I believe the airfoil theory you discussed in the video has been largely disproven. There's still some debate in the field, but the majority opinion at this point is that airfoils work by redirecting the airflow around the craft js a partially downward direction, thereby creating the downdraft, and jts associated lift and induced drag forces.
