@@rickyrichards7596 If Poco weren't bringing in the kind of money the Eagles were getting, then you're not going to be able to afford to pay your members as much. I can only guess Poco's music didn't get the airplay it deserved.
@@channelsixtyseven067 Jim Messina said after 3 years of producing POCO, the Country stations said Poco was too Rock and the Rock stations said they were too Country. That was the problem, no air play. Jim and Richie left the band.. If Poco had not recorded Crazy Love they would have broke up on `1978. So they stayed together over 30 years!!!
Music from the 70's was the best. Poco was way underrated. So much talent and they weren't recognized like they should have been. ❤ RIP RUSTY AND PAUL!!!
Just sat around a bonfire for 5 hours drinking 7 and sevens with my neighbors during a crazy time of pandemic. Called it a night but can't sleep. Music has always been my go to and this song popped up. Reminded me of my stress free childhood. Such a long time ago but the time of my life. Music is what can always put a smile on my face.
I was going through MAJOR stress and depression lately after finding out I had to move during the pandemic with my giant Newfie dog and four cats. Obviously VERY hard to find a place so I losing it. Then one night I turned off the TV and put on some music and could feel my stress going down. Then just of days after that I got the amazing house I had put in an application for. She picked ME! Music is amazing for helping get through even the hardest of times.
My sweet wife died 4 and a half years ago. I think about her and miss her so much. "It happens all the time, this crazy love of mine, wraps around my heart, refusing to unwind...."
Wow Scott, I'm not going to insult you by saying I know how you feel. My wife and I just celebrated 30 years, and I don't know how I could face this world without her. You will be in my prayers my friend.
@@slade7354 …..Sweet Rusty passed away on April 14th at 75 years of age. Mary is still trying to mend her broken 💔heart😭 Just this past Sunday, August 1st, Paul Cotton passed away un-expectedly at 78 years of age. God Rest their souls🎶💐🌞
@@donnarupert4926 May they both rest in peace. Life is far too short. Passes far too quickly. Thank you for the information. God bless you, and the families of both of these legends.
Just drove from Denver to Rapid City with my husband of 28 years, daughter and her boyfriend. I made them listen to this on loud volume, windows down for at least 10 times. We were all singing our guts out. What a road trip! I didn't love this song as a kid, but I can't get enough of it now - the harmony. MMMMMM!
gtmobayer-This is a chick's list. Dust in the wind, Take it to the Limit, Leather and Lace, Takin' Care Of Business, Landslide, The Joker, Crazy ON YOU, Doctor My Eyes... ! Songs are excellent Educators of every subject. Songs expel emotions we sometimes can't find the words for. They are a gift. 🎼🇨🇦🎶🤝🎵✌️🎶
In the world of music, harmonies don't get any better than this!!! Wow, I get the same goose bumps I got first hearing this in 1979 at the age of 14. I'm 53 now, and the goose bumps are just as strong.
As I’ve gotten older I’ve lost my love for overly sappy love songs but this song and Gordon Lightfoot’s “If you could read my mind” are both so beautiful and will always be top on my list. I saw an interview with a much older Rusty and he said this song came to him while he was paneling a room. Glad he felt it important enough to write down and share with the world. Sad that he has passed now and time marches on but this song along with the aforementioned “If you could read my mind” will endure❤️
It's funny.. as I've gotten older, I've increased my love for .. overly? sappy songs.. bt in any case they're ones I knew then and can listen to now in a very unhurried fashion.
How could you not like this song!!!! 66 people have no clue what good music is!!! The harmony is outstanding!! Blows away the trash can music of today.
RIP Rusty. Saw you twice in early 70s and then again in 2010s. Poco was a phenomenal band. Better live shows than either Eagles and Burritos back in the early days.
It is hard to imagine that this Crown Jewel of Poco is now almost 42 years old. It's been 42 years since Thurman Munson died in an airplane crash. It has been 42 years since I lived in a sleepy town in NC and sitting on a porch listening to this song on a radio. Here it is now almost October 2021 and the two men responsible singing harmony and lead on this song have left us this year. I had wished that these excellent singers-songwriters-instrumentalist could have had more success as a group. But I think those of us who have listened to them throughout the years value their contributions even though they may not have the international recognition.
this song is a jewel...a rare blend of instrumentation, lyrics and vocal harmonies... songs like this one have made the classic Americana songbook of the 70's and gives credit to why Poco is considered a superband along with the likes of Eagles,Doobie Brothers,Supertramp and a half dozen others....one more thing...the sound is more on the fingers of the performer than on the so-called Ovation itself... Mariano Vico Guitarist and English teacher from Havana Cuba.
I met them on a plane (so many years ago). They were with The Byrds. They couldn’t have been more friendly or appreciative. Always loved their sound..they were real and unaffected by (so called) stardom.
I've only recently discovered this song (thank you SiriusXM) - but it has quickly become one of my favorites. I can't recall if I've ever heard it before now, but I must have - I just don't remember it. Surprising, since its such a great song!
Crazy Love" became the first Poco single to reach the Top 40 with a #17 peak on the Billboard Hot 100. On the Billboard Adult Contemporary chart, the track spent seven weeks at #1 and at the year's end was announced by Billboard as the #1 Adult Contemporary hit for 1979.
