In today’s video, we are plowing a couple residential driveways on a 13 inch event we had in January. Thanks to iron valley equipment for taking care of us on all our sno power needs.
@@GarrettWilliams2017 problem with you tube there’s always someone that’s never done it that’s a expert. I’ve watched some of Stanley’s videos of your business and congratulations on how well you’re doing. I never could have done it but was good at what I did so I stuck with it and it paid off with a good pension.
yes it does, it just doesn't mean your worth your salt. ["Owning a handgun doesn't make you armed any more than owning a guitar makes you a musician." USMC Col. Jeff Cooper]
I guess this is a regional thing.. in Montreal where we get a lot of snow nobody uses plows on pickup trucks for residential driveways. They all use snowblowers mounted on Agricultural tractors, makes work easier especially as the season advances the blower allow the operator to spread the snow over a large area, avoiding massive piles of snow next to the driveway, to each his own, cheers 😊
The smarter ones use inverted snowblower on said agricultural tractors. Even for this driveway, pushing that 4' bank of snow from the end of the drive up onto the customers lawn isn't the best thing to do.
most everybody in minnesota has a snow blower. alot of minneapolis people moving out to BFE just don't know anything. the guy staked his drive way and having seen that i can guarantee it's all the home owners fault who just doesn't understand. that's why you charge a home owner like that $500 per event for that drive way because every snow fall it's going to be a head ache after the first time the snow gets over knee high. they aren't worth your time except at that price point. my lawn deere could have handled all that in 30-35 minutes depending upon which way the wind was blowing.
Nice video. I’ve been intrigued by those plows and this confirmed my thoughts. Excellent plow for assisting a loader in big lots where you plow small amounts of snow, but not great for large snowfalls and residential applications. I’ll take our tall winged fishers for those
The perfect tool for that long driveway at 2:38 would have been a 6WD motor grader with a folding v-plow or one-way plow and a wing. One can dream, right. Haha! On a serious note, if its feasible it might be well worth the time to build a few snow fences out of snow on the upwind side of that driveway. I can't tell for sure from the video, but you may have already built a snow fence or you've just simply pushed the windrow back to make more room. Obviously, there's a lot I don't know and there a good chance you've though of doing such, but I thought I would voice my idea. Never know......
8' meyer pick up truck plow at 20+mph no problems. i know that drive way, there's a line of 20 year old pine along it on a large portion, that plow he has is just to short, it should be up to the hood of the truck to be effective for winrowing.
Oh man that brought back nightmares like PTSD of my snow removal days after blizzards. Plowing 30" of snow with pick up trucks is no fun. We used Bobcats, trucks, snow blowers and snow shovels and didn't sleep for days.
Seems like a v plow would be more beneficial especially for stacking the snow. Wouldn’t mind trying one of these plows if I ever had the chance but for now I’ll stick with my fisher v plows! Thanks for sharing!
I love plowing big dways! I cheat a little bit with the skidsteer. I live in a coastal community and the houses are pushed close to the street but have turnarounds and horseshoe dways. Truck prices are outta control dude. It’s fine for writeoffs but those month to month payments with the another criminal(ins companies)are too much for this one man band! So I just throw the wrench on the 20yr old 550 once a year for $2k
Loving the videos that’s a lot of snow haven’t gotta much at all yet I’m in Rochester New York was also wondering if this is your business you guys do a great job and look well establish
@@GarrettWilliams2017 Okay that’s awesome man good for you guys I love watching the videos and the work 👍🏽💪🏽 and I started in 21 trying to grow and get wherever I can be
About 10 years ago I used to do a lot of commercial parking lots and some residential. So many people today doing snow plowing that it's driven the going rates down so low that it doesn't make it worth it anymore. We have a contractor doing a clinic parking lot in my area with approximately 100 car parking slots and he's doing it for $15.00 per plowing. You see all these guys constantly going out of business because they never charged enough but yet there's always somebody right behind them to take place and charged Pennies on a dollar.
