Then only a short time later running over a busted battery charger with the excavator, can’t say I would’ve done any different. That was awesome lol 😆😆
Amen! He gets so much crap from other excavation channels for the equipment he buys, repairs and uses. What they don't take into account is the fact that while they're complaining that they hit a rock while digging in sand and clay, all Andrew DOES is dig in ROCK and he does it just as well! If it ain't broke, don't fix it but, if it IS broke, fix it to make it functional and get the job done! I think we can ALL take a page out of his book and learn to do things for ourselves! Great comment, Brad!
@@AndrewCamarata I get it . I’d be worried about Cody around any debris like that . Dad always was a stickler for hoovering up whilst he was fixing things as he had a four legged shadow .
@@AndrewCamarata i love the environment and heavy machinery so it really does make me happy to see you clean up all the mess you make while others just leave it there
Cutting up those excavator tracks with a grinder… micro pollution is an inevitability in construction - every time I see a sheet of solid insulation going through the table saw it makes me wonder how many million particles that one cut creates
@@0xsergy I remember when "I won't use this for plowing" and "You don't need a diesel". Lol, people can change their minds. He is good at staying busy and tearing up trucks.
I mean he literally drove his last truck till it wouldn’t move under its power anymore and was gonna replace the motor until he got this one. So I mean the man likes to get his money’s worth out of his trucks
For a long time now by far my favorite channel on RU-vid. Each upload makes me happy and I can't wait for the next. I'm proud that I joined in with a different account back then when Andrew was well under 20,000 subs. What a gem of a channel and actually a guy.
"Andrew adventures" or "how to fix everything" that is how i call all his super-entertaining showing clips.. here i taught he will get rid of that old Dodge rusty pickup and get a bigger snow-plow for the military truck.. but boy he deserves all credits for it's style of fixing things and he gain us all along the way.. !!! BTW.. i'm watching from Europe ! ;0)
The AC seal of durability for a rough N ready work truck. As much as Fabrat & MORR put together vehicles seems if a kickstarter or a vc fan could assemble the components & let AC design & build. 22nd century could see a functional practical truck.
@@YotaakGFX Oh man, I totally forgot he put down a deposit on one of those. I actually would love to see AC test the durability claims, would be incredible either way. 😂
Andrew you're an inspiration to someone like myself (23yr old male) who didnt have a dad growing up, ive learned so much from you!! Thank you again for all the videos
Hello from San Bernardino, CA I'm telling everyone about your videos ,, this is the kind of stuff we used to try to do 30 or 40 years ago but we could never get to this point like you have ,, you are truly something else. From one person in Southern California 🙏✌️
People need to understand when you stumble onto these videos you get hooked Big Time hooked if you like this kind of stuff you can't get enough of it like me I just retired from work 2 months ago and watching these videos it's just so refreshing after years of working these videos are truly saving my life along with others. You have so many videos I think I've watched them all with the exception of a couple of but I'll go back and rewatch him again over and over they're that good I just have them on constantly at home I watched all your videos Andrew I don't think I've missed many but for the most part you have a lot a lot of videos they're all fantastic keep up the good work you're saving a lot of people's lives whether you know it or not including mine saving people's lives is important that's why you are the person you are you're honest you're integrity uniformity and your respect I love the way you carry yourself your videos are great. You are a Great Person Andrew. A lot of people probably say this they wish they could meet you cuz you're a great person and you're a big celebrity!!
A significant part of this is to have the ability to just be yourself knowing a million people are watching you ! Camarata seems to do this effortlessly! Your work is a great show Andrew !
Love the shots of the Alternator repair/replacment. I can't count how many of those suckers I've changed in my lifetime (79 now) but it was nice to see that the same problems I had, were universal ha ha.And that I wasn't the only one. Love that double headed rachet. you have Andrew well worth it's weight in gold I'm sure. like a million other viewers love your concept on how to get things done. we all have a little bit of Andrew in our blood! thanks for another great video and you made this old man's day. ECF
@@AndrewCamarata Those transfer cases are super easy to rebuild bro.. There are plenty of videos about it too. Your detents went bad, that's why it popped out of gear. Your shift forks have little plastic 'wear pads on the ends.. and you must have worn them completely down by holding them with the rope. Easy parts to change and rebuild.
@@AndrewCamarata On the smart charger I had--- it just had a little relay on the incoming lines and would shut off whenever it wanted... so I just lopped around and bypassed that relay so it would always stay on... It's a nice little machine now-- fairly strong. If it burns up, it burns up.
@@calholli I was maybe going to try it, one thing that deterred me was that transfer case was recently rebuilt, so maybe something else was bad, and I didn’t want to do all the labor and have it not work.
Andrew you are killing me! As a former mechanic I see how a vast majority of the stuff you do could be prevented by doing some "preventative maintenance". If it rattles tighten it up, if it squeaks put some Luby Doobie on it. You do great work on repairing old equipment and making emergency repairs. But like when those pins were giving you trouble, lube them up so they will slide back into place easier. I know you can't use grease on everything because of dust and grit but some silicone spray would help. Next time you change an alternator remove the air box, only takes a couple mins. and you have a lot more room to work with.
