I found that Tal Ben Shahar even has a book called "Even Happier" - it´s a Gratitude journal with weekly exercises for one year. Started doing exercises from there and listed being grateful for finding your PhilosophersNotes as one of the most fun things today :)
Hi Brian, I love your PN TV idea! :) awesome episode. I'm going to get my notebook and re-listen to it again. So many good ideas, I am afraid I am going to forget half of them :) One of my gratitudes in my life I am going to write down today is for discovering you! Thank you so much for your passion for what you're doing... and a separate thank you for what you're doing :) You're a wonderful role model in my life that reminds me about a better way to live. with appreciation, Marianna
I also love positive psychology and I can't wait to watch your other videos on the books you have read. I am working on ACT skills with my therapist. I actually found her from researching online about how to find an ACT therapist. We haven't gotten far, but I am grateful to have the opportunity to use these skills in my life. I am trying to set up some good rituals in my life and like many people I want to make many changes ASAP. I am trying to take it slow and focus on just a few. The thing which is the hardest thing for me to implement which is the most important--exercise--is really the most important. I am going to start today and do some stretching. Thanks for this Brian!!
Juliana Beasley Awesome, Juliana! You might dig this Note on Spark by John Ratey--another Harvard guy who's one of the leading experts on the science of exercise: brianjohnson.me/philosophers-notes/spark/
I read a great book called Happiness is Overrated. The book covers hedonism, platonic happiness, Aristotle's version, asceticism, and the modern versions reconceived from Kant to Hegel to the Utilitarians and the author's thesis on why happiness is overrated.
I struggle with happiness every day, it does not come natural for me. Sometimes I can't help but feel like giving up. I guess I just need to focus on gratitude more =(
