Hey Ricky! Thank you so much for honoring my request, I'll bill I'm a blind drummer you did not say what your finish was like! See you next time you're in Denver thank you
The kit is green with silver sparkle flame outlines with a black border shooting up each drum. I’m not sure if you’ve ever had your vision but picture the way a flame would be airbrushed on a custom car paint job. The flames on Rikkis drums are just the ends of the flame and not the flame body. So you could say it’s green with curvy silver sparkle lines moving vertically up each drum.
@@Assimilator702 hey thanks a bunch Joe! Yes I am a hot writer actually and an artist so I do know what flames look like thanks for the comment, peace!
Hey Tom! Thanks for the positive input yeah maybe you could come to my next show with me and help me set up my rig? Ha ha always looking for that Trump attack you know! Rock on everybody
You & Tommy should have a drum off during the show. I think u are the top drummer in the game right now. All of Poison ☠️ is in top form & fighting shape. Please come out with a new album with original songs. It would be huge!! 🔥🔥🔥
Poison is killing it. Many say they are stealing the show & actually should be the headliners. EDIT: Thanks 4 the like Rikki! Also, is Poison ☠️ going to record a new album of original songs? You guys are on fire & a new Poison drop is exactly what the world needs in 2022! 🙏🏻
Saw them at the show Rikki filmed this video at…. Council Bluffs/Omaha. They were headlining as he said and I’m glad I got to see them as headliners instead of the warmup act on the stadium tour. They sound just like the album live and don’t feel like they are mailing it in. They absolutely should be at least co-headlining the stadium tour. Glad he confirmed everything you hear is live because it sounded so good I would have assumed it wasnt! 👍🏻
Man,,, I just saw the whole show last night in San Diego. I’ve seen all three bands multiple times, a poison last night stole the freaking show. The crowd was so into poison even outside Petco people were talking about that poison was the best
Thanks for sharing, side note: I recorded at your studio back in 1992 and the engineer ( sorry, do not recall his name ) brought in your first flame kit and had me record on that! It's great to see you enjoying the tour on your bike as well as the shows. See you when you roll into the UK next year!
Wow! Didn’t realize there was so much detail behind a kit. For a non drummer this was pretty interesting, especially the technology behind the sticks! Very cool.
Rikki is one of the reasons I picked up playing drums at 15 in 1986. Today at 52 I’m still playing all the time. This video is killer for me to know what he’s using. 🤘🏼🇨🇦
Hello to my favorite drummer for over 20 years, hope all is well with you and the band. Yes I would love to have a couple of pairs of your exact Ahead drum sticks. Just shoot me a message and tell me how I get them. Keep on rocking and I hope to hear from you soon..
I've always liked "Rikki"..I remember meeting him at "Guitar Center" (Upstairs/Drum dept). He was Very Cool..My friend "J.R."(Johnny Rampage) worked there.🤟🥁🤟
Hey Rikki, I know no one will answer but I'll ask anyway: Why are the Poison headline shows Only 8 songs+2 solos?? I know it's strict on the stadium tour but barely 60 minutes headlining? Where's "I Want Action" "Something To Believe In" "Cry Tough" "I Won't Forget You"?? I won't even dare suggest deeper cuts but the ones I mentioned are all standards in your headline shows. What's the story here??
Rikki I would definitely love to get my hands on those sticks if you are able to make them available! Also have you considered doing drum cam during shows?
That is really interesting about the MD 445. Understanding it's a vocal mic and not knowing the specs I would wonder if it could take that kind of SPL. I think I might just try that one myself. Thanks!
