Pod Stallions 113: Halloween TV Episodes 

I was very lucky to see Mad Monster Party in the movie theatre when it was NEW. When it first came to TV in the early 1970s - stations saved it for Halloween weekends.

The Starsky and Hutch themes songs were awful. Really awful.

The only person Chuck Norris respects is Brick Mantooth.

The knight rider Halloween was great it had the Bates house from psycho and people wearing the silver shamrock masks from Halloween 3. And of course the fall guy had the classic episode guest starring the queen if Halloween Elvira

I'm vaguely remembering a Halloween episode of "Benson" with William "Blacula" Marshall as the Grim Reaper.

I once saw Fred "Gopher" Grandy on the Tonight Show when the Love Boat was in it's prime. He told Johnny the show was "like elevator music for the eyes". 😅

Oh dear lord. Your wife watches nothing but 80's sitcoms on endless streaming repeat too? I feel your pain man.

great podcast! id like to mention The Paul Lynde Halloween Special....1977 ..not tv show halloween episode but for me very memorable...one of those things i thank God youtube exists for ...with exception of KISS being on the show ( the only reason to check it out now imo) it is more late 60s feeling ...you almost expect to see Dean Martin , Sammy Davis Jr and maybe the Beach Boys show up

Finally finished the episode...you guys forgot the Fall Guy with Elvira and Highway to Heaven with Anthony Zerbe & Michael Berryman as the devil. Both fun episodes, imo.

I remember the Walnuts out of the closet , Dick Van Dyke. but I TOTALLY did not get the "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" spoof. I was not a big fan of the show. Cheers had an almost scary Halloween episode once. P.S. really dreary revivals THE MUNSTERS Revenge and the Adams Family Halloween Special. 1977/1978 ? First Season of Happy Days was 1974. The show did NOT take off as a huge hit till 1976.

CHiPs did a Halloween episode with guest Donny Most called Rock Devil Rock that aired around Halloween of 1982. I recall some rock star devil guy wearing Kiss makeup. Pretty funny stuff..

Oh man...the guy with the memorable face in buck Rogers....anthony james. I have an early childhood memory of watching Burnt Offerings on tv and being creeped out by his grinning chauffeur character.

I think the Star Trek T.O.S. episode “Catspaw” can be considered a Halloween episode.

You missed Catspaw from Star Trek. Even though that's not a sitcom. Also, there's a two part Punky Brewster episode (I don't know if it was a Halloween episode or just nightmare fuel). The Perils of Punky where a ghost in a cave murders all the kids...it's messed up.

Remember about 25 years ago or so, nick at nite would do 24 hour blocks of episodes on Halloween and they’d do it on Christmas as well. They don’t do it anymore, now they just play like 10 everybody loves ramon episodes and 10 king of Queens episodes and that’s it! I can remember Nancy Drew Christmas and Bewitched Halloween from those old blocks. Good old days

"The Ghost of A. Chantz" didn't actually involve a ghost. Mel and Alan Brady had everyone go up to a hunting lodge to work on a script, but it was all a ruse. The cabin had been rigged to scare the crap out of everyone and Mel was filming everything from behind a two-way mirror as a kind of "Candid Camera"/early reality TV prank.

I think the reason Spock reverts back to a savage Vulcan is due to Vulcans being telepathic in a way, he's linking with the ancient Vulcans. He kind of explains it. I think he's the only one being affected.a

This was a really fun episode. I'm a little surprised you folks didn't mention the Punky Brewster "Perils of Punky" episode. That just melted my adolescent brain as a child. I think when shows like Rosanne did their Halloween episodes they were real fun for me as a kid. But looking back on it, I feel like it was kind of weird that a blue collar sitcom about a really struggling family would be able to go all out for Halloween on that level. It personally as a kid gave me some real lofty house décor goals. Anyways. was like they lived next door to a Spirit Halloween ran by Tom Savini and he owed the Conners a life debt. The Home Improvement episodes were kind of similar in that vein but I could buy "Tim Taylor" with his own TV show being able to go all out for spooky season. It's weird, I don't remember the Facts of Life one you mentioned but there was that one that took place within a dream within a dream scare at the end that shocked me. What a fun time to be a kid and love Halloween.

I think there was an episode of “Happy Days” with a haunted house. Yes, there was a haunted house episode from the second season.

As a 90s kid I have to address my personal opinion in that Home Improvement had some of the Best Halloween episodes 😊

I used to watch The Dick Van Dyke show as a kid, too and, bizarrely, the only episode I can remember is the one with the alien walnuts. I must have been so young that, even though the show had a light comedic tone, this episode must have become conflated with all the Twilight Zones I'd been watching and disturbed me a bit...and got stuck in my memory.

I'd consider CBS's failure "Flying High" as "Love Boat on a plane" and NBC's "Supertrain" as Fred Silverman's attempt to replicate "Love Boat."
