I will never be able to get the image of Glenn Close possessed by a demon saying THAT LINE out of my head. Lee Daniels is insane for making Glenn do and say those things.
Are these review time limits self-imposed? Because I could seriously listen to you two talk about movies I'll never watch for HOURS. No embellishment. Please don't ever feel like you have to 'wrap it up' for any audience-based reason!
In the real life story, the social worker and the nursing staff saw the boy walk up the wall. It’s different if one or two people say they said something but a group of people saw the occurrence and I just don’t see why they would lie.
@@RichardHannay THIS WOULD BE AN EMMY AND GLENN HAS BEEN NOMINATED 8 TIMES FOR AN OSCAR AND NEVER WON.....A MATTER OF FACT THIS WOMAN HAS BEEN NOMINATED 118 TIMES FOR DIFFERENT AWARDS SHE DID NOT WIN BUT SHE DOES HAVE 3 GOLDEN GLOBES. THE INDUSTRY AIN'T SH*T ON SO MANY LEVELS
I really love that yall reviewed this movie because I always watch your reviews, and this is the FIRST ONE for a movie THAT I WORKED ON! 🙌🏾. I was Caleb’s second-teamer and body double and we spent 2/3 summers working on this movie. It was so much fun to film, slightly chaotic at times and had so many script changes. I haven’t seen the full movie yet but I’m glad that you both found it entertaining!
as someone who has worked in mental health services for over a decade, i kid who will publically poop and throw feces is not too rare-- especially for sexually abused kids... so, i think the themes they were touching on with the girl's period and his feces was setting the tone for the kids experiencing abuse and social services intervention
The real story about this house is insane. CPS and the police are interviewed for a doc about the real house saying that the house was terrifying. The little boy actually went to the hospital at one point and the cps worker and nurse said he crawled up a wall.
And the ironic part is a priest performed an exorcism on the mother… I’m thinking the folks who owned the rights to the story said “you can use the story but without the exorcism” so Lee Daniels made it his business to push that it was NOT an exorcism lol.
Yeah i have very mixed feelings about the real story, like every claim is second hand, or hearsay as they say in a court of law and probably there was constant abuse and violence in the house. I think what really happened is another case of "the devil made me do it".
Yeah I saw that lil documentary about the priest doing the exorcism about the lil boy running up the wall backwards then flipped over them. Those people ran out the door! It’s real people don’t want to believe in it or maybe they do because they’re scared ,but still will not give their lives to the Lord I don’t understand. Pray for the lost 🙏🙏🙏🔥
Zak baggains. Host of Ghost adventures. He fakes everything. The original claims are way exaggerated. He even hired actor camera crews to get "possessed".
I really enjoyed this movie and I’m a horror snob. I found the effects as good as other bigger budget horror movies so, maybe there’s a bias because it’s Lee Daniels. I really enjoyed this film and Glen Close was so damn natural ratchet😂😂😂
Maybe Tyler Perry set the bar too low…but I thought this was a good movie. It was a real movie with real stunts and hair/make-up, plot lines, A-list actors, culture…it gave what needed to be gave. 👏🏾
Yes, the stunts were very real. I did the stunts for Mrs. Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor. Had a blast working with her again, as I did the stunts for her in Lovecraft Country too.
Was this a genius piece of work? No...but it was highly entertaining and to be honest, the acting was actually pretty fantastic from Glenn, Audra, and the kids.
If this movie is crazy wait until you watch the documentary THE REAL STORY IS EVEN MORE CRAZY. The social worker her story is shook me she's scared out her mind and she has to go therapy , the cops so many people witness these things I'm so glad he made this movie. I watched the Demon House Documentary. I can't believe he actually made a movie out of this story. Lee Did his thang im so happy to see it.
I just watched this and I must say the actresses all kick ass. But the problem is the 3rd act. What I love about this movie is how real it was. The mother and grandmother are problematic and straight up! This movie is better as a non-horror movie than a horror.
Glen Close is an absolute legend. Monique is back with Lee, Omar sexy ass is on the screen and us black girls with crazy white moms and childhood trauma are finally having our stories told. 2024 is a special year ❤❤
@@000zamaru wait until you see the scene! It’s hilarious and disgusting at the same time. Once the movie comes out I’ll be posting some BTS while we were filming, and the clip from that scene is crazy!
Glen Close was a treasure in this movie. It was entertaining enough but really bad. The power slide while speaking in tounges at the end was hilarious. My wife and I couldn't stop laughing. I don't think that was the directors intent lol. Say what you will but it was memorable at the least.
I do too! I wish I could go to the movies with these two truly delightful humans, and just go off about what we saw afterward. I thoroughly enjoy these reviews, especially when they deconstruct what went off the rails in genre films.
@@christophercobb249 it’s at the point where I need to see their reviews first before even deciding if I want to see the movie, lol. I’ve been watching their old reviews from years ago! So entertaining!
