PMDG 777-300ER Tutorials - Episode 4: Autoland [4K]

Focussing on the specific topic of Autoland today, I show you in an easy to follow way how to set up for, and get the aircraft to fly a CAT III A Autoland onto London Heathrow's Runway 09L.
This does build on from the previous episodes so make sure you've covered those too and as before, is designed to help give you a kick start as a new PMDG 777 pilot in MSFS without too much stress or information overload!
It'll work with all the other versions of the PMDG 777 as they release them going forwards too.

Классно конечно! Молодец, прямо как я недавно )) Ты бы лучше снял видео как заправлять топливом этот самолет) А еще лучше как его настраивать через FMC. Опции симуляции, отказов, дисплеев и т.д.

ok , at what part of the video was we shown to set up a cat 111 auto land in the FMC, Looked like a normal ILS set up, but how did it show up in the display it was auto landing , what did i miss in the set up ?

Hi I followed your autoland tutotial for the PMDG B777 but whenever I want to approach the runway for landing the pfd says "No Autoland" what can I do to solve this?

did you MANUALLY bring the engines to idle before touchdown ? or was it AUTOMATIC as well ?

Automatic - I just made sure my hardware throttles were idle when the aircraft reduced to idle, then I activated reverse thrust

Also, looks like Simbrief is little slow in creating profile for this aircraft. I’m assuming they’re waiting on the release first.

I might be wrong on this, but I thought you were meant to arm LOC before arming approach. In 320 sim pilot's 787 tutorial, he said it was a hold over on the 787 from the 777, which would begin descending on the glideslope before intercepting the localiser, which apparently you aren't meant to do. You were far below the glide so it didn't matter, and I might be wrong on it. Still a great video.

You don't need to Arm LOC before APP. You can if you want the acft to follow the Localizer and not intercept the Glide Slope for some reason, maybe you're far away from FAF, but if you're close enough you can go straight to APP.

@@sdluke yh, he was fine here. From the wording in the other video, it sounded like there was a general rule for ensuring you are on the LOC before descending on the glide. I don't know if it is a difference between "cleared for the ils", and "when established descend on the glide" which I have heard sometimes

@@TazerXI well, it's a good practice to intercept the LOC before the Glide Slope. But I believe most autopilots are able to follow the GS down before being on the Loc, although personally we try not to do it in real life of we can avoid it.

You don't need to do that... If you're above the glideslope you wouldn't want to push APP because it may chase the glide and get messy but you usually always want to establish below the glide

@@BritishAvgeek so the goal is to generally always be below the glideslope when intercepting? I don't think it matters really, unless a controller wants you to be on the loc before descending, but at that point you would already be on the loc. It was just a point I remembered from another video.

No, that's a different process and can take many weeks because of how slow they are putting stuff on the marketplace. Buy it direct from PMDG.com when it's released 🙂

@@BritishAvgeek 1st. i dont get their price it says 349.999 not gonna pay that! and 2nd. i have bad xperience with buying addons for fs2020 outside of the -in sim marketplace, as it never showed up in the sim, even when installed in the correct folders, thats why i would like to buy it from the sim market place 🙂

@@mallorca1guy yeah that price is a tradition of theirs prior to the actual release - we'll know the real price soon. PMDG are one of the biggest names in flight sim if not the biggest name, so you're safe using them. Feel free to reach out on my discord if you have issues installing etc if you choose to buy direct

@@ryrydadeala Aha, classic response from someone who loves developers way too much. No, I'm not a 777 pilot, but watching a lot of 777 cockpit videos you can easily tell the sound pitch of the engines is off compared to those videos. But how dare I have a different opinion...

Nope the wiggle left and right was just the nav data telling it to fly an S from BNN - i'd have self-vectored if I wasn't busy doing the other stuff 🙂 the aircraft is fine