Ok Rikk, I am indeed interested in those sticks, the caveat is ( and, I hope I am putting the Cart wayyyyy, out "ahead" [ ALL Puns intended!! 😂🤨 ] of the horse here... !! ) I have a small fortune tied up in cymbals, as I don't have an endorsement of any kind, on any of my gear!! Soooooo, I hope these sticks 🙏🏼 don't chew the B'Jesus out of my "little Brass beauties!!!!" I am sure ( 🤔 you and I are sooooooo close in age... ya know... We aRe BotH "JUST OLD ENOUGH" tO DRiNk in A bAr LEGALLY...... !!! 🤫🤭 ) as I was saying, we are both old enough to remember when this very stick manufacturer made the Aluminum bodies W/ several different colored plastic screw-on-off tipped sticks that just destroyed almost anything they came in contact with, and most importantly, my Cymbals, which were "Sabian AA's," and FRESH NEW IN THE MARKET!! That was when the "Zildjian Brothers" who were running Zildjian at the time, had different "points of view" and...... VIOLA, SABIAN IS BORN!!! ( Another great thing about the mid Eighties, ehyyy!?! ) So, I am concerned that my investment could be at risk, but I AM SOOOOO TIRED OF CREATING "SAW DUST" AND "KINDLING" AT MY FEET!!!!! Sooooo if ya "wood" ( there's that pun thing again... 🤨 ) let me know, I just may take a "wack" ( 🤨 ) at those sticks!! I play 2B and a few years ago I went to 5B's on a dear friends suggestion!! These Ahead's just may do the "stick trick!!" ( 🤨 ) ANYWAY, KEEP ON KEEPING ON BROTHER DRUMMER!!!!!!!!!! PEACE!!!!!!!!!! 🤘🏼
I wish like hell I could see you guys .. making ends meet for my family,,, it’s tough man with inflation .. The best band of 35 years .. we love you guys as diehard poison fans…
He stopped in 2015, I own 3 rockett kits and one of them is by far the best I have ever owned and I have had several DW and other top shelf kits. This one just plays like butter and I have been gigging for 11 years on it. Used it last night. I keep goinh back to it every time I get new kit lol. If you can find one and they are hard to find, get it.
Poison is stealing the show on this tour… the energy the band gives every other night is amazing. Crue and Def Leppard need to let poison headline some dates. I never thought I say it but Motley Crue needs to retire after this.
I used to say that about Crue BEFORE they retired the 1st time. Its uncomfortable to watch and listen to. I've been a fan since seeing them in the clubs before they even got signed. Not a hater just keeping it real as they used to say.
Rikki, I have gone back to standard 14" depth on kick drums. I had not realized how badly longer bass drums lost the bottom end of the kick. I had twin 16 x 24 kick drums with a kit back in 89 and I liked that depth. My current 2 kits are very different. My DW kit is a jazz kit with a 20" kick in 18" depth. My Ludwig kit is a 26"x14". I know the larger diameter is a lot bigger but that shorter depth really packs the boom. The long 20" may be a 20" depth, have to measure it. I have fought that kick to get what bottom end a 20" should have. Lovely kit and I really dig the way you describe and unpack everything for us man. You have come a super long way as a musician and a drummer. Glad you took care of yourself and you're still around. Enjoying your playing now more than ever man. I too liked my 5000 pedals I used to have over my 9000 double bass pedal. I think they were quicker or smoother, can't put my finger on it.
Rikki: excellent drum tour. Thanks for also talking about the microphones. Yes, please make your signature sticks available. I would love to buy some! 😎
As an old Roadie, I love this series brother! My best Poison memory was from 2001 when you guys were out with Warrant, Quiet Riot, and Enuff Z Nuff. During sound check in Tampa at the Sundome all 3 drummers were line checking at the same time and you walked in. You jumped up on the kit and all 4 of you jammed for about 30 minutes, just drums! It was the most amazing thing I've seen/heard! At one point you came down to the front with a cowbell just so you could watch and listen, but still be in the pocket. I still tell that story on the road sometimes and some people don't believe it. I wish there was video! Hopefully I'll catch you guys down the road. Stay safe out there!
Thank you for all you do. I loved the license plate by your drums that night. I had my plate 4 Poison in the crowd, would have loved to give it to you! Had it since 99, you are an amazing drummer!
