As Pistons fans, we loved hearing Jordan still hates the Bad Boys. That means he got his ass kicked so badly it burned in his memory. 87. 88 89 90...Jordan simply could not beat the Pistons and it pains him to say it. Many of his teammates did indeed say it in the documentary. i give credit to them.

@Ulysses432 he was happy and focused when he was on the Pistons and not just the Bulls. The Pistons with Bill Laimbeer, mahorn and chuck dailey molded Rodman into who he was as a basketball player. He almost committed suicide when he found out he was traded from Detroit to San Antonio. The Pistons were his family. The Pistons and Detroit is who he identifies with to this day.
@MoarMike

@@paulthomas9911 That's true but the Bad Boys were also hated for having a few genuinely shitty people on the team. Laimbeer and Thomas are both noted for playing dirty and being all around assholes.

Jordan didn't switch hands unnecessarily on the Laker layup. He saw the movement from the defender on his right and instinctively switched to his left.

To that MJ layup, he and others have gone on record that Mike thought Sam Perkins was going to challenge that dunk and Mike decided to switch it up last second just in case. But Perk never did so it looked like it was unnecessary. That's how that unfolded.

@@drizzle452 MJ's greatest layup ever was in a regular season game against the Nets where he changed direction mid-air twice and laid the ball up on the opposite side of the rim. The move was so amazing that some of the Nets players on the bench cheered.
@samsansalone
@samsansalone 4 года назад
Hey PFT, I said the same thing about MJ's layup against the Lakers. There's footage of MJ explaining why he did it that way, because he saw Sam Perkins to his right and switched hands to avoid him.
@cyber6sapien
@cyber6sapien 4 года назад
And if you watch Jordan play, he ALWAYS had the uncanny ability to anticipate the movement of the defender and react before they made their move. "Kobe said that with MJ " there was no unecessary movement. No wasted space."
@bryce253
@bryce253 4 года назад
Watching the full game gives perspective on why Jordan switched hands. It was known at that time that he was right hand dominant. Teams would play him expecting him to attempt to shoot and score going to his right or right side. Sam Perkins was setting up to make a block attempt on a right side layup attempt. That is why he switched hands and why it was highlighted at the time. It was also why the Lakers were shocked that he did it. The Piston’s Jordan rules were all based on how right hand dominate he was. It showed an elevation of his game and was one of the things that blew up the game plan for the Lakers. The other was Scottie Pippen full court pressuring Magic. But that’s another story.

On the Pistons walkoff - Jordan talked about class or respect, but what the doc didn't show is that before the elimination game, at his press conference, Jordan spoke about how Pistons losing was good for basketball and how they had been bad champions. History has been rewritten on the incident by both sides

@@MrTinyTit My point is Jordan is trying to take the moral high ground when he was petty too, including comments he made about the Pistons and things like keeping Thomas off the Dream Team. He even claims that he didn't allow his teammates to complain about the style of play when he constantly did so in the media and the Bulls even sent in tape of Mahorn and Laimbeer highlighting fouls that weren't called. He is trying to rewrite history too. And you can blame it on thuggery, but the Pistons teams exploited Jordan's and the Bulls weaknesses and they had a team of all world defenders
@ryanbracken505
@ryanbracken505 4 года назад
@@MrTinyTit I'm Jordan hating and your psychoanalysis of Thomas' mentality is unbias? I'm not saying the Bad Boys were clean, but I'm also not buying Jordan's bull. My complaint concerns Jordan's comment about Thomas' excuse for not shaking hands. Jordan complained that Thomas was rewriting history and all I'm saying is that both sides are doing it. Thomas' excuse is bull at worst, half truth at best. Some may have seen the Celtics do the same and felt the need to pass on the treatment to the Bulls, other players just did it out of the rivalry/revenge. Jordan tries to take the moral high ground but he got down in the dirtiness as well. I'm not Jordan hating, merely pointing that there is revisionism on both sides
@drizzle452
@drizzle452 4 года назад
The Pistons were bad for basketball. It didn’t even feel like basketball with the tactics they resorted to, and their brand wasn’t normal at the time. All contemporaries complained and marveled at the nonsense they were getting away with. If someone wants to tell me about a dirtier team before them, enlighten me, but there was no group of players playing like that in the 80’s. There’s a reason why they are considered not only the dirtiest basketball team ever, but also the most hated
@cyber6sapien
@cyber6sapien 4 года назад
Yeah and Jordan was correct. And I'm sure that's why the Celtics walked off and didn't shake their hand when they lost to the Pistons as well. People seem to overlook the fact that the common variable in both incidents is the Pistons!
