80s music TOTALLY ROCKED!!!! I'm so incredibly thankful that I grew up as a teen in that decade. The perfect time to be in the teen years. Back then we had to go to an arcade to play video games. We had drive in theatres and stone washed blue jeans. No internet, instead we actually had real friends who liked to do crazy things to have fun. Friday and Saturday nights we even went to the skating rinks. Oh it was so much fun, especially when you eyed that pretty girl you were scared to talk to. No we didn't text back then, there were no smart phones or cell phones. Back then you actually called a girl, if you had the nerve, and asked her out on a date. To top it all off the movies were great and so was TV back when everyone was always trying figure out what JR Ewing was up to on Dallas. We only got to see cartoons on Saturday morning, then after that we played outside all day trying to find an old tire to push down the hill to see it bounce. We played outside all the time. A wonderful time to be a kid, especially when you finally heard your favorite song from Casey Casem top 40 on the radio. If you were focused, you would record the song from the radio onto a tape recorder, LOL!!!
OMG you described my childhood to a tee! The first song that I ever recorded onto cassette was We're Not Going To Take It by Twisted Sister! You really summed it up from arcades to roller rinks. I see the neighborhood kids get off the school bus these days and straight into the house and disappear while us 80s kids couldn't be kept inside! The 80s where absolutely great times!
When being a kid was fun adventures and real friends not fake internet friends. You walked to there house talked in person and played outside. Used imagination
Too bad I didn't grow up in the 80s... Though it is my favorite decade, especially in music... I wish I could do those things as a teen, but I would probably get rejected....
Like all 70's babies, how lucky were we to live as teenagers through the 80's. This song : an absolute anthem for a then 16yo girl.. and as a 50yo now....the rebel inside reignites whenever I hear this song. Huge thanks Poison for making us feel forever young 🎸🔥
@@Darthsinned Yeah me too!!👍🎸 This song almost reminds me of myself: Walked/ran🏃♀️ away from home at 16 to escape my uber religious family to try n fend for myself in the big wide world: "🎶Turned her back on a best friendship n watched her family slip away 🎶" pretty well sums it up!! This song and a tonne of hits from Guns n Roses & Bon Jovi pretty much saved my life- with NO regrets-as I keep walking to the beat of my own drum still. This music genre gives me such an invigorating boost every time I hear it!🎸💕👍
I gotta admit the 80's starting with me seeing KI$$ w/Judas Preist opening when I was 12.It's true what they say about this time period. It was crazy all the drugs, sex and r-n-roll and going to wild shows is true.
I was young and can't remember the year (81? Pre makeup removal but after Peter and Ace were gone) but my Dad told me I had to see them, so he took me to see KISS in the early 80's. Then a few months later he took me to see Alice Cooper. Now I'm the one dragging his old butt out to see those same bands lol
My mom loved his song, because I broke her heart by running away ... But I did come back home by 17. But I miss my mama ,🙏and I listen to this every time it rolls around
Headbangers Ball debuted April of 87, MTV had been on air less than 6 years at that point, hardly WAY before. And how do you know Michael’s a kid? Could be the same age as you Army Beef, or even older 😁
My mom taught me everything about the 80s I love her so much I miss her to death she is my guardian angel now I just lost her three weeks ago I miss you so much you don’t even know we were soo close we felt like we were twins. I miss her so much. I’m bringing you home before Christmas Mamma.
I'm 18 and this music go harder than everything now days. It actually has meaning and gives you a good feeling. And a feeling to relate too... God bless
The irony of this song is 3 dudes left small Mechanicsburg Pa to go to Hollywood and make it big and they did. They wound up calling themselves Poison. By he way I still love CC Devilles guitar playing.
