Used ginger powder for migraines multiple times, did not feel any noticeable effect. But then I tryed chewing on fresh ginger root. Bingo, this really did help me. Less pain, faster recovery. Seems the fresh root has more working compounds.

@Bill Ding the constructor : I don’t mean to over analyze your comment, but I believe that we learn from others all the time. For example, in politics I will listen to liberal media & conservative media in order to decide for myself which party to support. Also, with regards to the pandemic, I enjoy reading articles explaining the importance of vaccinating, but I also like hearing from those that oppose vaccines. When it comes to proper nutrition, I make an effort to subscribe to multiple channels & then I decide what regimen works best for me. These are just three examples. So, I’m not sure what you mean by “we’re original at first, but in the end we’re copies”....NOT REALLY. I personally like saturating myself in an abundance of information in order to be well informed on a matter, & that’s the best way to make good decisions. Be well. 🌱🧘‍♂️ ☮️😷

Dr Greger, I want you to know I really appreciate you. I've been a vegetarian for years for what I call ethical reasons, but I realize after listening to your podcasts and lectures that I was paying more attention to what I should not eat than what I should eat. Yesterday my doctor called to tell me I have osteoporosis at the age of 66. It is likely due in part because I had ovarian cancer and hysterectomy on my 19th birthday and post-menopausal much longer than the average lady experiences at my age. I wish I knew about Dr Greger's daily dozen a long time ago, but there's no time like the present to get a handle on my health. Thanks again, Audrey.

I've started drinking a smoothie made with almonds, dates, ginger, cinnamon and cloves. I've lost 9 pounds without changing anything else. I look forward to seeing what happens if I walk every day. I am a window washer so I do move quite a bit through the day. (It feels like 5 hours of aerobic exercise) the weight wouldn't go away until now, I was looking more for a warming winter drink than something to take weight off. I also had a blood clot in a varicose vein that was really large. I was looking for a natural alternative to help dissolve the blood clot. I don't know if it's mainly the ginger or if it's the combination of all 5 ingredients but something is helping me. I had actually given up trying to lose weight. I started drinking this to warm up and my pants started getting loose. I started washing them in hot water. Then I stepped on the scale and couldn't believe my eyes! If I don't drink it for a few days I do start gaining weight again so I do think this is the determining factor for me.

I like making a tea out of ground ginger. I put some in boiled water and add soy milk and stevia. If you had a bit of soy milk first and mix, it dissolves the powder better so it doesn't settle to the bottom. You just need a small amount of ground ginger. Like an 1/8 teaspoon to 1/4 teaspoon.

I've never had Menstrual pain, But I take 1.5 tsp every day for 6 months+. Buy my feet still hurt from diabetic Neuropathy, Some days are worse then others. It does seem to help with insulin sensitivity. I have cut way back on insulin at a type2. But I have changed a lot of things to get to this point, mainly huge diet changes, so I can't pinpoint how much the ginger is helping. I buy ginger in bulk online, rather then the grocery store. So much cheaper. I add it to my Plain greek yogurt as that is the easiest way to take it, and I don't mind the taste. I could also put in 1/4 cup water and stir it up with my mixer.. then drink it quickly before it settles out..

If I could get the same result with ginger powder I'm all in, because all these painkillers can't be good for my stomache. There are many compounds that have been conserved in all living things for billions of years. And there are also odd coincidences. Opium from poppies led to the discovery that our brain makes its own natural opioids. Similarly, the well known munchies effect of marijuana smoking led to the discovery of natural canabinoids in our brain that have a strong influence on appetite. Aspirin was originally developed from salicylic acid in willow bark extract. The list goes on and on.

Thinking carefully about your comment. I've often wondered if a healthy body let's us know what we need or don't need to eat or drink, and maybe if we really like it a lot, that it might be our body trying to achieve balance. This idea also suggests that we might look at our overall lifestyle, or timing (menstruation) to see why we might desire or dislike a food. It's notable how many children dislike eating animal products, makes us wonder if their bodies know better than to ingest it. Listening to your own body's likes and dislikes sounds quite helpful. If you don't like ginger, maybe you don't need it. I enjoy the amazing things science shows us, clearly there's a lot to discover about this, an interesting exploration.

@@broddr well you kinda prove my point a little bit, if we have those things in us and if taking more has kind of bad or addictive effects, surely fasting would be the better option to let our bodies do there thing since its already in us? good point tho