Mr. Classic I've been watching Andrew for many years. I love to see the way he does his construction work and his repairs . But have never been a fan of jumping cars or crashing things running jeeps into trucks, it is just making a mess and it does nothing for me. If you like it, good for you . I've worked far to hard in my life time to get everything I own, and had to do without lots of time. I enjoy watching him figure out how to build something he needs to do a certain job or the building of his home and I'm sure there will be more I enjoy, But I'm not sure that you can understand that other people can have different ideas on things than you do.
As much truth and realism there is in the way AC works on and fixes things, i just have to assume some of his ways are also done to provide the type of content he does. I mean, do you think he would have used the chainsaw to install a radio in his truck if he wasnt filming for youtube? OK, maybe he would!! LOL
I hella respect that Andrew refuses to litter even on his own property. He’s got that shark out even though most people (including me) would probably just leave those shavings out. Mad respect man!
Andrew has the most amazing place ever, I love everything he’s built on his property! The castle build was totally amazing and incredible, and self built! I don’t think there anything andrew can’t do or fix! You’re an amazing person my friend and thanks so much for sharing your adventures in your everyday life! 👌🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻
The edits of the vlog can be as time consuming as filming it. That drone shot of the truck plowing through the woods was awesome. The genius is not just the welding & repairs..
Bumper repair.....NAILED IT!!! Factory spec!!! Did not know that chargers make good traction devices in the snow or mud!! Sweet!! Man that is some tight camera work!!!
First time watcher…..good thing you’re good at fixing stuff. Because you’re hard on your equipment. 👍 I use the largest can of WD40 i can find and spray everything on the plow with it. Helps keep everything from rusting so much and parts from seizing. I do it all season and heavy before i put it away. I even coat the mold board. It helps snow from sticking. A couple cans a season is cheaper than western parts.
3:00 best battery charger I ever had was an old one my dad bought from sears back in the 80s, it was one of the small tin box chargers with no electronics/displays on it, just a switch that had like 3 positions- off, 12v charge/6volt boost, 12vboost/6 volt charge. Still works to this day. As long as it continues to work, may as well use it.
The new "intelligent" chargers out there are a mostly joke unless you can find a good one. Yeah, they can probably can do desulfurization, but give me something with a hefty transformer in it for jump/boost starting.
I’ve had I don’t know how many new battery chargers and they all last about a year of non commercial use. So I went bought a old snap on from the 90s and it still working to this day. I can’t charge AGM batteries with the snap on but I don’t have anything that runs them.
I'm so fascinated that you are so handy with everything, there is seem nothing that you can't fix. I wish I was that skilled with tools and had knowledge of how things work. I work in front of a computer and have zero abilities with real world things. Will start slowly getting my own tools and learn how to fix things.
It looks like he was using PEX or crosslink polyethylene tubing. PEX is very strong as long as it is not exposed to UV light (e.g. sunlight). UV makes it brittle. Just cover the tube with some red duck tape. A spring joint a the base is a great idea too.
when you busted out the old school dust buster i almost died. lol but i can appreciate not leaving plastic all over the ground. Good work Andrew! Love the videos
Love when you crushed that "smart" charger. I went through the same issue recently, when your battery is actually dead the smart chargers are useless, which usually is the only reason you would be using the charger. All of the stupid safety features make them unusable. Definitely worth hanging on to any old chargers you find that just put out power regardless of the circumstances.
Lead batteries can't be charged under a certain voltage due to toxic fumes and fire danger, also an undervoltage lead battery won't recovery at all. The "stupid safety features" are there for a pretty valid reason, it's just the stupid people not knowing how things work.
@@gabriele476 I've used the recondition feature on a $40 "smart" charger to bring back batteries that are at 1 to 3 volts and they work good as new with slightly reduced capacity.
@@SamCyanide battery desulfurization are another thing, if you don't do that you shouldn't charge that and it's right for the charger to stop the charge, at least in a closed space. Ps professional and certified desulfator aren't cheap.
Hope this can help anyone who may be thinking about track-crushing their new charger; clamp a good battery to the dead battery with the charger connected also. This provides the current required to start charging.
The first 30 seconds of the best video you’ve made in a year I love bodywork with Andrew videos❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ My five-year-old grandson is going to wet his drawers watching this one great video🇺🇸🇺🇸
Andrew, 2 tips when working on the dodge: 1. If you need to work on anything that side of the engine, remove the airbox (1 nut, a hose clamp, and the IAT sensor connector is all you need to remove and takes about 30 sec total) This will give you enough room to wiggle the alternator (mine was very tight fit too). 2. If you take a S hook and bend one side 90 deg. you can use it and an extra ratchet to hold the belt tensioner by cliping the ratchet to the lower passenger fan schroud support)
Those Western plows are strong! Here in California DOT Maintenance keeps them on their trucks year round to clear snow, rock slides and smooth gravel shoulders.
The bushes in the Alternator leg are a press fit, just hit them with a hammer to open the space up for easy fitting, then it snugs up when the mount bolt is tightened. You don't need to grind them.