Cool story. Fr. Although I wonder if I cringe at my younger yrs,how older ppl must feel... Like in the 80s did art transfer to real life? 🤔 I was born in 82. I don't remember any dudes wearing glammy makeup
Im a 91 kid & thought 90s was great until i heard 80s rock & it wipes the floor with anything that came in the 90s. Nirvana, pearl jam or anything later was the music that destroyed rock
God the women in the 80s were so naturally beautifull!!! This woman ...Pam anderson ...Bobbi Brown ...Tawny Kitaen...Heather Locklear....the music was better back then ...movies were better ....even the food tasted better back then ....no mass shootings ...no pandemics....If only I had a time machine ...I was a teen in the 80s and they were by far the best days of my life!!
Not sure about all of that, but I think alot of the women today are prettier, but I think it's because they perfected the makeup. Give me those 80 bods. I don't need every woman tattooed either.
I live in Nebraska. When the town of Pilger got hit by a tornado a few years ago, Michaels went to help out the residents. He just seems like one of the nicest guys you could ever meet. He puts on some pretty awesome shows as well.
The artistic freedom, the still-developing evolution of the genres you mentioned, and the imagination to just do what the fuck you wanted to do musically. From the 80's to early nineties, we will NEVER see another era that was as excellent as that was. And from a black man who's an avowed Hip-Hop and metalhead, Poison was truly one of the underappreciated bands during that time. Their songwriting, musicianship, and performances were legendary. And their music still endures to this day of how great a group they were.
@@thegodfather1907 Yeah there was racism come on, dude i'm Mohawk Indian born in the 90's have older family members that were around back then. in the 80's. There's been racism in this continent for centuries. Plus I'm a biracial dude but i will grant that it wasn't being pushed as much as now but to be fair critical race theory was started in 1980 by some Marxist cucks. But in places like prison racial tension has always existed. It's jus tribalism but magnified beyond tribes and across larger populations. The 80's had it's problems the Contras and the drug wars to start. But yes, music, fashion movies, were better,.
I remember recording this video on VHS to take with me when I moved to the island. My sister and I made tons of music video VHS tapes so we didn't miss Canada. Damn! Memories!❤
that is very cool, but i really like the bass line during the pre-chorus. something funky about it that fits the song perfectly the rest of the bass lines, not so much but Bobby was never the adventurous type on the bass.
Man I’m so glad I have an awesome dad who can play this type of music. No other kids I know has even heard of poison or def leopard. I wish there were still bands that made this genre of music. Even if they did it wouldn’t feel the same.
There will never be a decade of music like the 80's, being from the class of 1986 I got to listen to it all and loved it, anybody still listening in 4/2024.
"Fallen Angel" the video shows the father upset that his daughter is just (out of the blue) leaving home on Friday. The song is called (Mama's) Fallen Angel, when it actually is (Daddy's) Fallen Angel.
C.C.'s guitar and Bobby's bass were both just blistering hot in the entire album. Absolutely killer tone and punch. Why can't we have music like this now?!?
The 80s. Just the greatest musical decade ever. The joy, the excitement, the fashion, it was truly the best of times. Most of all, it was fun, fun, fun!! Any new bands out there, remember to put a smile on the peoples face. Rock n roll will never die!
CC, my 3 buddy's and myself at the Rainbow on the strip one night. At one of the tables outside in the patio. OUTSTANDING time in my life!!! CC, thanks for the drinks brother!! You rock!!
Aaaahhhh..... Pretty girls with big hair, crisp bangs, and acid washed clothes. Guitar solos with a B.C. Rich Gunslinger and a Nagel paintjob. God I miss the 80's. Lol!!
+danh5150 The 80's still live! Check out the following bands: Crashdiet, Loud N Nasty, Crazy Lixx, BlackRain, Sister (album is called Hated or the demo album Dead Boyz making Noise) Peepshow/States of Panic, Nasty Habit (Hip Shakin Fox is an awesome song!) Salems Lott (No Choice to Love) Reckless Love, Gunner (Holdin On), H.E.A.T., Dynazty, Santa Cruz (Shred Til You Drop is a cool video they have on RU-vid!) De La Cruz, Toxic Rose, Sister Sin (Liv Jagrell is the best female singer since Doro Pesch in my opinion) This should lead you to all more new metal bands.
