Hey everyone! Earlier in December 2017, Immigration New Zealand announced changes to the remuneration thresholds for Essential Skills Work Visa and Skilled Migrant Residence applications. Unfortunately, some migrants looking to work or gain residence in this country will once again need to renegotiate their incomes with their employers in order to stay in New Zealand. And it’s so soon too, following the previous changes to policy in August last year! I think I would have at least 180 points as an IT Project Manager with 20 years experience. Great video 👍🏻

It seems almost impossible to reach the 160 points unless you have a job offer from an NZ employer.

Ooh I might just scrape the mark with work experience in software. I'll be giving this some serious thought, thank you for the video, it really helped bring some clarity to the system.

It's 2021 now, EOI to apply is on hold since March 2020. You cant get residency till 2023. Coz it takes more than two year to get residency from start till get approved.

It's a minefield lol. I think we're at about 130 points so currently need job offers to put us other the threshold. However all the jobs we apply for are asking for a visa. But we can't get the visa without a job offer 🙈🙈🙈 So plan b is to visit New Zealand for 6 months to get an idea of what it is like to live and work and hopefully gain a better insight in how we can apply. Not sure how else we can go about it.

Hi there, still a bit confused about the work experience section. Can I claim for work experience if I had worked from home as a baker. I was not registered for tax because my business earned too little - so all I have are a few letters from former clients to say I had supplied them with cakes. This was about 10 years ago, so it's been difficult to find former clients. I subsequently did get my chef diploma AFTER this work experience.

New Zealand standards for age discrimination is world known. And its difficulty in moving there. Extreme age discrimination and difficult country to move -the only way is to give them thousands of your hard earned money to attend one of their universities.

Hi, thanks for the well explained video. I'm 24, a Nigerian citizen with a UK masters degree in Procurement Logistics and Supply Chain Management. I only have about 3yrs plus experience in Logistics and Procurement. I have about 120points on my EOI application. I'm from Pakistan, my country is not in the list of exemption. I want to do assessment for my Master’s Degree from NZQA. So, is it possible to apply Add-on to my Bachelor’s degree for Long Term Skill shortage and do assessment on my master’s degree? I paid 610$ Including Add-on charges. Because I want to claim 70 points for my academic qualification and 15 points for skill shortage. Please advise!

What does a Masters in education with 20+ years experience earn for points. Assuming the diplomas pass the NZQA review, my Universities aren't on the exempt list.

Tanks for taking the time and effort to make videos like these. My wife and I are looking to do our EOI soon and according to my calculations we should have absolutely no issue with 205 points (worst case). Double checked it on the points calculator on the immigration website (found here www.immigration.govt.nz/new-zealand-visas/apply-for-a-visa/tools-and-information/tools/points-indicator-smc-28aug) and it was spot on! Well done and thank you again. just one question, does my partner have to do the IELTS if I'm not claiming any points for her? I assume not.

I am principal applicant and I understand that I have to assess the diplomas and transcripts. Also I would like to claim my wife qualification points and she is lawyer in Turkey. So I know that the lawyers should get license however is it possible to assess her diplomas accordingly IQA. Does EOI accept this? Thank you in advance.

Hi please explain one point. Skilled category list - occupations mentioned there, their salary needs to be minimum 25$ (excluding tax). If the profession is not on the list- your minimum salary needs to be 37,5$ . Am I right? 2nd question- if I get graduate level 7 in NZ, do I need to submit my existing degree from my country to NZQA? Which degree INZ need when you want to apply for extra 50 points. For migration and skilled man NZ could be choice but not for undergraduate student.Universities are highly commercial.

Hi, Very useful... thanks for sharing... So I am 44 years and my spouse 39, we both hold masters degree. She has a diploma in early childhood education with almost 2 years of experience (documents available) and 6+ years of experience in giving private tuitions (not sure if this counts). I am the primary applicant got my PAR done for my bachelor degree (and not masters) and have been assessed for level 7. I have 10+ years experience in Procurement function + 5 years in hospitality industry (this was before landing Procurement job). I have checked and do see Procurement listed in the shortage list albeit the qualification not exactly matching, so I believe some years of experience will be taken off in lieu of that. Also, wanted to understand how the per hour rate will be calculated for me who's paid on monthly basis and if there is a criterion to calculate this number for immigrants from low cost country (LCC). I have PTE score cleared and my wife will take it up soon. Question: how much points do you think I will get? How does "outside Auckland " thing works. I mean how to claim those points whilst am off shore (India). Should I get PAR assessment done for my wife too? Will it add up? Will her Master degree will suffice or the diploma I stated can add value too? If not Auckland which should I be targeting. Thanks for any help!