Soooo the police, the nurses, the Social worker just lied about what they saw? I'LL NEVER UNDERSTAND HOW PEOPLE CAN BELIEVE IN GOD AND THE THINGS HE CAN DO, BUT NOT THE DEVIL, DEMONS AND THE PARANORMAL
I just watched it, and I’m going to tell you that I loved it 😍. The 3rd act was a little off, but I loved the slow paced movement. Yes it had its faults, and a lot needs to be explained like the husband, and the back story of the mother and daughter. Other than that it was a great movie imo.
For real. In what universe are the cops going to buy that the apostle lady was killed by a demon. No less a little more than a week after another person mysteriously died in the house. So many plot holes. Movie just went apeshit for the third act.
It took me a hilariously long time to realize that was Glenn Close. I kept thinking "that feaux Creole lady looks just like Glenn Close!" Also, Andra Day's character was so infuriating. Glenn needed to beat her ass.
Alright, you have intrigued me and I do love Glenn Close. 😊 Update: Last night I watched this movie and you guys were not lying. Never in my life did I think I would hear Glenn Close say some of those things. I can't remember just enjoying a bad movie so much! Baaaat Shite Crazy
Had to watch the movie before I watched your review...which is always so entertaining! Anyway spot on review, but I did enjoy this movie with all it's errors, I found the dynamics between Ebony and Alberta sooooo interesting. That really would have been a better movie, or at least more intriguing. Yes that hair weave/hair braid scene was a perfect and felt like Daniels was going to explore those peaks and valleys in the family. At the point where we get to the action and the Devil presents itself....climbing walls/talking with frog in his throat/changing form....it goes on and on...the devil actually killing the expert and the non believer finding faith....enough already.....anyway how in the world did they explain that dead Apostle in the basement? and Mo'Nique, her roll just seemed almost an anybody roll. However, knowing the past issues she and Daniels had, her appearance in the movie heals some of those wounds. Still this movie is watchable, could it have been better...probably....but this is the movie Daniels made, the end fade to black. When I told my boyfriend we were going to watch Deliverance, he said with Burt Reynolds? Which was more suspenseful. I had to keep telling him that the Mother is Glenn Close. Very funny! As always, thanks for the entertaining and insightful review.
I think it’s sad that people are treating this like another bad Tyler Perry film, but Lee followed pretty much every exorcist movie trope pretty well. The wall climb scene looks just as silly as every wall climbing scene I’ve ever seen lol I think Andra could’ve toned down a bit, but the kids all did really well. I think this movie is way better than twitter people are making it out to be. Great review as always
Hey fellas, I couldn’t agree more with your review of The Deliverance. I gave it a 2 out of 5 also but then went back and changed it to a 3 simply because of the lead performances, the interaction between the actresses, and the fact that I would absolutely watch it again. Man I freakin’ love Glenn Close!
The first half of this movie had me so engaged… as soon as it went into the “deliverance” I clocked out. I enjoyed seeing the themes on motherhood and generational curses but Lee must have spent his budget on the cast cuz the CGI was a choice 😂
The first half was so good. They should've just made it about the mom and dying grandmother overcoming their past before she dies. It would've been touching. 😢
Lee Daniels’ film-making is world-renown for its austerity and subtly. I bet he handled the poop-throwing scene with understatement and poignancy. Lol! I love you guys and your videos! This review delivert me!😂
Netflix recommended this move to me based on my viewing history. I was skeptical but decided to go with it. After I watched it I offended this was recommended to me.
In real life, it was a catholic priest who made the exorcisms on the 3 Ammons children. Why did it change that on the movie?, even saying "We don't need an intermediary", or "you can do it" (anyone) "justa have faith"..what was the point? Do you know something?
Per usual I had to come here after watching it today lol. I legit texted my friend,” I’m confused are we supposed to be scared or praising the Lord?”😂😂😂 anyways love y’all review!!
The best scene in the movie was Glenn Close doing a sew in weave for Andra Day 😂 I bust out laughing at the “deliverance” scenes. The visual effects were dreadful.
I don’t understand why people want this film to leave the supernatural components up in the air when they didn’t require that from Exorcist or The Conjuring. It’s not a documentary, it’s a thriller, so it’s ok to cement supernatural events as real.
I saw a preview of this movie and sat in shock through most of it. I couldn’t take it seriously, and didn’t find it funny either. Whenever Glenn Close was on screen, I had to remind myself to close my mouth.
I can’t believe Latoya allowed this movie to be made because a few years ago she didn’t even want Zak Bagan to come in their new home because he was doing a doc on her house and she was afraid it would attach back on them. Zak did speak with her cousin and he wasn’t allowed back in their home afterwards. Zak almost went blind while filming overnight in the real demon house. Unless they were able to make this movie without her consent.
I remember that too from Zak Bagan’s Demon House. I wonder if because he was actively going in and filming inside the house, she was afraid something would attach to him and it could get to her. But since he tore it down maybe she was ok with it now (?)
I just watched and I actually enjoyed it. It was well produced, well acted, and entertaining. Also they really showed Gary Indiana. Glenn, Babbbbby was everything! Andra was great too.
Glenn Close gives the comedy performance of the year. This movie was damn entertaining and so was Fish Jelly reviewing it. I’d love to talk movies over lunch and a smart cocktail with these guys!
