Hi John, First of all thanks for the great videos you have shared with us on the Android HUs. I've not seen specs such as the D/A converter, output frequency, preout level, and impedence which are not listed on these Android HU online. You compared sound quality with your stock head unit. I do wonder how does it compare to the high end Kenwood, Pioneer, and Alpine? I really like the android features on these HUs, just couldn't make any decision to install one on my current sound system.

Awesome video! You convinced me to get the unit! I have a Harmon Kardon 2018 Forester Limited and seem to be having a static/grounding issue through the upper speakers in the front and upper speakers in the back. Do you know if there's a way to ground the unit? I tried tweaking a lot of settings on the unit itself - but nothing worked, the hiss is still the same and the same volume. I'd be grateful for any suggestions. Thanks!

Hey John, just installed my Idoing in a 2016 wrx but I am having a bit of fitment issues. Seems to push from the middle, but I dont see any cables in the way. I can put the top part in but the bottom comes out or i can put the top in but the bottom comes out. Have you had any issues when putting the headunit in. Thanks in advance.

I have the atoto a6 in my car and this head unit in my girls car. I like the atoto a6 better because it uses a special Bluetooth compression that makes it equal to cd quality. But other than that this is also a good head unit

hey bro, this unit came with everything for the reverse camera. I was surprised. This iDoing brand got it right with that. Which is usually the most pita part to install. (its not bad though) Reverse camera is plug and play

make sure the 28 pin cable is connected and seated. after that my only advice is actually start your car. Then try to map your button and dont forget to save!

Got this one and it rocks!! Did you have a hard time snapping in the plastic faceplate? Mine stays but there is a slight gap up top where the vents are. The vents are in just fine though.

smartcocker I'm going with the alpine mrv v500 5 channel Amp. Check out this link for the schematics forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2815650 He has all the wiring diagrams. I'm going to be taking lots of pics and posted it on nasioc to help others who want to do this. So basically, I have the amp, 2 High Pass filters for the tweeters and two adapters Metra 71-1761 and 71-7992. These two adapters allow you to tap into the stock HK amp to get the speaker outputs. The HK amp has 3 connecters. You'll have to pull two of them and insert these two Metra adapters. Then run the speaker wires from the Metra adapters back to the aftermarket amp. The android unit has all the other wiring and adapters included except for the usb adapter. Hope that paints a better picture.

Of course they sent me the unit and forgot to include the antenna adapter. Hahaha. I did have an issue with the harness for the camera. It was loose and didn't click into place. I had to push it in and tape it down for the back up camera to work. I'm asking them to send me a new harness and antenna adapter. So far so good. I have yet to hook up the alpine amp. That will most likely get done this weekend. For those worried about the telematics unit and the sos light coming on. I unscrewed the unit, plug in all the harness and shove it down as far as I could.

John Nguyen I have sound working with an aftermarket amp. It's quite a bit of work but it's not too hard. Running the speaker wires and amp power were the hardest part. Basically the back of the stock amp has 3 harness. Disconnect all 3. Only 2 are used to tap into the speaker wires coming from the new amp. You'll need the Metra 70-1761 and 70-7992 to connect to the harness from the amp. This link is what I used to get the wire schematics from the stock amp harness forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2815650 I shoved the telematics unit behind the dash with it plugged back in so I don't get the sos light.

I DID NOT put back the 2 side 10 mil bolts (PITA) the HU stays pt fine without them. Much easier.

Hey thanks for the vid bro. Just wondering how you wired up the blue/purple cable coming off the radio antenna adapter? Did you solder/t tap it? And what wire did you tap it into? I assume that cable is for extra power?

exactly, i just t tapped it. Just twist tie initially, it should work. The great thing is main power harness has something called radio ant label. Just connect that with the blue antenna wire that i linked

I have one of these for sale if anyone is interested. I stopped install cuz it's missing 2 little screws that hold on the hazard/menu selector switch. I then decided to go a different route with my stereo setup. Has all the harnesses and everything worked when I plugged it in and tested.

I’m about to order one for my 18 wrx as well but I just am confused on how you hookup the fm radio with the antenna how did u do that. Looks like one end goes to factory connector then splits one into radio and then the wire to 12v power. What did you connect that power cable to, to give it power. I just purchased this and would really like to know what you used for power on the antenna adapter

Hey ryan, Once you have it all infront of you it's going to make super sense. For the only non-plug and play part(i told them about this issue and they say they will fix it, so yours might be fully), is the radio. It's exactly like you say. There is an extra blue so 3 ends. One that connect to the back of the unit (the big antenna looking one), one that plugs into the factory connector, and the blue wire needs to twist/crimped/soder to the the blue wire or any 12v source/

i have it on mine and it works but mine is a 2015. 2016+ You can't reuse the factory amp. So it's a bit more work. There is a viewer on this channel that got it to work.

It's not that easy. Why don't you ever show how you need to get at the SIDE 10mm bolts? How about climate selector cables, especially the one by the heat exchanger under driver side (gonna burn your little fingers) and the problems with OEM backup camera. That's the video I want to see.

If you like sound quality, stay away from these units. After a couple of weeks of tweaking the system and my aftermarket amp, I'm pulling them. I've installed many alpines and pioneer head units and it always has improved the sound even on the stock speakers. I did like how I have a tablet and all the apps I want but I just can't get over how bad these sound. My stock HK system sounds way better than this.

I've liked your vids, but the fact you actually used "manspaining" in this video might be a deal breaker, unless you were just trying to be funny. The culture of trying to destroy all that is a man is more dangerous than some realize. Mobs and groupthink are idiotic things in this day and age.
