I am an old timer and retired from the Air Force as an aircraft mechanic. I always loved getting farm/country boys under my command cause them boys could figure anything out and create anything you could imagine. You remind me of them boys!

Yeah I got a hold of some of those off brand wedge bolts once and they would break off at nothing. The first tractor I ever drove and used was Grandpa's 1955 Cub. Those little tractors did everything for their size.

You can save cost on the squarenuts by making your own just get you a good quality tap and die set I'm sure Tractor Supply or Harbor Freight! That's what my grandfather used to do on his farm. You just probably have to go to a medal Supply or if you have some metal on your property that is the same gauge you can make your own squarenuts

Tractor looks great. I have bad tires on my 57 Massey Ferguson 35. But the cost and not even sure how hard to find them. I am holding on to the old ones as long as I can. New tires looks great.

I'm loving the Cub videos Danny. As I've told you before I spent a lot of seat time one as a young boy mowing and plowing tobacco, gardens and soybeans. We used it a lot pulling tobacco trailers through the fields. They are very versatile little tractor. Thanks for sharing.

I just realized that I've been watching Deep South Homestead since you did the first videos about smoking bacon and your Christmas holidays video. Since then we've both gotten gray and I'm confined to a wheelchair ... bummer ... but I use it as a tool so I can still do most of the things I used to. You and Wanda have taught me so much! I have a 89 Kubota L2050 with a 50 inch Kuhn tiller behind it . There’s a strip beside the woods that I till regularly.... my stress reliever.... it works. Enjoy Danny.🙏

I love those cubs. I have a 49 and I am slowly restoring it. I still work it every chance I can. Keep running that tire. They seem to dry rot before there worn out Very easy tractors to work on. Good job on that tractor.

my rim rusted out around valve stem,i took it to a local machine shop they repaired it like new for $100 .well worth it,p.s. i have a super a complete with all attachments.chinese aftermarket parts are junk

I’ve recently experienced Chinese junk auto parts and small engine parts. Amazon Advertising said direct replacement but nope, and the carburetor parts were different than the original and would not interchangeable.

My dad who passed in 2013 at 89 always had a cub. We had 40 acres of produce and he and his dad had a second farm near Yazoo City MS! The two of them owned a really neat open air produce market in Bettendorf Iowa for over 50 years. My dad had two of those little mighty Cubs, and my father in law worked for Farmall in Moline Illinois for 40 years!

Beautiful old Cub. I started out with a IH Super C to pull logs on my property. I would even use it to pull trailers loads of cedar to a saw mill 3 miles away. Didnt have a truck at the time. He gave me a pretty good price on it. Made enough to buy my double wide on the property. Once I got my Ford 601 that machine went to the side. Still got it. I pull my grain wagon with it and pull my log trailer when I do a logging job.

I bought 1955 farmall cub and bought plow with cuilvator seat mount exhaust pipe and gas cap air breather cap takeing me 4 months. Working progress have wire head lights choke amp guage hook battery up got it prime put hole in top exhaust then put gas tank out anti freeze paint put new decal

Hey Danny, That’s a fine cub you have. You might try carriage bolts on those new rear rims. You probably already know but Burch Store Tractors has parts for a cub. Enjoyed.

I tried the carriage bolts the hole in the rim is to large for the hole in the wheel plate. I've become really good friends with Mr Brandon from Burch tractor. Lots of the thing's I order comes from Burch , Stiener, or DuFour tractor.

I'm a big farmall cub fan. I'm working on one right now trying to fix all the mess ups people try to do to them. My cub is manual lift. I think i'm going to put hydraulics on it. I really enjoy watching you work with and on your cub. God bless you

Love the tractor. Our big farmers in my area are experiencing problems with their new green tractors. I think we know what that's all about. They have found ways to get around most of the problems but the biggest problem will never get solved.

They are forecast a very bad year with drought conditions over most of the South n if we have water shortages I pray ppl have ponds or something on their land .

yes - with all the supply issues - I changed a full set of tyres (still had tread but signs of cracking)brake pads and shoes - rear differential etc - other vehicles I did same, extra light bulbs, extra wipers etc - Just in case.....

My Dad rebuilt a cub and a Bradley walk behind tractor that was his birth year. Some people do cars, Daddy did tractors lol He has a mahindra but we use the cub and Bradley for cultivating and the cub for fertilizing. My dad made a homemade contraption to fertilize with it. I think the cub has the planting plates, too. I can't start the Bradley with the crank but my son and hubby can.

Can tell you have not culvate much with a tractor when we did it we look right down at the row that way you do not plow up your crop you need to sit your back plows lower so they can plow out your tire tracks

I think you can still get those bushings made out of metal off eBay. Barnyard makes them off Farmall cub forum.. he makes a few different parts for these.

Danny, we used to have 2 of these guys... plowed our tobacco with both of them...I sure miss those days.. what’s your thoughts on a tractor of today since we can’t really got those beauties anymore? We. Need one for just cultivating our garden now..

Ignorant question. Have y’all ever tried any experiments with amaranth, chia, or quinoa? I understand that they are high density nutrition in both the edible and the yield per square foot determinations.

@@DeepSouthHomestead I can understand that! Critters invariably head for the best nutrition they can get. Their taste buds haven’t been ruinated by the Standard American Diet. I have read that varmints prefer open pollinated plants over hybrids, and cannot be enticed into ingesting any GMO plants.

Love your videos! I have a 1974 Farmall 140 and I use it every season to mow about 5 acres a month with a Woods M5 Dixie Cutter mower behind it. Recently, after putting some gas in (Exxon Regular, $3.94 a gallon in Southern VA) it would stop running after about a minute and not start again after awhile. It did this for a couple days and there was good fuel flow from tank to sediment bowl and down to carburetor and then it finally started running fine again. Not sure why or if ethanol in gas etc and if I should use an additive like Sta-Bil etc to keep it running good.

Yes we have a video showing how we make it. We stopped making it right now. We have things bought up to make more. We have bought up enough on sale to last us for over a year. We also know how to make it from scratch.

Ok I will look that up. Thank u all for everything u do. I am very allergic to certain laundry detergent and was worrying about this. I will look it up and try to do it and if u want, let you know how it turns out. I also came up with a name for my little spot of earth and have been thinking about starting making videos documenting my journey. Even if I don’t put them on here I’ll have it. Hey Danny have you tried Steven's Tractor in North Louisiana he has a good assortment of stuff for older models.. my grandfather had a Super A, I've spent many hours in the seat, our neighbor had the Farmall A. They use it to farm about forty acres of sweet potatoes, I've had a sore butt from that one too😂. They are some workhorses. I'm 58 now, those were the good old days. ✌

Do you park your Cub on a concrete pad and set the equipment up so it’s even? Kinda the same as setup the mower deck on a riding mower.

Good job plowing the corn! I can't wait till you lay it by, my dad used to say, "lay the ears back and let her plow!" I'm just curious, do you think a lot of rain can weaken the fertilize in the soil, I've noticed that in my garden in years past.

It does break it down faster. But if the pH is right it will utilize it fast.
