Great video! Do you try to manage / control poison ivy on your property at all? Also, are these vines (poison ivy, virginia creeper, riverbank grapevine) considered harmful to the host trees?
We do not control any native plants in our woods, although we do remove poison ivy from around the house, and sometimes from trails. All three vines you mention could potentially shade a "host" tree, and some people remove them for that reason. We prefer to leave the vines to fulfill their niche.
Is there a plant besides the virgina creeper that makes hairy vines on oak trees that is also not poison ivy? I was clearing stuff off trees and did not see anything ivy looking but then noticed the red hair vines... I say uh o to myself but I never got a rash so I guess it was something else.
