I now own this playset mostly complete with the box, but something that confuses me is why the klingon on the top of the box has what looks like a cheap yellow light up sword? Did the klingons use yellow glowing swords on the show? I don't think that they did, but then I haven't watched the series fully yet. I really wonder why mego gave the klingon that sword because it looks really strange. I guess I will put the yellow glowing sword with the pink handle in the artistic license category.

Spider man, the exterminator has to be my favorite toy on this list just for how ridiculous it is. It's so ridiculous that it wraps back around to being amazing. It's one of those toys that you enjoy because it makes no sense at all but is fun, so it doesn't matter whether it makes sense or not. I also like it because it's a toy that you would never see today for two reasons. A) Licensing is much more strict now, and B) it has a realistic looking toy gun in it which you can't do anymore.

I had Frankenstein's monster but I don't remember how I ended up with it, I wasn't a monster kid so I'm sure I had to have gotten it as a gift. Still, I got plenty of use out of him as both Solomon Grundy, as is, and putting Superman's suit on him for Bizarro. Had friends who had the other three and I remember thinking out Drac was cheaped-out with the printed suit, even just making the coat as a separate piece would've improved that figure a lot.

A friend of mine designed some skate sneakers for one of the leading brands. They flew him to China to over see the first production run. He said they have armed guards walking through the factory to ensure the employees do not steal the molds as they are very lucrative to the knock off industry. Sounds like what happened to mego in the 70s, Some one borrowed the molds for the night and returned them the next day.

I kind of like the Sears computer playset just for how 70s it is because it's a teletype in toy form. I wonder how rare those are, but I would guess pretty rare. Most of the toys from Sears from the 70s seem to be pretty rare.

Great video Brian. I had the Lincoln mummy as a kid in the 70’s… the bloody wrap was indeed cool but his face was fantastic & it sealed the deal. I am hesitant to go on eBay to see how much it’s going for these days…

i think the old Tim mee Galaxy Laser team wins. plastic with a Buck Rogers, Darth Vader, squarish R2, Wilma/Leia with a computer, a Chewie with antennae and sorta X wing fighters. had two bags of them. all characters came in pink, white, light green and black varieties in one bag. lots of fun scaled for Marx dinosaurs , army men or Noah's ark animals. used to carry them around in a big yellow plastic box. i may still have a pic of the box

Wow, I never knew about this illustration of Lawrence Montaigne for the card art on back of this vintage Mego figure meant to depict his Romulan character Decius or at least a generalized Romulan character. I wonder if he ever knew about it. I doubt it. TV actors of his generation rarely ever saw any type of royalties for toys or merchandise using their likeness. And I agree with you that the sculptors likely used the appearance of Mark Lenard for the reasons you gave. The Romulan illustration on the back though is definitely of Lawrence. I recognized him right away in this video's thumbnail as I was searching Star Trek related RU-vid videos, which is why I immediately clicked on it. Years ago, during the late 80's, I was fortunate enough to be in the stage production of To Kill a Mockingbird with Lawrence. He played the lead character Atticus Finch and I played Dill Harris the next door neighbor. It was quite a memorable experience working with him. We all rehearsed for a 2 to 3 months and then performed the play about 10 times before an audience. I remember afterwards he invited us all to his house for a cast party which was also memorable. He had expressed that during the early part of shooting the original Star Trek series, he was asked to possibly take over the role of Spock, because Leonard Nimoy was strongly considering the idea of leaving the show. Lawrence described one time when he was invited over to Leonard's house, possibly to discuss this transition, and said that Leonard was a bit moody and was being a bit anti-social that night. He explained his wife sort of came to the rescue and made him feel like a welcomed guest. But as fate would have it, Leonard decided to stay with the show to continue playing Spock. However, Lawrence would later get to reprise his Vulcan character Stonn in the 2008 film, Star Trek: Of Gods and Men. I was happily surprised to see that when I did. He also once called me on the phone, because I just happened to be auditioning for the same agent he had had for years. I didn't know that at the time. It was just a coincidence. He simply called to give me encouragement, which was really nice of him. May Lawrence rest in peace. He was an interesting man who played many roles in life.

i only saw Baron Karza once and the magnets worked . nobody had Force Commander. but theure both in the Micronauts comic. including theor centaur forms. thankfully the comic story is not just the white armored guy bs Baron Karza the whole series. Karza is the big bad and often defeated all of the good guys. and had the Aliens (the Micronauts aliens( helping him.

Great video & those vintage commercials are pure 70’s gold… Never had any POTA toys thank God. When I was 4 or 5 I caught a bit of the first POTA film at my best friend’s house & it TERRIFIED me. About a year later, my sisters & I were invited over to play with some kids that went to our grade school. We didn’t know them very well but they were nice. However, they brought out the Milton Bradley POTA board game & it creeped me out. At that young age, I didn’t question the game existence, tho I distinctly remember thinking why would anyone want to play with it & the fact that these kids had it spelled nothing but bad news… needless to say, never went back over there to play…lol.