+Shaggzila almost all the band's you named are awesome crashdiet freaking rocks! also bands like toxicrose veins or Jenny dirty penny are also really good
CC's the man. That's how he switches guitars 5 times during the solo. Poison rocks. I was born in the fall of 1975, so I'm just old enough to have rocked out to this stuff when it was new. 20+ years later, I still rock out to it! Go Poison! I hope you rock forever!
Man, I remember I used to watch MTV all day long, and just fall in love with girls in the videos over and over and over again. There's a girl in the Nelson video for "Love and Affection" that is on screen once for literally 1 second, and I can still remember her face exactly to this day. The girl in Billy Idol "Rock the Cradle of Love", the Aerosmith videos with his daughter, this video, I mean... those were awesome videos back then. Lord knows what effect all that had on me to this day.
The girl in Rock the Cradle of Love always reminds me of my crush back in early 90s because that song used to come on MTV when we were hanging out. Good times Rachel Kelly.
I grew up in the 80s listening to this and other metal bands and have never stopped. I’ve been listening in the 90s, 00s, 10s and now. It’s certainly the best and today’s music can’t compare.
God how I wish I could back to the 80's. Being a teen back then was the Best... My friends, the parties... The music.... Being in love was the best part....🙄🤔😳💔 OK. maybe not...😳 Having friends... ...The 80's ROCKED!! OLD SCHOOL. ⏰
as I listen 30 years later ..one of the most underrated gutair solos ever. Captures all the emotions of the characters portrayed ....love it .Of course song is written way before video director's vision steps in lol
@@yankeerose879 Exactly!!! Also, at 46, I understand how our younger counterparts might take issue with some of the stereotypes, but I find nothing offensive about this video. Pure 80% fun!!! DLR took jabs at everyone, and if he didn't who cares!!!
I was 5 when the 80s ended. Old enough to get a sampler of how awesome they were, but gone before I could really take in all in, so it feels like an amazing dream world I wish I could experience now. At least I grew up on songs like this. LOVE Poison and the hair bands, this song's so underrated.
CC is singularly underrated. I am a guitar player myself, CC may not have the chops of EVH but he has the same level of musicianship. His solos are never a flury of meaningless notes running up and down the scales like a pattern exercise - his solos are melodic mini songs in themselves. CC, Zakk and Eddie, all have mastered this skill - I can absolutely sing their solos because they are so memorable and so melodic and so well composed. I cant say that about most other guitar players. And yes there are many others in this category like say, Nuno, Sykes etc but I find these 3 especially skilled at writing beautiful solo lines.
Legends ❤️❤️ ❤️ I love the video, the loving dad and mom, the hot girl, the timeless awesome rock music 😎 , those were the golden years in music industry . Nothing now comes close. Classic 😍
You might have missed out on the easy going life and good times of the 1980's but you can listen to the music anytime. You are just catching up. Poison was one of the best bands of the era and there were some good ones.
Damn I loved Poison back in the day. This song came out in 1988, senior year of high school. You could have the worse day ever but listening to their music made you forget about all the shit going on in your life!
MUY CIERTO BROTHER MTV PASABA LOS MEJORES VIDEOS DE MUSICA AHORA SOLO💩💩JAMAS REGRESARA A LA GLORIA QUE TENIA CON ESTAS BANDOTAS Y POR FORTUNA EXISTE RU-vid PARA REGRESARNOS AL MEJOR TIEMPO DE LA BUENA Y MEJOR MUSICA SALUDOS A LA DITANCIA
My one wish is that I had a surround system to watch MTV with back then. We have the systems now, but not the MTV!!! The 80’s were great for a 10 to 20 year old!! All the bands toured everywhere every year! MTV played all their videos all day and night!! Great times!
I agree, as a guitarist I've had a lot of influences and inspiration, but he's the only one who's really the one that I look at and think that one day I want to do that. His solos, his riffs, everything is just so great, gotta love him!