I have been watching your videos for years andrew and i get excited and specifically make time in my day to watch your videos no matter the length. Keep up the great work!
What I admire most about you Andrew is you get it done! Man don’t let nothing get in his way. Very powerful message to spread. Please keep it up. I enjoy everything about these videos.
I bought online from "Tom's river transmission" good warranty, good price and excellent product. Years ago, I Had a 95 ram 2500 that ate trannys until I put one of his in my truck. Told him I plowed and hauled, he said, don't care, warranty is a warranty, you won't break my tyranny.
Andrew saying they should warranty a thin sheet metal parking brake joint on a 20 year old truck from new York had me rolling 😂 lucky the damn cab ain't fell of it how much it gets used.
Hey Love the vids, very informative! One tip about dielectric grease is that its not actually conductive and shouldn't be used inside electrical connectors, although it wont do much harm. works great for keeping water out! Let me know if you know otherwise. Keep up the good vids!
Snow plowing would be how I first found Andrew. I had thought about going into that business and watched all the fancy guys and their fancy snow plows going down nice city roads. Then I find this guy flying down dirt roads in beat up truck moving like 2 feet of snow crashing into sticks and stuff with ease. I was hooked not into the plowing but the guy doing his job with no fear.
Once again you do what everyone else talks about. Some years ago I decided to treat myself with a new battery charger since the old ones cables were all messed up and had already been fixed and shortened too often. A name brand, for us Germans THE brand, a Bosch charger found it's way to my shop. Ever since I carry a small motorcycle battery and some jumper cables around with it, so I can trick it into starting to charge with the small battery attached and taking it off once it's going. Otherwise it would recognize an empty 12V battery as a good 6V battery and do nothing. My charger is so smart now, it enslaved me with my backup battery tied to my neck with jumper cables. Can I borrow that excavator real quick?
I love your body work! Especially that polished bucket. Fine hammer blows. No chance of leaving scratches on the bumper! I always believed this about trucks and cars. Once they leave the showroom - it is NOT an investment. IT is a liability - with costs we have no idea of - except when we do our own work! EDIT - ok - Sears is dead - so the charger new it was time to die! EDIT2 - Dashs - fabric store - Fun Fur! Black does not clash - and never needs vacuuming. It looks fine once the Dandelion fur comes out for the year.
30:13 The part you were grinding on is actually a slide nut. Instead of grinding it just thread the bolt in and hit bolt with hammer. It pushes the nut back to gain clearance to get alternator slid in.
yup, first thing you do when installing an alternator. ive seen guys fighting for 30 mins to get the alternator on the bracket when all it takes is two punches on the slide nuts.
I was about to leave the house to do my errands but I saw my reminder 🔔. I said the errands can wait I'm watching Andrew's video first. Aloha Andrew from the Big Island 🤙🏼
Haha, another classic! You should have a road show, showing some of your alternative ways of fixing things. :) The smart charger didn't Die that Hard btw.
Awesome content! Been a subscriber for years and a Western New Yorker, so I commonly have the same problems. When sourcing parts, do you go straight to the internet or do you like to find a dealer/ parts place first? Or both and reference each other to see the cost/shipping/ and convenience fee? Don't stop what you're doing! 👊
@@AndrewCamarata sorry, I should have been more specific... just parts in general. Obviously its going to depend on the part, but you deal with alot of parts from many different types of equipment so generally I assume you source from the internet and go from there. Didn't mean to make the question sound difficult
Andrew Caramata, the guy that does bodywork with an excavator and skid steer, installs a car radio with a chainsaw, that fixes stuff everybody would be discouraged to even attempt or think it's impossible to do, Andrew is an unstoppable force to be reckoned with NO fear!!!
Andrew: 22:08 - fixes the parking brake Also Andrew: 34:11 - doesn't use the parking brake. Alternate Timeline Andrew: "The truck just fell down the hill for no reason."
Andrew, you are a crack up and you are always doing something that makes people laugh. You seem to never have a problem that you can't find some way to fix and get it back in service. Love all your videos.
I really do respect your grind, a lot of other channels would have made a 4 part series of installing them new lights, you literally took a few seconds of video :P
Hey Andrew I just wanna say I've been watching your videos from the start and you have always been a inspiration to me to start my own excavation business, so thanks for the amazing content you put out there. Cheers from Australia mate.
Grinding down an adjustable bushing to make it fit when it can be moved with a few taps of a hammer, hahaha classic. One of the many reasons I watch your videos!
A small hint for you. Noticed snow is not rolling off your plow. Quick shot of cooking spray (ie PAM) before you start and it really helps to make the snow roll. I always carry a couple cans with me in the plow truck.
Andrew spray your Mouldboards with a can of fluid film especially the backside and soak the chain and pistons with it. They make it in a one gallon can with a $99 spray gun for all your equipment. I have a vacation home in southern Vermont I spray all my toys each season.
While I can appriciate the can do it attitude when it comes to fixing up junk which I have done for the last 15 years... There is something to be said about paying the premium so you don't have to F around with junk and I'm loving it.
