Those POTF2 are amazing. I love them. Seeing them all lined up in such minty fresh condition makes me want a set of my own on card. I only have Fett at the moment.
Thank you for the kind words, Dan! I'm glad to see these figures made you happy. Especially happy to hear these figures brought to mind a conversation you had with the sculptor about detail on modern figures. These resin figures actually come from a handpoured silicone mold and can only assemble one figure at a time. I have yet to gain access to industrial means of production but still am working on getting there. Thank you again!
Glad the bounty hunters gave you a bit of a nostalgia kick, Dan! It was fun listening to you reminisce as those figures came out just a handful of years before I really got into Star Wars while growing up myself. Buff Fett definitely gave me a laugh when I saw him initially. All the best, Mike
oooh one I actually know... the ramp and "turtles thing" at 14:50 is actually from a Star Wars Ep 2 line... it goes with the little jump pad that's also there... not sure if there were multiple figures that could do it, but you had a Jedi character with magnets in its feet and you would position it on the jump pad, launch them into the air and they would land on the plate... and cause its made of metal, the figure would stand upright Think the translucent Pokemon figure is a Jigglypuff or Gengar... they have a similar shape, but would need a closer look to tell properly lol
God! Thank you! I was going crazy trying to think where that platform came from. I knew I had it somewhere, I just couldn't think of which Star Wars figure it belonged to
I spotted those too, if you Google "star wars force flip attack" you can see some carded images of the Dooku and Obi-wan that these came with. Attack of the Clones line.
Those Filbar art toys at the end are awesome! Instant follow. And yeah I was all about that Bosk and 4LOM as a kid when they came out. Collected the rest of the bounty hunters for cheap a few years ago but went with the Fett from a 2 Pack with ESB Han which I think you recommended in some video. Always love hearing you talk about toys.
I loved hearing you talk about how special Power of the Force was to you That was a magical time to collect, you’re totally right, I think I might need to go get some carded examples next time I’m at my local shop since they have lots still to keep carded
I have one too. Looks legit. I went to a pretty big Con in the southwest quite a while ago. My brother-in-law noticed Bulloch sitting at a table with no line. So we walked up and made sure it was ok to talk to him because according to the (inaccurate) schedule he wasn't supposed to be signing for another hour. Nicest guy I've ever met. He seemed genuinely happy that we recognized him. He signed all kinds of stuff for us. Signed my BIL Mando armor that he made himself and we all just had a nice casual conversation for like 30 minutes. It was just really really cool.
I have no reason to doubt that it's legit. The story that it came with was enough. But also the idea that his auto isn't really worth enough to counterfeit.
They did eventually release IG-88 as a single carded figure when the line was rebranded as “Power of the Jedi” after Episode I. So I expect that will show up in a future PO Box shipment.
Man, those Power of the Force figures are some toy a.f. toys, you know what I mean? Like you said, high detail is great. But sometimes you just need a cool looking lizard guy you can make do piledrivers on cool looking robots guys.
The four anime girls are from Galaxy Angel. You're missing a fifth figure, the stands and the girl in the swimsuit's uniform that snapped over the figure (not that you were going to keep these). My understanding is that these were exclusive to the Bandai America release of the first DVD volume. That's my entire knowledge of this series and the figures, I bought this set (with DVD) for $10 at Big Lots ages ago, I want to say late 00s.
There is something to be said about the 90s SW figures being able to actually stand up on their own unlike a lot of the modern 1/18th SW figures. Yes, it would have been amazing to have two knee joints and two elbow joints on the POTF figs, but these just work. I actually like these figs more than the OG Kenner figures as well, and I had a lot of those as a kid. It's weird for me, the POTF figs are more dynamic than the originals, and they are stouter than the current line of figures. It just hits a sweet spot for me, and how can one deny the POWER of Han Swolo and Buff Skywalker.
I laughed so hard when you revealed the "corpse" in the box from Bernie. So apropos too, the way his little hands were almost folded over his chest. If we ever wanted to known what Yoda would look like on a morgue slab.
I love POTF2. I was born in 1982, so by the time I was old enough to collect the figures they were long gone, so POTF2 was my first opportunity to get these figures, and I have a ton of them. My first figure was the red carded Boba Fett. Bossk is possibly my favorite bounty hunter because he's a lizard man in a space suit, and you can't go wrong with that. lol
That was indeed Roy Fokker from Macross/Robotech at around 15:30. Dragonar is from 1987, produced by Sunrise, the same people as Gundam with the intention that it might become a successor franchise. It was fairly popular but couldn't compete with Gundam so Sunrise stuck to Gundam. It's shown up in a few of the big multi-franchise crossover computer games like Super Robot Wars and Another Century's Episode alongside bigger names like Macross, Gundam, Mazinger, Getter Robo and so on.
That Z-bot in the 2nd package is complete, it was from their "transforming " subline, you fold the top half of his body down and he turns into a car with helicopter blades...because why not.
i own an authenticated Jeremy Bulloch autographed Boba Fett and i would have to say that your signature looks the same and is signed in the same place as mine, and with the same type of pen.
I'm sure there's a lore explanation for this, but I've always wondered if Leia was impersonating a known bounty hunter named Boussh when she and Chewie saved Han, or if they just made up the character for the rescue plan.
IIRC the Shadows of the Empire multimedia project said she killed Boussh and took his armour, but that's part of the EU so while it was never canon, it's part of the ancillary media that Disney/Lucasfilm have sidelined
The potf 2 line really started my toy collecting. After getting all of wave 1, I started going to toy shows and started buying old GI Joe and WWF Hasbro I had and it all went down hill from there. But I spent so many hours looking for half circle Fett and never got him in store. Got one on eBay for like $15 a few years ago. And don’t get me started on how I missed the theater edition Luke. We saw a few people with it but not many and then we saw some dude walking out with one of the shipping cases. He probably made bank in them. Those went for like $150 at toy shows
I was working at a movie theater when that Theater Edition Luke came out. Kept it in a storage bin for YEARS. Took it out on day and the bubble just slid right off the card. Glue had completely let go. I tossed the bubble. The figure is no different than the retail release. Still have the blister card though.
@@ToyGalaxy yeah the card was the only difference. We managed to buy a loose with a card from someone in line for I think $30-$40. I’ve heard a few others say the bubble came off theirs too. I might have to eBay one just cause of the memories from it
I had met Jeremy Bulloch about 10 times and have 8x10’s signed in every appearance he had in the films. I had the Half Circle Fett ready to get signed but I didn’t get a chance before he passed. I can verify that signature is legit. And the SOTE 2 pack with IG88 had Fett in ESB appearance.
So if "ToyGalaxy" became "Secret Galaxy" because it was no longer a "toy" channel, and "ToyGalaxy Too" became "Dan Larson" due to the name change, will "Dan Larson" become "ToyGalaxy" now that you're doing toy reviews on it? 🤔 The circle is now complete 😄
