The smell of vinyl is so intoxicating. I don't know if it was the fumes, or I would reach a state of zen enlightenment when I went shopping for Halloween costumes every year, but I was always on top of the world.

Went to Vancouver during the Halloween season many years ago and this whole block went insane with Halloween decorations. It was a scare house after haunted house. Adults had crazy cool costumes too. From what I found out, many of the people in this neighborhood worked in the film industry. Go west young Brian! And keep the pod cast coming. Thanks!

Thanks for this, just fantastic. I was yoda in 1980 as well. He kinda has a bad rap now but that year he was the man. I also had the empire lunchbox and I seem to remember yoda being pretty prominent.

1:54 My ultimate “autumn” outfit as a kid in the ‘70s was a knit brown sweater-vest over a mustard-yellow polo shirt with burgundy corduroy pants and brown pleather platform loafers …needless to say, i was the coolest kid i knew 🤓

I remember a commercial for a chocolate bar, Crunchie Bar IIRC, where Dr Frankenstein zaps the monster to life, it grabs a bar and then slowly presses it in to its forehead. I can't find a copy of it.

Love Jason's joy every time he spots a hobo costume. Fun bit of nostalgia. Those plastic masks looked cool, but after a half hour, you couldn't see or breathe, so everyone would be walking around with them pushed up to the top of their head.

Thrifty was a drug store with freaking awesome ice cream - their own brand. Thrifty is long gone, but they recently opened some Thrifty Ice Cream stores in Las Vegas.
