Ive had pneumothorax two times now with 13-14 years inbetween both times. I went through surgery last week after i hesitated to do the surgery because of the risks associated with being put in artificial coma (probably not the right term in english). You're told theres always a risk and so doctors cant guarantee you'll make it, but when i woke up and the first words i heard was "Surgery was successful", i didnt regret it for a second. I was just happy as a clam, making bad jokes and thanking everyone i saw around me. Im still connected to a cardiothoracic drainage with 2 tubes going out from my right chest, but im gonna live, im gonna LIVE!! :D

What’s your age? I may be going through this but don’t want to go to the icu in case I’m wrong. Lots of ice for pain tonight. I’m trying to figure out best way to sleep 🛌 while watching these videos in bed. I suspect a sleeping pill.

@@TheRealUncensoredTravelGuide Dude. Call the paramedics if u suspect a collapse, its a serious condition if you struggle to breathe, you should check it out. Im 36 years old btw, spent almost 3 weeks in a hospital with tubes after surgery.

@@EricTheBroBean I went to urgent care. They told me 98 for oxygen in the blood. 95 is bad 100 is good. The clinic didn’t have a CT unit only X-Ray unit. I’ve noticed back is extremely poor in morning and night. My shortness of breath is at night and morning but I skipped my holiday party today at work. Too much body pain. When focused my pain in my back is less noticeable because I was focused on driving back to my home state. Nonetheless, it’s not 100 💯 not even close. We’ll see where I’m at tomorrow. My Mom just tried to massage my neck and then my lower back started hurting. Breathing is better this evening. Hot tub or ice 🧊 will happen again. We’ll see where I’m at tomorrow. I get hungry but esophagus was sore this morning but mild having soup tonight. I’m going to doctor as scheduled for Monday unless ship hits the fan tomorrow or Sunday. I’m 43

Hi. I am not able to understand how in the first xray of collapsed lung without effusion shows hemithorax opacity? Why it's white instead of dark? And how can a pnuemothorax be without collapsed lung? Because if there's a leakage in the pleural space then it means that there's a damage in alveoli too and so that's called atelectasis right?(because a leakage could only happen if an alveoli is leaked/damaged) Damage of the alveoli causes deflation of alveoli and hence atelectasis and then pnuemothorax right?

How can we diagnose a subtle pneumothorax using conventional X-Ray in a bed-ridden patient ?
@ThoracicRadiology
@ThoracicRadiology 3 года назад
If the patient can be put upright, even very small pneumothorax can be detected on portable CXR. If the patient is supine, it is usually very difficult unless a deep sulcus sign is present. Ultrasound has proven a useful tool as well but requires an experienced operator.

@ThoracicRadiology
@ThoracicRadiology 2 года назад
It depends on if there are other problems other than the pneumothorax. If it is just a pneumothorax by itself (spontaneous pneumothorax), the prognosis is excellent

Are the terms collapsed lung and atelectasis interchangeable?
@ThoracicRadiology
@ThoracicRadiology 2 года назад
Yeah if you say complete lung atelectasis, that's the same as complete lung collapse. If you just say atelectasis without saying how much, most of the time people assume it is mild atelectasis.

Doc, But what about passive atelectasis? isn't a term to define both pleural effusion and big pneumothorax?
@ThoracicRadiology
@ThoracicRadiology 3 года назад
Yes you can use that term in those conditions. If I am using the term atelectasis, I think it is helpful to put a descriptive term to define how much atelectasis you are seeing. For example, is it mild, subsegmental, lobar, or the entire lung? The person reading the report may not look at the images, so it is a good idea to give some idea how much atelectasis there is.

@lodikita5975 Год назад
Can you tell me about the findings of my xray it says Parenchymal fibrosis vs subsegmental atelectasis left upper. Is it possible that its just a poor xray procedure or can i just repeat it?