Hey Rikki, Great looking kit. Love these drum nerd videos. Keep them coming. Yes on making your signature Ahead Sticks available. Love the color and size will grab some for sure.
Awesome! Always enjoy your awesome kits; the sound and artwork on theme!!! Your Open Up and Flesh & Blood kits are my all time favorites! Their live sound are the best!!! Thanks for keeping Rock alive!!!
I've never listened to Poison but I know the band and I like gear plus I've been a Green Slug user for years so that's why I'm hear 👍. I always appreciate a gear run down
Rockett ! Super cool. Thanks for showing us ! Always have loved ur gear ! Big fan ! … and YES PLEASE MAKE THOSE STICKS AVAILABLE !! Rick it !! Rockett !!
Many moons ago I was 1 of 75-100 But for KISS I was 1 of 150 Local Concert Working Crew & I was also 1 of only 8 Local Concert Show Call Stage Hand Working Crew & I also worked as a Working Stage Hand for a 3 way concert At Saskatchewan Place in Saskatoon Sask Canada the Headpins were the opening act Then it was Vince Neil & the Poison & I've worked for many many bands Over the years After well over 250 major concerts For bands like KISS Cheap Trick Motley Crue Van Halen Alice Cooper AC/DC Aerosmith Def Leppard ZZ Top the Headpins & of course Poison & my question Rikki is! What do you hear? During a show With your ear buds Do you here? The other instruments Or do you hear instructions? Or the beginning? Of each song So you can imitate What you hear To start that next song Or do you hear? Something else? As I've lately wondered & thanks for your so awesome top 10 hits As I drum to A few of them here & there Thanks Rikki
Weird how Tommy Lee's drums started playing before he was behind the kit....lol. Motley Vanilli they're calling them now.....oh boy. Do your drums play themselves?
I seen your recent solo in st.louis at Busch stadium..man I gotta tell ya..YIUR HARDCORE BROTHER!!!! your band being directly in the sun!!!! And no excuses YOU SOLOED!!!!!! most drummers would complain!!!! 🎵🥁💜🌹...I'm also five weeks out of treatment from squamous cell carcinoma!!!! I'm glad you beat it brother thanks for the years of inspiration
Hell by far POISON is the best band on that tour… Rikki you should really put them sticks out , I personally would love to get a set of them .. You should also do a drum cam during a show that would be amazing… POISON FOR LIFE !!!
Rikki, hope you get to the UK - REALLY want to see Poison - been a fan since 1993 and play the drums. Bought Swallow This Live in 1994 and have lost count the amount of times I've played your drum solo over and over again from that album! Love the set up - especially keeping it natural and acoustic.
First off, you were the first drummer I've seen live, (as well as Blaise Elias, for Slaughter) for the tour Poison did with Slaughter opening up back in the late 80's early 90's. I was blown away by the show and was thoroughly impressed and you helped push me into drumming. You're solo (and Blaise's) really set something off for me and I'm still playing today. Thanks for the inspiration!🤘
Another killer drum kit, dude. Back in 88 I had a 5pc Premier kit, in white. I used my wax crayons and drew the faces on my toms, that you had on your white Pearl kit in the Talk Dirty video. I'm always inspired by your custom setups. Long time fan, love this new channel, and Legend Tripping. Peace!
So glad the Ahead sticks are working for you. I started getting arthritic and switched to Ahead, it lengthened my drumming career. I no longer play now due to Parkinson’s. However I swear by Ahead drum sticks.🎧🥁
See u August 16th at Lucas Oil in Indy, 3rd Row cheering yuns on. Been a fan since Lwtcdi LP and this iwill be my 1st time seeing Poison... Cant Wait!!!!🤘😎🤘
The drummer in my band, back in the early 90’s, would just put one SM58 in the bass drum. We only had a 4 channel PA……….. See ya here in Minnesota in a few weeks !!!
Poison is showing everyone the difference between an Opportunity and a Chore. Killing it every night because its an opportunity to them. Thanks for breakdown. Very Knowledgeable in your rig and I love that. Rock On!
