Pokémon Emerald Hardcore Nuzlocke - Normal Type Pokémon Only! (No items, No overleveling)

Can I beat Pokémon Emerald with a bunch of Normies using Hardcore Nuzlocke Rules?
Normal Nuzlocke Ruleset:
1. Fainting = Death
2. Can only catch the first Normal Type Pokémon on each Route (Species Clause); This does NOT include non-Normal Pokémon that evolved from Normal types!
3. Nickname Pokémon
Hardcore Nuzlocke Ruleset (from Pokémon Challenges):
4. No items in battle (held items okay)
5. No leveling past the next gym leader/E4 (at the START of the battle)
6. Play on "Set" battle mode

I mean Rest exists and a 2 turn forced sleep is just strictly better than a 2 stage Stat drop.

@@jameswang9988 not necessarily. On a bulky mon that isn't using an attack stat, taking that drop worn matter much. Plus, you can switch after recovering, and when you come back, you can tank a hit, and immediately move

My rule for castform has always been that it counts for normal, water, ice and fire monotype playthroughs. It isn't the strongest pokemon out there, and you need all the help you can get in these types of things. Maybe thats cheatsy, maybe it's lame. But hey, if you can sweep with another powerful pokemon anyway, who cares? just have fun and use the little cloud.

A challenging specific idea would be to only use middle staged evolutions in a nuzlocke! A gen 4 game would probably work best because a 3rd stage is added to a lot of pokemon, which created more middle stage pokemon

I've never audibly said 'no' to one of these videos but the death of Tom hurt me. Swellow is one of my all time favorite Pokemon. (so is Stuffel and Staraptor). Swellow has always helped me in gen 3--I knew as soon as I saw counter---Swellow is dead. Still makes me upset.
