When he stated that many men sitting in churches feel their only contribution is a tithe to a better and higher calling than they themselves are involved, I nearly broke down, as this is how I have felt. It hit me right in the heart, and I thank God for this message proclaiming our purpose in honoring and glorifying our King in whatever we do. There is no secular versus sacred, ONLY sacred! We have services set aside to honor missionaries and those who work directly in the church ministry, which is wonderful. But how about honoring the stay at home Mom, the man who goes into the battlefield of corporate America each day, those in the civil magistrate battling, the police officer, firefighter, or Christian educators, amongst so many others fighting the good fight? God Bless and soldier on brothers!
The one working in corporate America, especially in the Fortune 500 world, has to be considered a spy or a mole and granted a dispensation to conceal his true identity. Sort of like Mordecai telling Ester not to reveal her ethnicity when she enters the who's-the-next-queen" contest. If he patiently bides his time he might end up in a position of real power where he can do some good. And that's something he could never do if he spilled it cause if he did that he'd be out the door in minutes. Of course there's a different analogy. He could be found out and end up like Winston Smith in "1984" and be sent to Room 101. 2 + 2 = 5.
Man that was truly a great message…even after hearing it in person and now listening again…I realize we could all benefit from hearing this again and again…thanks Dr. Boot…ever thankful for you Brother!
The reason that you did not realize this sooner is because it’s not biblical. You’ve been reading the Bible and taking it for what it says. Keep holding to the truth and don’t get talked out of it
@@chiefofsinners5272 the definition of Pietism is to do what Jesus and Paul told us to do as Christians, pray, read the Bible and apply it to one’s life, fast, give, serve, Christian fellowship, give to the poor, preach the Gospel and make disciples, contend earnestly for the Faith once for all delivered unto the saints. Nothing in the Bible tell us to change culture, but changing hearts by Preaching the Gospel for repentance of faith and the remission of sin and eternal life. God Bless!
@@theresaread72 Dr. Boot did support piety and, (I'd have to go and listen) I thought he mentioned activities like those. His point about inappropriate dichotomies is certainly welcome. Especially after hearing about the 3rd usage of the law in contrast to the "Law/Gospel" approach that that seems to have led to a quietism. With my experience in 2 PCA churches I'd say that church culture is no different than the world which is the problem. The salt has lost it's savor.

Really good talk hitting on the dualistic views. 1st century had Gnosticism on top of that against the church. Today is a new Gnosticism. I view the already but not yet kingdom view as a battle . Engage!
It's amazing how pietism destroys churches and Christian brotherhood. Everyone is judging everyone and breaking off into little clicks. If they are not undermining the pastor they are surrounding him and isolating him from others. I've watched it in a number of churches.
Yes, I agree. I'd like to see less propaganda, fake strawman, and more education. It takes a sincere heart to learn someone else's view, or another denominational convictions.
Hey Pastor Webbon I was watching this and a thought came to my mind about how the 90s-00s churches to the pro gay Christians now seem to almost have this weird masochistic desire to be martyrs. It's almost like the pre-Mil crowd is wants to be fed to lions, turned into human candles, practicing the faith in secret (which as sing-songy as they are I dunno how they'll hide since they do more singing than anything else Big Brother could track acoustic guitar sales to find them), and so on. I recall Youth groups in the late 90s speaking about it almost like it'd be some sort of fun adventure like "Just imagine if we could be beheaded for not sacrificing to false idols". But if anyone dares suggest that I dunno why don't we fight those people before it gets to that, legally as long as possible and by force if our lives are on the line...never crosses their mind. They are so tied to watching the world burn. It's a weird masochism and I know they'd say well Israel is on the map. Well they probably said that when the Apostles died or Paul was killed. They probably said that when Spain or Constantinople fell. They may have said it when Russia fell to commies. They didn't say it when Constantine converted the Empire, they didn't say it when the Crusades/Reconquista occurred, and they didn't say it when the Cold War ended. In fact many times they say those events where bad. Any thoughts to this over reaching masochism?
I think it is a romanticism of things they know nothing about..ie torture , hardship like starvation etc. It doesn’t track as masochism. But it comes from desensitization through the media.
In the 90's we gave up the culture and turned inward. It was much safer than confronting the world. Feminism and homosexuality were gaining both in society and the church. I never saw an Evangelical march for Christianity. In fact you can only mobilize Christians around an entertainer claiming to be a pastor.
The Parts are hard to grasp because it’s not Biblical. We are not in the Millennium now. We continue to do what Jesus and the Apostles told us to do, to follow the Bible, and follow Christ. If you can’t see it in the Bible for yourself, reject it as unbiblical.Dr Boot is a follower of RJ Rushdoony a kinist , believing none of the races should mix. He was a racist.God Bless!
