I'm quite surprised they were allowed to keep the house after their involvement in a terror plot. The Daily Mail of 1605 must have had conniptions!

Might be wrong, but don’t think any of the Throckmorton family itself were among the 13 plotters, and none were directly implicated, so that might be reason. That said, a few of plotters were related to the family (either through marriage or cousins etc).

No mention of The Throckmorton Plot though. A plot to dethrone/murder QE1 and install Mary, Queen of Scots to the throne with help from the Spanish. A definite connection with the house.
