But yeah it would make sense if she chooses to leave heaven because of their hypocrisy and zealous conviction to the extermination.

@@Mary-Aura Pretty much. Can't blame Emily though since Sera is basically letting Adam and the exorcist commit genocide of human souls (demons but still) which does contradict what heaven supposedly stands for: redemption and second chances.

@@strawberrycanoe Yep. Seems like Emily looked up to Sera as a sort of wise mother figure until Adam accidentally revealed that they've been exterminating demons. Worst of all in Emily's eyes is that Sera knows about the extermination and actually encourages it.

@@Mary-Aura I personally see Sera as the _embodiment_ of a Sunday Christian. (With a dash of lying about her orders coming directly from the Big Man himself. I can’t imagine Hazbin’s God didn’t expect some sort of rehabilitation program considering angels can fall and humans can fall, and risen humans [winners] can basically spend vouchers on another person so they get an assured spot in Heaven [HB’s Cherub episode], and that is probably as corrupt of a system as Gotham is as a City.) Sera isn’t just “do as I say not as I do” but she’s actively looking down on the souls _she_ deems unworthy from a morality she seems to have come to on her own. Sure, there are a lot of Sinners who “belong” down there (Angel for how many people he iced as a Mafia Prince, and Alastor… because of his _entire_ deal, Husker probably for cheating and stealing, not just his vices. But someone like Vaggie, who spared what seems to be either a Sinner child ((????)) or a Hellborn she wasn’t supposed to touch/harm anyway? She didn’t deserve what Lute did to her-especially if it was a Hellborn kid, I don’t know if Viv’s statement on “Sinners can’t have children” is still canon or not, because the Hellborn are protected from the extermination-Vaggie was literally following orders) but those who don’t, _really_ don’t. And Sera, who seems to be just flat out willfully ignorant, is acting like there is always a good reason. What rules did Vaggie break? None of it was a Hellborn. And showing mercy… I get that, yanno, Passover is a thing, and Angels aren’t kind and loving and are the Heavenly Host to God as His army but… Lute went waaaaay overboard. Not to mention the behaviors Sera would abhor in a Sinner: takes great pleasure in the torture of Sinners, is constantly scheming and plotting, believes that the suffering of others is funny, feels ordained by _God Himself_ to find his entertainment by erasing _his own_ descendants, is… actually I think that last part actually makes Adam _worse_ than Alastor. If Alastor _had_ a descendant (let’s just stick it to he was being performative for the times, and took a wife and did his “husbandly duties” which resulted in a child-regardless of how we might or might not HC Dad!Alastor) I do not believe he would find joy in harming his own flesh and blood, and would be revolted by the concept of, even as a demon, the concept of hurting his great great grand children should his line persist. That _one_ tiny difference makes Adam far more “holy war” and flat out more vile than even an unrepentant Radio Demon. A demon that Sera would condemn to erasure. But Adam? He’s “fine” he’s not only innocent and trust worthy, he’s saying that his morality aligns with Heaven’s. And yet… his morality is _worse_ than Alastor’s or Vox’s (and possibly Valentino’s but I will give Adam, as first of his kin, the benefit of the doubt there). Sera approves of Adam’s beliefs. That means she can’t/shouldn’t judge basically any Sinner since some of the worst Overlords are less corrupt than he is. She is complacent and a liar. Sera also is… ungodly levels of arrogant. Which is _fascinating_ because according to the irl bible, Pride is the root of all evil (HMMMMM), and while subtle, the arrogance, the ego, the condescension, pretension [which has a synonym for it going pretension > conceit > arrogance > pride], are all traits of an extremely proud creature, to its very detriment. And while the Bible will tell you that money is the root of all evil, when really the coveting of physical goods, or money, is the problem. That is not Greed. Greed only desires things. Pride is many other sins wrapped into one, particularly Envy, Greed, Lust, and Wrath. It is the jealousy of those who want money turning from God instead of seeking God’s help to know that they can get money by working and following His path. Being complacent while tied into Pride, really is (I’m quoting a random Christian website) “[complacency] is apathy in motion, which is an oxymoron.” But in Sera’s case? She absolutely has Pride driven apathy. She doesn’t care for the Sinners who once were human. She doesn’t even really, when speaking to her Divine cohort, seem to care about the Winners either. She just is worried that Hell will overrun Heaven, due to Lucifer’s Pride. And yet her Pride, her Pride in herself and that she is right that Hell, Hellborn or Sinner, is going to invade Heaven and overthrow it. One can be Proud while also unsure. The extermination seems to be her [and possibly Adam’s] idea, and that it wasn’t run by God, ever. Pride caused the extermination. And on both ends. Lu thinks that, in his arrogance, no sinner wishes to do better, or got dealt a bad hand (Vaggie so far is the only one who hasn’t actively been a living human with a body count, and Charlie doesn’t count). Lu has a lot of pride around still being a seraphim. And it shows in how he treats Sinners. And how he was afraid to dream again after the Fall. So to me, Sera is _very_ evil (wouldn’t that be a twist: Sera is Roo, and has been just chilling in Heaven for thousands of years, biding her time until she can strike) because I’ve been in the position irl where people will shrug (I have severely hurt myself to the point of trying to get a clearly messed up joint back into place, and am a sobbing wreck) and just walk by (on a campus no less) and it’s not just the bystander effect. It’s apathy. Apathy mixed with hatred. The same way Sera sees herself as above basically every other angel there. Even other angels aren’t worth her time except to keep them in line. So I do think Sera is evil. I think she’s also hypocritical. And that she will do anything to either come out on top, or secure her position she feels she is entitled to. (Sorry for the essay! Writer by choice, English MA because I didn’t need a second language unlike my second love: History ((first science/math)) so I love picking apart character motivations.)

It’s possible she will get a redemption arc where she realizes the error of her ways!

Or she tries to cover it up because she’s already on thin ice now that Heaven knows she’s been signing permission slips for annual mass genicides since the beginning of time and now there is living proof that none of it was necessary and everything she said in the courtroom to justify the exterminations was lies of someone complacent in multiple war crimes.

Well we don't really know yet but mark my word she will do something we will hate her so bad

@@Mary-Aura Yeah! Personally, I say this because Sera just... you know realizing her own mistakes and helping Charlie would be too easy. I feel like she'd need to like, fall before she realized that she was protecting her own image more than she was protecting heaven. Whether aware of it or not, she was doing more for her image than heaven, as Emily was the one keeping the citizens happy.

Yeah it’s pretty ironic that the way Sera took to protect heaven (aka the exterminations) lead to heaven actually being in danger since now sinners have access to angelic weapon and they also know angels can be hurt w them.

Sera is a morally gray character. Like they say “the road to hell is paved with good intentions” and i think that phrase perfectly encapsulates Sera’s character arc ✨

Sera definitely wants to protect heaven but ironically it was her actions that lead to demons finding out that angels can be killed which means she indirectly put Heaven in great danger as a result

It is possible that the winners (aka the human angels) are restricted to a specific ring like the sinners do in hell. And the exorcist angels who are “heaven born” (probably) mostly reside in another ring but can travel through any. Ofc that is if heaven has rings like Hell does which isn’t technically canon. But ofc the most probable answer is that it’s a classic example of a plot hole. 💀 lol