@@theresaread72 One thing I do see in the Bible is Deut 19: 15-21: "A single witness shall not suffice against a person for any crime or for any wrong in connection with any offense that he has committed. Only on the evidence of two witnesses or of three witnesses shall a charge be established. If ca malicious witness arises to accuse a person of wrongdoing, then both parties to the dispute shall appear before the Lord, before the priests and the judges who are in office in those days. The judges shall inquire diligently, and if the witness is a false witness and has accused his brother falsely, then you shall do to him as he had meant to do to his brother. So you shall purge the evil from your midst. And the rest shall hear and fear, and shall never again commit any such evil among you. Your eye shall not pity. It shall be life for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot." That is a pretty serious charge you are leveling against another. Are you taking this with the deadly seriousness God would have us take when making such accusations? Are you prepared to defend your charges with a clear conscious that you aren't lying or speaking in ignorance? If so, you should provide much more evidence for your accusations, not merely a drive by slandering of a brother in Christ. Especially when your charges are approaching on blasphemy, which carried a maximum penalty of death. It is not Christian to be so quick to slander, and expecially without carefully backing it up.
I don't like to comment more than once, but I believe Luther is being misrepresented. Luther believed that Law and Gospel should be preached from the pulpit. It was his fear of Antinomianism that the Law should be preached. His view was that God's laws are for both public and private life. He believed in dual a citizenship. We are members of a Heavenly kingdom and an earthly kingdom. God's kingdom is perfect our earthly kingdom is in constant conflict with the world, the flesh and the forces of Satan.
Francis Turretin, the systematic theology professor in Geneva under Calvin, in his Elentic Theology makes this very same nature/grace or law and gospel distinction as 2k advocates. He even goes as far to say that the world can only know God as Creator and that the only the church, the elect, can know God as Redeemer. That’s a pretty strong contrast and fairly early back in the reformed tradition. When he uses the term “natural law”, Turretin is referring to the law as under God as Creator. I bring this up because I know Dr. Boot is not fond of that term. Turretin had tremendous influence upon the Puritans, so much so that they speak often of natural law as oppose to the mosaic law. Might be some categories that Dr. Boot may have to accept as part of the reformed tradition.
You should interview Dr. David VanDrunen, head of systematics at Westminster Seminary in Escondido CA. He earned his PhD at Loyola University, Chicago. I think his championing of 2 Kingdom Theology is not unrelated to this feature of his theological training. He also has a law degree and is a skilled debater....nevertheless, he is views are worth exposing as thoroughly as possible.
From Russia 🇷🇺. Question to the author: I agree with all what you say. But where can I place the exclamation of Apostle Paul “ I’d rather you stay like me!” ? It’s is not an opposition on my part to the lecturers, no. It’s just, how do I understand correctly this thought of Ap. Paul ?
Read the Bible (Romans through Philemon). The apostle Paul, (the apostle to the Gentiles) wrote these Epistles to the church. It is there that you will find church doctrine.
@@chriseasterly5142 incorrect. Demos, chris. In fact, they even have blasphemy laws! So, It's Not if We have one; It's Which THEOS -The True n Living GOD Is Who It should be, In YESHUA.
@@Chirhopher Traditional Christianity doesn't even obey Christ, so there is no logic in Catholics or Protestants trying to enforce their unbiblical brands of Christianity on everyone else. They can't even agree with each other on the most basic doctrines, let alone the God they claim to worship. Until they get that sorted out first, they shouldn't even be discussing theonomy.
It’s a plain fact that we are either in the Kingdom of God or the world. In the Kingdom of light or darkness. We are citizens of the Kingdom of God and just strangers here in this world. This is what the NT teaches and what the early Christians taught.
So, this was like a ra ra speech to an audience he knew would agree with him. There was no actual arguments against 2KT, just assertions that he tried to say in a clever way. Right?
As a Reformed Two Kingdom guy this presentation just adds to the misinformation and mischaracterization of the historic view and its modern variations. In no way can 2K be chalked up to some sort of pagan dualism. 2K simply acknowledges that only believers are subject to the administration of Christ's Lordship via the Abrahamic/New Covenant as their Redeemer. So, how does Christ administer his continual Lordship to unbelievers? Is it the Covenant of Life in Eden? No, for this covenant is broken and the only action left in this covenant is the final judgment of its transgressors. Is it the Mosaic Covenant? No, because this covenant was made with specific people with a particular geographical border. Paul also mentions this covenant is obsolete. Then the only covenant left is the Noahic Covenant (common) that runs alongside the Abrahamic/New Covenant (redemptive) until the consummation. Of course, you're free to disagree with the doctrine of two kingdoms, but to say its source is pagan rather than Abrahamic and Noahic is just false.
