on the lack of a save feature and the weird continue system they put in the game. You have to beat the game in one sitting and you have no other choice. I say, this game is extremely overrated. It’s a 6.5/10 at best. Funfact: Plok is literally the first game I have ever played.