Riding along in the backseat of my parents’ car on Summer days, and this song playing through the speakers. Despite nice AC, my thighs sticking to the vinyl of our Ford LTD. The song seemed to be played every hour. Whether you wanted to or not, the perpetual airplay assured I knew it backwards and forwards.
I could never get into Poco. I was in the Navy then and all the cool guys had TEAC decks in their staterooms (we were aviators, pilots) and played Poco. I hadn't been to WestPac yet and didn't have my AKAI yet. This song, this video, the simplicity, the perfect harmony, the perfect sadness of the lyric against the happy carefree handsome youthful faces, it tears me up every time. The song you could miss, but with the video . . .So poignant, simple, so perfect. Gets me dead to heart.
The picking in the song, "Crazy Love" is so amazingly beautiful. Learning to pick that song became the goal of everyone who was trying to learn how to play the guitar when the song came out on the radio, including me. It equated to Dust in the Wind, in my view, (both are, "bar-raiser's"). The picking seems to trap you into listening right from the very beginning to the very end, and with pleasure. It gives me "the butterflies". Remember those?
this is my favorite song of all time. This and "call it love" by poco are my fav guitar songs .. yet ive never gotten around to learning them... i think it's time .. and on a simple acoustic
Man this song really hits me hard right now. Recently divorced after 24-1/2 years. This song really speaks to my emotions. Tough, tough all the way around.
Divorce is hard. So is losing your spouse to cancer, as I did after 25 years of marriage and two small kids. I'm only adding to this thread to say don't give up. I thought I was done with romance and personal happiness. I was living only for my kids. But life had other plans. I found another person who needed me as much as I did her. After 13 years and getting our kids all grown up, we are still happy and in love. Don't give up on life. Magic can happen any time; be open to it.
Just reading all of your comments guys... don't give up on LOVE . I too ended 15 years of unity. 3 years after This Crazy Love of mine revived and meet someone and this time with God's help we will make it last. GOD BLESS U ALL
Hang in there. Divorce is very painful but I’m here to tell you it does get better. I thought my life was done after my divorce but in time a new, beautiful woman stepped into my life and we have now been married 12 yrs.
painful to realize that the years have gone by so much, that rusty young and paul cotten are no longer with us. RIP . thanks for all the wonderful music that made growing up in the 70s and 80s so great.
This song was great back in the day. Funny thing is, it's even better now IMO. I can't seem to single out 'aspects' of the composition that I'd highlight. The harmonies, the guitars, the timing of the added percussion, keyboard and additional instruments were all put together as if God himself intervened. Succinct and impeccable. Someone or something was watching over the boys when they put this song together.
Rock on and on brother!! Now you can share your Crazy Love of music with all of existence and beyond! I pray that You and your wife and kids may soon find the peace that you truly deserve . “NONEBETTEREVER”!!!! Your music speaks for it’s self . Nothin I could say would come close to doing it justice. May you Rest In Peace for as long as you need, cause If things are as we’ve been told, that heavenly rock and roll band awaits for your wings and strings. I hear they are spun of gold. Rusty, Please know that we are TRULY HEARTBROKEN to see you go! You will sadly but lovingly be missed by us all!! Thanks for all the sharing and caring!!! You made this world a better place , always had that sweet, sweet smile. One more time man..... Now and forever, ROCK ON AND ON !!! “ KUDOS “, Zi
Such a completely beautiful song sung so perfectly. The lead singers voice and tone is so poignant, fits the words and music. I love this song and its almost 40 years old.
One of my favourite song when I was only 15 years old . Now I am 59 years old. 44 years gone already but still I listen to this wonderful song that touches my inner heart 💖 and remember my good old days . Remember you Rusty young for your miracle voice .
One of the best Steel players ever. Thanks for keeping Poco going. Great harmony, great contributors, amazing songs. Glad you were one of us in Colorado. RIP Rusty. I’m sure those who know and love the music of that era are not far behind. I will play it for the grandkids so they will know.
I saw Poco at the Arizona State University Activity Center in 1978. The headliner was Graham Nash...Was anyone else there? What a great era, with musicians who actually played their instruments and sang live. I wore the Legend record out...
Just watched Sara Evans sing this at the Grand ole Opry. She was great! I still had to hear the original though. Hadn’t thought of this song in many years.
I loved Poco the first time I heard them (Magnolia), my favorite band ever since. Crazy Love blew away all other favorite songs in my life and still does. R.I.P. Rusty, miss you and love you always. Thanks for blessing us with your great talents.
taylor swift , bebe rexha and a few others actually try.. but people attack them for it... :( it's a shame "rock" has devolved to basement djent bands with no talent and pop has devolved to whatever the execs allow to be played
There are some really good more folky/Americana bands out there. Oddly one that's AMAZING is a Swedish band. Have you heard First Aid Kit? Also the Lumineers, Strumbellas both are far more singer/songwriter types than pop. Same with Of Monsters and Men from Iceland.
NOPE .Im a 54 year young GUY . Who grew up with the BEST AM Radio station on CT . during the 70;s WICC 600 am Bridgeport , CT. THEY played a ton of stuff . my Grade school days were filled with all kinds of Music. Elvis . The Rolling Stones . Poco , The Eagles , etc etc
