This song… It had never really stuck out to me in the DS titles before, but when a friend had bought me the remakes, I decided to do my first hardcore nuzlocke (with no prior experience). Upon making it to the League, after all of the hard losses and triumphant victories, it really does pull you aside and say ‘this will be the end of your journey, so take this moment to look back on what you’ve done. Look how far you’ve come! Now, there’s no rush. Prepare yourself for the hardest fights, but also, appreciate all the work it took to get this far.’ This will always be my favorite Elite Four theme. It dances between melancholy and comforting, happy notes and breaks, feeding into the reflective tone of this piece. This is unlike other Elite Four themes, as they seem to serve the purpose of getting the player hyped for a climatic series of battles. As an oftentimes contemplative person myself, I find this to be one of the best songs in the entire series. (Also, the Gen 4 games went hard, glad to see the remakes didn’t change much)

It has the same music in Pokemon Diamond & Pokemon Pearl with Pokemon League in the night in the DS Version

A bit more than year after the release of these games, I feel I can be truthful. I love them and I hate them. It was close to the original experience but also so far. To call them faithful seems like a bad joke. And I think I know why both these remakes and ORAS soured so many people. Gen 3 and 4 were so much bigger than Gen 1 and 2, they had so many side games, so many compatibilities, things you would do to eventually get back to your Diamond and Pearl games. Diamond and Pearl wasn't just Diamond and Pearl, and even if they had remade Platinum instead, it wouldn't be it... And to some degree I think they understood, that is why Legends Arceus exists. Gen 4 is all about that interconectivty between games, a small self-contained journey tied to the larger than life Adventures of the Rangers, an expansive theme park full of challenging battles in Battle Revolution and a relaxing time in Ranch. They even tried to bring back the vibes of Mystery Dungeon with the new underground. If you follow this logic it becomes easy to understand why the Delta Episode exists in ORAS. The darker journeys of Colosseum and XD are an integral part of Gen 3 despite not being part of RSE. To put simply, remakes of Gen 3 and 4 will never be as good as the original Gens becasue DPPt & RSE aren't as good as their whole Gens either. Now, would BDSP have benefited from being more than it was? Sure. Could they have fixed more stuff? Absolutely. Would they have looked better in full 3d? I'll never know nor do I care.
