This is such an absurdly well done tutorial. Plugin alliance should just do all of their customers a favor and put a direct link to this video from their 4000 G and E product pages.
Amazing tutorial! I picked up the 4000 G in a recent sale and was a little bit lost having no background with hardware consoles. This tutorial was literally the only research I needed to begin using it effectively, extremely in-depth! Thank you!
Doc, I have been in the business since I was 12 years old. 28 Years ago I started A Computer Company, eventually we evolved in producion and business products. WOW! I left your channel on and YOU Have taought me so Much I did not know! Love it Bro!! Gonna Lock this channel and share with friends! Thank you so much!!
Just to reiterate previous comments: this is a spine crackingly brilliant video which explains some potentially difficult audio concepts in a clear, concise and pragmatic way suitable for both novice and seasoned veteran alike. I learned more about producing professional standard audio content in these 2 hours that I have in the previous 2 years. Kudos are due
Man... YT is full of reviews or quick walkthroughs. But this video is what we all need! Specially with complex plugins like this. Thanks a lot for taking your time
This is the BEST guide that I've watched on youtube or any where in the world without having to pay for it. Thank you so much BenoniStudio! I've relearned the technique that forgotten awhile ago. The best 2 hours well spent. Thank you for all your FREE plugin guide too. You're the best and your voice is awesome :)
I wish I found this video years ago. You helped bridge the gap between concepts I only had a working knowledge of and me knowing how and when to apply them. I’ve watched so many other tutorials to learn what you so expertly explained in just two hours. Thank you thank thank you
I just bought the the PA 4000 E/G plugins and this was exactly what I needed to watch. I'm only 30 minutes in and this is one of the most informative videos I've seen in quite some time. Thanks for doing this! Liked and subscribed!
Hey Brian, just wanted to thank you for this awesome definitive guide. I just got a couple of the BX Channel Strips to add to my toolset including the 4000E & 9000J and was looking for at least an overview tutorial and then I found your video. You've given way so much more. Thank you bro! Appreciate the work you've done here!
This is absolutely awesome. This must be by far the best tutorial on a plugin I have ever seen. On other sites you'll get to pay for such quality content. Thanks a lot, and of course I subscribed,
I just picked up the SSL G & E plugins. This tutorial is simply amazing! So much better than reading boring manuals haha. Thanks for putting in the effort, man! Bless!
The voice in the introduction of this video sounds like something from an 80's hot wheels commercial...lol! However, great tutorial. At first I thought the visual strip was another view of the SSL 4000 G. I have had this plugin for a while and today I figured it was time to learn it.
I think it’s worth mentioning that if you don’t have the EQ active then you don’t get any variable THD - odd harmonics are generated in the EQ block. Also, the compressor section generates second harmonic distortion when engaged but the level of this isn’t effected by the THD knob. If neither the compressor or eq is engaged then the channel doesn’t generate any harmonics. Great plugin.
I’m not sure a null test between different channels would be that enlightening. What I did was test with white noise and Voxengo Span to see how the TMT changes the eq frequency, q and gain. Having slight differences between left and right eq on a stereo channel produces some subtle width enhancement.
Not only your explanations are great, your pronunciation is fantastic, English is not my mother tongue but I understood almost 100%. Thank you! By the way, SSL 4000 G Brainworx manual has an error on page 18, in "4 Expansion Meter", the word "compression" should be changed for "expansion".
That’s was well worth the watch. You have a great way of explaining things. You gave me some new perspectives on concepts I was already familiar with. Thank you!
Excellent tutorial ! . . . You just unlocked so many secrets that just transformed my current mix ! Side chaining the filters , and that tiny little "mix" dial on the compressor . . . game changers !
absolutely great - your tutorial is methodically super professional for anybody working with the plugin and even a nice introduction into the original hardware i am just working with. Thanks!!.
The ratio thing is explained wrong a lot on youtube but you explained it well. Great video! Just got these strips and love them. The Amek 9099 is flawless on almost everything.
Excellent tutorial with in depth knowledge offered up. Using other, more graphical, plugin presentations to show clearly the concepts at work was first class. And I'm only part of the way through it. Top Drawer.
Amazing. Thank you so much for showing examples from every type of music, and not just a single mix. I feel like that’s a huge pitfall of some tutorials.
No, not like that! Thank you very much! I don't understand English very well by ear, but in your case I understood everything thoroughly, every point, every explanation. Thanks again, good luck
Thank you very much for this video. It really helped me understand the features of the channel strips a lot better. I have 5 of their channel strips (everything but the Focusrite) and I'll be referencing this video a lot in case I get lost 😂
Fantastic job at making this video both highly informative but incredibly accesable as the same time! Bookmarking this on for sure! Thanks for sharing your depth of knowledge man!
Truly one of thee most comprehensive & professionally executed tutorial out there. Having purchased both the SSL 4000E & 4000G, learning the differences is fabulous in this here tutorial. Many thanks from, Bode Ghost Productions 👻 happy new year!
This was friggin’ awesome! Thanks heaps for this thorough breakdown of the SSL 4000’s. I’m not a noob with sound engineering, but there was a couple of features I didn’t know about in these plugins and your teaching style is very clear, bro. I personally prefer the SSL 9000J and the Neve NXS consoles that brainworx made. Just my taste.
so the mastering compressor also sounded better because it was louder. might fool the perception a bit. but anyways... great plugins! thank for the info!
Thanks for this. Plugin designers should hire you to do tutorials on all their stuff. Every single user guide I've ever seen with any plugin sucks balls. And their videos aren't much better.
This video is amazing my man. Thank you. I have the 4000 and the 9000. I love their sound but I dont use em to their full potential. This video is the bible for these tools. Thank you so much. I'm gona subscribe to your channel
I just picked up the E on sale. Id love to get the J since it also has some of the G and E. I think the G sounds a little beefier. I demod them both before picking up the E. J is on my list to pick up eventually along with the shadow hills revision. Great guide. I was playing around with the channel strip and getting a little overwhelmed by what everything did. Now i know . Thanks for putting this out!
