The VOG is actually just an overpriced HPF with a resonant bump just after the filter, I am most certain we can obtain the same results with a digital eq.
I think the VOG makes the lows way tighter then any EQ or Highpass when recreating it. Tested with different Eq's and good speakers. The VOG reduces the very low rumble in some kind of way I couldn't recreate with an EQ or Filter. To me It sounds like a Transient Shaper where you reduce the release a bit or some kind of soft saturation, cause so it sounds tighter or bit compressed with it.
hey Thomas, greetings from the UK! Your accent makes me nostalgic, I went to university in Groningen, maybe you know it?Just wanted to say your videos are lekker! Keep the uploads coming and you'll be a huge channel! _small note about A/B'ing, I think its easier to tell the differences when you hear the comparison right after one another, rather than cutting away for a moment then going back (you did this on most of the examples though)._
Thanks Frederick! That means so much! Ofcourse i know Groningen! It’s a cool place! I tried keeping all the AB’ing right next to each other, i just wanted to do the dialing stuff in seperate. Will definitely make sure to double check next time, thanks for the heads up!🙏
@@thomasvopstal Render the demo and test you made on the hardware with the settings and put them inside a folder so you can use them as reference when you test it against other plugins if you ever don't have these hardware in you're rig anymore.
In essence it is a hof with a variable resonance, yes. You could make something similar with a proQ3, if it’d be as good, i’m not sure, i’d have to compare
