7 years ago my husband had a massive hemorrhagic stroke. He'd never smoked or had high blood pressure. The neurologist thought it might have been caused by ginkgo biloba of which my husband was taking high amounts regularly.

Thats why I stick to supplements that are tried and true with a proven track record of safety long term: milk thistle, b complex, and vitamin D (the third only during the winter), as a vegan who does drink every weekend (young 20s adult, prime years lol)

I’m surprised that flossing wasn’t mentioned in this podcast about halitosis. If there’s no protein to decay, it ends there, no? Works for me!

Love you, Dr Greger. Thank you for all the research you report on. My life is far better for following your sage advise over the past 12.5 years. May the Fourth Be With You. Vote Blue💙

Am I the first one to comment? Wow! Why? Anyway, I like to thank Dr. Greger. And I have a question: Does adding wheat bran to my food help (apart from eating plant-based whole foods that I do)? I also eat oranges by peeling just the thin orange layer of it and keeping the rest of the white layer on. Is it a healthy choice?

Thank you dr gregar. You are a lifesaver. 4 weeks in plant based vegan and the damages caused by years and years of keto are being fixed. Also. I want to get 2 teeth implants. Is it safe?

Chlorhexidine will kill a mouth infection in three days but is a carcinogen. The Ayurvedic use of the Calendula plant as a tincture does the same thing but it takes 2 weeks or so. When ever I get a tooth problem I use the Calendula tincture (home made) and it's gone. Of course your milage might vary, this is just me talking here and It works for me...

So doc, what is the specific bacteria that causes bad breath? By any chance, is it strep mutans? Also, I'd like to see the study that says that hydrogen peroxide rinses MIGHT be cancer-causing.😀

where are all the 100 year old vegans? where are the 90 year old vegans? i keep seeing all these claims about veganism being so great for longevity but i see zero evidence. the oldest vegan i have ever heard of was Dr. Ellsworth Wareham, who died at 104, but are there any current vegans who are over 100? what about 90? what about 80? i need to see some real evidence here. where is this population of impressive, elderly vegans? don't show me some 60 year old botox influencer who works out and spends 5 hours in the mirror every day, i want to see a large group of people who are 90+ years old and thriving on this diet.....so where are they at?
@nancyferland6044
@nancyferland6044 2 месяца назад
I've heard that the people who follow the "Blue Zone" lifestyle are amoung the longest living people. They are 95% plant based and longevity is the shared characteristic. There are other lifestyle choices that can be attributed to longevity, but diet is certainly central.
@yanwain9454
@yanwain9454 2 месяца назад
@@nancyferland6044 as you said the "blue zone" examples are not fully vegan. They follow clean, omnivorous diets and avoid ultra processed foods. That being said, there is some deception in the way the blue zone data is presented. The data is cherry picked and under close scrutiny, reveals a politically motivated anti-western and anti-semitic bias. Did you know that asian americans in the state of new jersey have a longer life expectancy than okinawans? The asians in nj are actually a larger, more genetically diverse population too btw. Ashkenazi jews in NYC are among the longest lived people on earth, but that fact is inconvenient to the narrative that the blue zone publishers are pushing in more ways than one....

@@nancyferland6044my reply was removed. I guess they can't handle the truth.
@psbjr
@psbjr Месяц назад
No it wasn't removed. To answer your question, it is rare to live into your hundreds. I have family that did so, but they are genetically gifted, not vegans. Meta analyses show blue zone diets yield higher lifespans, but the number of people actually practicing wfpb is such a small percentage of the population that you'd be lucky to find even one in any given retirement community. That said, 7th day adventists are vegetarian and they have greater lifespans and healthspans.
@yanwain9454
@yanwain9454 Месяц назад
@@psbjr i still don't see that comment i said was removed but anyway, with the 7th day adventists they did a big study on 7th day adventists and it showed that vegetarians lived longer than strict vegans.