When there's that much snow back dragging isn't an option and you have to do the crab push up the driveway. I honestly think I'd put a blower attatchment on a loader and just blow them out when it's this bad if I had the option.
@@GarrettWilliams2017 i suppose you could rent the blower and put a truck on the lot in place of the loader. Dunno. I'm not involved so don't know your exact situation obviously.
@@TT-ik3kd a couple hundred to rent an attachment is nothing. It's about being able to disperse the snow and avoid huge snow piles that create problems on subsequent snows while making it easier at the same time.
I do my own driveway now, but around here they would never allow feet of snow to accumulate and charge once. It was 50 per plowing and they would come by every six inches or so. So for 18” of snow, the guy would be by three times for $150. Kept us able to get in and out during the storm. Not sure if that’s a thing anywhere else
too many customers, not enough time and an economy where people are too cheap. the big horse trailer tells me the owner has a 1 ton dually 3500 himself, no idea why he doesn't have his own plow.
I love these videos but I have a question, at the beginning of this video, why did you push all that snow closer to the garage doors before back dragging?
that truck $65k starting with just the base factory model, all the dealers are price gouging since the early 90's, that's just how far they have worked it up. 2019 they were trying to make the price 95K, then covid hit XD
omg you got $100 for these? that storm wasn't even that bad, i think i was done with my own drive way which is about 1/8th of yours in 12minutes and i have a circle infront of the garage.
Seems like those wings didn't hold shape well against the heavy snow. Have you guys noticed that's been a problem? I'm assuming that's adjustable too, but just curious. Good stuff!
Of course they don’t. Too much leverage. If you need a plow that big to be efficient you have the wrong tool for the job. Use tractors and inverter blowers for residential and pushers for commercial with trucks doing nothing other than detailing and windrowing for the pushers.
@@aprilgeneric8027 how are we supposed to find what you're talking about? How about link something or be more specific than just saying "Look what ford ceo said this week!" Well......What did he say???
Friend of mine plow snow in Michigan and he told me that he just got out of it because there is too many people running around plowing for 10 and 15.00 dollars. I have a friend that works at a clinic and she told me they have a parking lot that's just over 100 slots and the guy is doing it for $15.00 per plowing. These people blow my mind that work for so damn cheap because they're not really making any profit
@@Grasshopper80s4ever yeah I charge $120 an hour usually with a half hour minimum and I do snow removal with my skid steer and that thing isn't cheap to own. Unfortunately us snow removal guys are really at the mercy of what other people decide to charge. Luckily I live in ND where the cost of living is pretty low
Not the approach I would have taken to clear a residential driveway. The idea is the take snow away from the house…. The F12 is for big lots, not really for roadway. But some people learn from experience rather than study.
I know a guy that's plowing 100 plus parking spot parking lot for only $15.00 per plow. Too many people very desperate for money and they're willing to work for next to nothing. I have a friend of mine that is an accountant and he said the cheapest states to hire services are always going to be the Democratic states.
@@Grasshopper80s4ever that’s pretty sad I don’t know how those numbers work out for him. Does he not track his gas $$$, expenses, TIME!!? lol unless they are all side by side and can do it in an hour… haha
around here that's snowmobiling goodness...any one who gets angry about snow in a yard better stay the hell away from minneSNOWtah cuz the city, the county and the state plow drivers will bury you, and that's before you complain.
he lives in the area, city water, all gas has to be attached to the house, can't be in the yard. my brother lives no far from this subdivision neighborhood. he's seen most of these houses being built when he was growing up as a kid.
the battery is pretty good at keeping tire to ground contact. i've used a siding pallet on an electric sit down forklift with out door tires and pushed 16' at a time pretty well with it. cleared a whole yard for ABC supply. that's bigger than most peoples yards by 2X
Small driveways isn’t what it’s designed for but it gets the job done. The plow every Tom dick and harry has the V plow wasn’t built for small driveways either
