Thank you for this podcast. I've been on anti anxiety medication before and I completely agree that it does help to numb our emotions. But the one thing it didn't do was change the thoughts that were causing those negative emotions in the 1st place. I'm so grateful that I came across both your books, Switch on Your Brain and Who Switched Off My Brain. They've both been very helpful & I'm learning a lot. :)

I love this! I struggle with depression and anxiety, but refuse to take any medication. I've been feeling so stuck lately and hopeless. I pray this helps me. I really believe it wilI. I have been sharing your information with my Mom, she speaks no English, only Spanish. But the stuff I share with her, she is amazed with. Especially why we need to forgive. Thank you so much for your work and dedication!

Depression can most definitely be a disease. It can be a chemical imbalance...such as deficiencies in circulating dopamine and serotonin. There are times in life where everything is going fine and people still just don't feel well mentally. No... antidepressants are not an absolute cure, but for me along with MANY other modes of dealing with my depression, my antidepressant certainly DOES help to balance out my neurotransmitters. Please do not put a stigma on people needing the help of psychiatric medication.

Dr. Caroline I love you so much your heart to help people and to show us love and compassion. I am black by the way a South African I am a huge fan of your work Your such an inspiration to us here. Your belief in the human spirit is so encouraging you just give so much good virtue. So Dr. Leaf my mother is struggling with depression. How do I get her to see that it is a state of mind? That she can think of herself out of that?

Well i agree if you have the will power. I don't agree because I'm an example. I ve gone through a lot of pain since age5 now I'm62 still going through different pain. I either run away from the ones causing pain or I have to be numbed. Zoloft has helped me. Other wise dealing with old parents and their health issues would drive me to put them in a home. I can't for they did a lot for us siblings.

I've been taking an antidepressant for anxiety and depression for 25 years. I'm on the lowest dose possible. I've been working very hard on my thinking and my relationship with God. When I come off my meds, after 2 weeks, it feels like there is an open, huge hose of adrenaline pumping inside my brain. I truly want to be off these meds, but I am afraid to do it on my own. I have never found a Dr who believes this is a good idea for me. I need help with this and do not know where to turn.

So now what should those of us do who have been on anti-depressants? I've tried to get off 3 times now and handle things with diet, exercise and natural means, yet each time it has gotten worse. This last time I came off of the anti-depressant I thought I was in a good place, but I see now I need more work on my thoughts. In the meantime, I need to simultaneously work on thoughts while on the anti-depressant. Would love to hear you touch on weaning off of anti-depressants.

This is good. I don’t agree that we are born ‘perfect’ though. The only perfect one is God. We are born sinners and born into a sinful broken world. But God. He is the only one who can save us, we must be saved from our sinful flesh and this sinful world.. Apart from that, your teaching is good, and you have hit the nail on the head when it comes to being more mindful about what we put in our bodies and the damaging effects of these overprescribed psychotropics Thank you

When she uses the word perfect she is talking about our own unique way of thinking. How you uniquely and specifically think, how you uniquely and specifically feel, and how you uniquely and specifically choose. Your "perfect" you is unique to you. In fact, God has designed you as an individual and you are the only one who can perfectly be you.