Church history-that not written in the Bible; good, bad or ugly has No Biblical authority. I’m 42 min into this message and there has literally not been one verse of Scripture cited for or against the topic of the message. The first verse Boot mentions to supposedly debunk the duality of body and spirit (he says “body and soul”)-2 Cor 5:8-he totally whiffs on, ignoring “to be absent from the body”. One wonders how Boot would explain, “the souls of them that were beheaded…and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years” Rev. 20:4. There we clearly see disembodied souls reigning with Christ prior to His second coming, referred to as those of the first resurrection. I’d love to hear Boot explain the first and second resurrections that believers experience. He so much at hints at it as “in Christ” which, irony of irony is Boot “spiritualizing” the text. Going further, how would Boot explain the first death that’s implied by the “second death” of v.6. I think we can see why Boot’s message is bolstered by unauthoritative early church history and not Scripture. Boot says, “We tend to think of the person as these separable bits” A perfect opportunity to wrestle w/ Romans 7 but does he? No It’s interesting that Boot and RR share the Seventh-Day Adventist view of body and soul. Further, Tim Keller, in his brand of social justice makes the same appeals to R.J. Rushdoony and a oneism that tends to make the material sacred. Boot assumes the spiritness of the Christian, not as a result of the new birth, but merely as a result of a physical act done in “responding to God” In other words, Boot seems to suggest that man is inherently and naturally spiritual. If so this appears to be a flat denial of the effect of the fall (Gen 2:17, 3:5) In general Boot does what RR ministeries does-argue with a broad, overly generalized caricature of the perceived obstacles in the way of their goals. This is not ministry-this is propaganda. This is not discipleship, it’s recruitment. And what’s so sad is this-if Tim Keller’s brand of social justice is the gospel there’d be no need for a special program, if prosperity was the goal of the gospel there’d be no need of a special program. If Christian Nationalism was the goal of the gospel there’d be no need of a special program. What we really have in all these movements to marshal the power of God, the gospel and a following toward a specific social/political/material outcome is none other than that which we see in the behavior of Simon the sorcerer (Acts 8) who seeing the material manifestation of God the Holy Spirit sought to buy that power unto His own brand, glory and acclaim. All these movements ultimately see the gospel as being largely wasted and mismanaged. Their positivity and “hope” is that of any confidence man or woman Am I accusing RR Ministries of deception? No, I’m saying they are deceived. 🙏🏾
While I recognize the danger in the theology presented, Dr. Boot's characterization doesn't even remotely describe the beliefs of anyone I've ever known that recognizes two kingdoms. It doesn't describe any Dispensational evangelicals I've known, nor does it describe anyone who is Reformed that I know. Every Christian I've ever known--whether pastor or otherwise--has expressed a personal concern with applying the teachings of Jesus Christ to all aspects of life, be it school, work, home, or anywhere else. Further, they recognize that the information needed to figure out how to do it is found in the Bible. I'm not sure where Dr. Boot's culprits are to be found.
You must have crossed over then! It’s a pandemic. They may not preach two kingdoms but less than 2 % of Europe attends church, less are committed. 99.97% church’s shut doors and promoted the 💉😷. Two kingdoms- one the TV/Media/ Government gospel or Christ is all. Less than 1%.
Let me tell you how far this surrender of Christianity has gone. I have been a pastor for 46 years and now serve at an Evangelical mega-church. Evangelical pastors have become so intimidated by the world that they are unwilling to preach on classical moral teachings of the gospel for fear of alienating people. I am serious. However, I think our speaker got Aquinas wrong. Aristotle fundamentally opposed Plato's strong dualism by asserting the forms do not have an independent existence but are inherently in matter. Hence man is a composite being and NOT the Gnostic or Pietistic spiritual being that lives in a body. Therefore, Aquinas word say (as opposed to our speaker) the natural world "participates" in God and has NO independent existence. There are NO distinct and independent realms of kingdom and nature (or natural). Aquinas would assert that such a view is impossible since all that exists is sustainted moment to moment by God's Existence. I think your speaker has rightly identified the problem but gotten the source of that problem dead wrong. It is actually Ockham and his Nominalism which was picked up by Luther (an anti-Scholastic who did not read Aquinas) who led Christianity back into Platonic Dualism. I am of the opinion that Aquinas is the one that could lead both Protestants and Catholics back into a united effort to reclaim Christendom. Many Catholics are aware of this. The problem is that many Protestants have not read Aquinas. I refer you to Edward Feser and Francis J. Beckwith. Beckwith was President of the Evangelical Theological Society but left Evangelicalism partially because of its weak intellectual tradition.
