PO-20: The EASIEST Way to Sequence Melodies!
Today I'm going to show how I sequence melodies on the PO-20 Arcade. While possessing a lot of sounds, the programming on PO-20 is a lot different than most other PO's. The method I use is (in my opinion) the easiest and most efficient that I've discovered so far. Enjoy the video!

I've had my PO-20 for over 3 years now and I've made some small stuff in the past (I was around 13 years old at the time) Recently though I've been wanting to really write music. At first I was gonna do it on a DAW but realized it was too complicated for me. Then I saw my PO-20 on my desk and just thought "why not make music with this?" So here I am and I'm only 3 minutes into this video but you're explaining stuff so well that it's just epic!

Great stuff dude. Didn't know you could modify the notes in isolation before playing. Been trying to select them live at low tempo but just couldn't be accurate with the tiny knob. Informative video and well worded. You deserve a lot more views.

Free Beat I’m a total beginner so this is probably a silly question, but how do I get the audio to output thru my MBP? I plug it in but my MBP thinks it is a pair of headphones, haha. Do I need to buy a different cable or something to go in between the two devices?

@@boringnation Hmmm, I'm not a Mac guy, but you should be able to go into your sound settings and set the 3.5mm jack to "input" instead of "output." Maybe this will help? www.switchingtomac.com/tutorials/osx/use-the-line-in-audio-input-on-a-mac/

Unfortunately you're stuck to the set chords, although they offer a pretty wide range of available notes.

First off, thank you for this video. I LOVE the PO-20. It's my favorite PO. Playing with chords is a blast! Now, is it just me or did the PO display not show up right for this video? I know how the note values appear in the upper right from my own experience, but I could not make them out in the video.

I think it was the angle of my camera because I didn't have too much of an issue when I was filming. That's my bad, I need to pay more attention to what the camera sees rather than what I see. Thanks for watching!

Hi, I am a real 0 when it comes to making music. I've just ordered this cute device after watching some of your videos, in hopes that the limited functionality will help me not to get overwhelmed and learn some basic music making. If you mean the basics of music making, that's a pretty wide topic honestly. Looking up "basic music making terminology" might help, but a lot of it is just going to be watching and reading a wide variety of content. How come the bass notes changed with the chord but the melody didn't?

The base note is directly tied to the chord selected, where is the melody is not. The only time the melodic notes will change is when a note would be directly out of key. For example, if you're in d minor and have programmed an f, if you switch to d major the arcade will automatically switch that f to an f sharp.

@@dougmacknz It's just how the Arcade works. The bass note changes to the root of whatever chord you have selected.
