Jack is wonderful. Please have them back. Thank you for giving Paul a proper send off. I think kids that were unique, knew themselves at a young age, & came from not so decent homes found a friend in Pee-Wee. I wanted to live in his house and go on adventures with him. I know I was on a routine and tuned in every Saturday. Towards the end I was a little sad when he'd ride off on his scooter with that sad little jingle but that I'd catch him the following weekend which felt like forever in kid time. I have such good memories attached to him. Regarding the arrest, I never thought it was a terrible thing seeing how we still had adult theatres kicking around. I vividly remember saying, "what's the big deal and what was that cop doing in the theatre next to him?" Just like Jack stated. I'm happy his career got a second wind. The outpouring of love since his passing has been amazing. Thank you guys. ❤

I can't find the article anymore but I had read it a few years ago. What it said was that the police in town were known to raid the adult theater on slow nights because they were easy tickets to hand out. Sadly Paul happened to be there but he always denied having exposed himself. A local journalist regularly checked the arrest records and mugshots for stories to write and she recognized Paul, then decided to write the news story. If it hadn't been for that journalist recognizing him, it most likely never would have hit national news at all and been so widely spread. It's really so unfortunate. I was 10 when he was arrested and my entire family were Pee-wee fans. I'm grateful my parents were logical about what occurred and never demonized him and said Pee-wee is just a character, he's not the same person as Paul, and what he did is what most people do in those theaters anyway. I usually was the kid to come to his defense on the playground, too, whenever I heard others bashing him or saying their parents wouldn't allow them to watch him any longer. I actually have a Pee-wee doll on my desk at work and I'd either get coworkers stop by and say how it made them smile, or that he creeped them out. A few years ago, one of my peers said "wasn't he a pedophile though?!" and she didn't even know adult theaters were a THING back then! It really upset me that people are still misunderstanding him and what even happened. I'm just grateful that Paul had a comeback between 2010-2023 and he felt the love that so many of us still had for him and this hilarious character he created.

41 years old and I use to watch Pee Wee's Playhouse in real time and the theater incident was very shocking at the time. Especially seeing Paul Reubens mug shot. I sucked when the show got canceled and I remember it was labeled as "Pee Wee Herman" caught in a porn theater. He was flawed like all of us and I have nothing but good memories that he brought. RIP Pee Wee

I still remember the weird dynamic when people talked about Paul Reuben's arrest. "Pee Wee got arrested for jacking off in a porno theater" "He got arrested for that?" "What?! Yes, he's a pervert!" "It's a theater showing porn. What do you expect people to do?"

I was about 10 when he was arrested for that and I'm so grateful my parents didn't 'ban' Pee-wee from my house. We all loved his character and they were very clear with my brother and me that he's just a character, and what Paul did is what most people did in adult theaters anyway. He didn't hurt anybody. He didn't deserve what happened to him. I remember other kids' parents not allowing them to watch Pee-wee anymore and I ALWAYS came to his defense, even then!

I was already an adult when Paul was arrested and I didnt think it was a big deal because in SF we had public XXX theaters back then (the Mitchell Bros theaters),and it was a given that people were being sexualy motivated by being in the theater ...I remember going to see Deep Throat in a large theater haha...same energy of George Michael getting arrested
